iPhone accessories can download iPhone apps to your iPhone memory
Among the many minor changes included in the 3.0 release of the iPhone OS was one that would enable those myriad of iPhone accessories to work more closely with software. That is to say, to make the plugging in of one result in in a prompting to download the other. The first such piece of hardware is the latest Griffin iTrip, which, when connected, raises the dialog shown above. You can of course say "No" if you don't feel like playing along, but when it comes to accessories like the TomTom car kit we're thinking you'll probably be missing out if you don't go along with the flow.

"iPhone accessories can download iPhone apps to your iPhone memory"
...As opposed to downloading WinMo apps to your iPhone?
Somebody has a few unread emails.
Funny, that's the first thing I noticed too.
Me too. Delete some fraking emails, dude!
Even in airplane mode, the battery seems to drain too fast! :D
*Generic comment about screen grab.*
:)
The message says that you'll get the app from the app store, not from the device itself. The headline is kind of misleading.
I'd go a step further to say it's just flat out wrong. The accessory isn't downloading anything, the App Store is. The accessory simply does a quick check to see if the app is installed, and if not, launches iTunes on the device.
VICTORMARKS---> I guess you may find the headline a bit misleading, but then again, we can't idiot proof everything now can we?
You have a 177 unread emails... you make me sick...
Well... If that is hooked up to the engadget tip-email, then it would make sense.
Quite innovative way to eliminate the need for software installation disc.
If I remember correctly, a similar message appeared on my iPod Touch, last year, when I plugged in the Nike+ attachment. I can't remember if it offered to download the app, but there was definite interaction there.
How is this news?? I plug a new device into my windows machine and it says "Hey dumbass, I don't know what this is, install the drivers". This is the same thing.
Except that it knows where to get it and install it for you once you click yes.
It saves your ass from finding and install it yourself. How convenience!
Windows does the same thing, at least win7 does...
Shame it can't read the map data from the TomTom Cradle.
When will a wireless printer make itself known to iPhone, so you can put an app on to print off photos / maps / webpages / etc? cmon... all the technology is there now...
I thought the HP iPrint app does that. I could be incorrect though.
That would be a really awesome software update for Apple to include.
You're absolutely correct. HP has released numerous iPhone apps for sometime now.
This includes iPrint that you mentioned.
@Barry99705.
Please read the post before you troll. If you had a win mo phone, you would be spending all day googling what the hell you need to download. This way it shows you a list of apps that are compatible with your device. Go back under your bridge troll.
That dude need to check his email geez lol
Do you just like the word "iphone" Tim?
"Well, the iphone's iphone is an iphone in my other iphone's iphone. Iphone"
You've got mail!
Tomtom has said that their device will work with other third party GPS programs. Wouldn't it be funny if they prompted you to buy their app every single time you docked your phone?
WooHoo! Another person who probably reads only the headline of an email and never deletes them!
So far, I've amassed 6205 since early 2006.
Let me get this straight, you made a post for a notification on an iphone?
(and yeah, I'm commenting on this useless post, too).
