LaCie's Sound2 PC speakers look good... real good
LaCie isn't exactly the first name that comes to mind when you think "sound," but it's definitely near the top in the design department. Neil Poulton, the same fellow responsible for designing the outfit's line of sleek, sexy hard drives, has placed his touch on the speakers you see above. The simplistic Sound2 setup (which has a touch of Cabasse, just so you know) boasts 30 total watts of peak power, and all it requires to function is a free USB port, an open AC outlet and an Earthling kind enough to connect it all. If you just know these would look sound great on your desk, get ready to fork out $99.99 for the privilege.

Apple may not be too happy about that.
Well, technically PC (Personal Computer) is correct. I'll never understand the "I'm a PC" thing, considering that I'm pretty sure a Mac is a personal computer. Unless it's in the library. Then it's a "public computer". Wait, that's still "PC".
Woa...
WIN!!!
Don't look at Microsoft for making the distinction of "Mac vs PC". Apple did that all by them selves with their anger inducing commercials. (I realize how stupid it is to be get angry over something like that.)
IIRC, I'm pretty sure I saw the tag-line at apple.com that suggested for you to, "Make your next PC a Mac." Pretty cryptic, huh.
I have a self-built Windows 7 desktop for gaming and 3D design, but also a Macbook Pro for things I'd rather be doing while on the couch or in a more comfortable setting, like reading blogs and writing speeches. I would call them both PCs regardless of the OS, but generally rely on the aforementioned "desktop" and further "laptop" monikers.
politically correct?
Because in the 80s, there were IBMs and there were Macs. So 'PC' went on to represent an IBM compatible 'run' 'cmd' type computer that went on to run windows and the other cool, easy to use slick one was a Mac. So, you ended up with PCs and Macs.
Hrm.. They look a little too big, and that doesn't ALWAYS mean better.
WHAT!
Wait, so you don't like giant "tee-tees"?
note: I said isn't "always" better.
Which insinuates that it *is* sometimes better ;)
No, he is trying to say that his wee wee is tiny, but still just as good as a big one. He's wrong, by the way.
Looks like a giant butt plug
Stale joker is stale.
Previous comment directed @derrik, not Augmented
yeah, i agree with you on that. I dont have room on my desk for something that big! especially with dual monitors
i thought the title was being sarcastic. these things are hideous and huge.
For real.. at first I thought LaCie stole them from the rear deck of a car...
From the title, I was expecting them to look like boobs. Ah well...
Agreed. These things don't look good at all. A speaker shoved in the end of a cardboard tube, with a over-sized huge @ss grill on front? Looks like a fifth grader designed them, acoustically they probably suck big time. Oh wait... they're apple white, so they must be good looking and I must be wrong as usual.
Yeah, those look just awesome...

reminds me of iPod headphones
Lol you're right, both are big and ugly. Apple can never get their headphones right, they never fit in your ears, at least the ones that come with ipods.
"LaCie's Sound2 PC speakers look good... real good."
Something looks good, make it an Apple accessory, doesn't even have to function correctly.
They should have made them a tiny bit bigger.. so they can take over my whole desk.
IMHO, the taste is bad, real bad...
You should try boiling them until they're tender and THEN coat them in batter and fry them.
A little MSG will give you that crunchy taste.
"look good... real good" This phrase, I don't think it means what you think it does. These are terrible.
Between my laptop, and a 24 inch monitor, I barely have enough horizontal room as is. I honestly don't think those things will fit....
Hell, I don't know how they are gonna fit on anyone's desk..
My cats would shred those things... I don't blame them.
the speakers look like macaroni pieces lol
http://www.tvlesson.com/video/39550_la-cie-usb-speakers-review.html
why yes, those speakers do look like macaroni. Unfortunately those are not the speakers we are talking about here. Note the pictures above.
Let me just put this out there since everyone isn't exactly saying it out right.
They look stupid. No easy foot print to fit onto my desk and not easy to just tuck away. They are large and awkward. Give me a break, they look like in wall speakers that are laying out on my desk and being obnoxious.
GG /fail
These look TERRIBLE! Are you being sarcastic Darren? They are tremendous and weak.
Seriously? What is the point of having a USB speaker system if you need an A/C outlet?
I was thinking the same thing. They don't look so great, but don't take up my desk space AND one of only two USB ports on my laptop. I find that rather insulting.
I always find it odd that NO ONE during development stopped to think and say..."This is garbage!"
I paid less for my x-540s with 5.1 and 70watt output. Anyone who buys these should be sent to a consumer re-training camp
If by "good... real good" you mean "bad... real bad", then you're spot on.
They would actually have to pay me some decent $,$$$ to use those fugly speakers (which I bet don't even sound good).
explains why the previous speakers are on sale....
I think LaCie's designs are usually pretty good, but this is not the case with these. They are absolutely hideous and I would never put them on my desk regardless of sound quality.
On another note, I used to love LaCie's products until I started having every single BigDisk power supply from them go out after 3 months. They would replace them, but the new one would always go out three months later. I've switched to WD MyBooks in the past year and they have never had any problems at all.
those speakers are "flat" and they need implants.
Looks like someone put a speaker in a "Mr. Megaphone" and then slapped some foam on the end.
...genious
:-\
99.9% of the time, I'm disappointed when I actually hear "PC" desktop speakers.
And that side view looks a little wimpy. I'm guessing this one doesn't have much balls.
LOL @ Reverse Toe-In
boobies....that is all.
The round shape doesn't go with any of computer designs (yes, including the macbook pictured)... The speakers are plain ugly... take up a lot of desk space (unnecessarily)... And have I mentioned that those things are FUGLY AS FUCK?... They look like junk parts laying around... if I saw these on someone's desk, I'd say: "Boy, it's that time to clean up the desk... ha?"... Every SINGLE time I'd see them...
anyone know where to get that water wallpaper? thanks
Very interesting looking speakers...
-anyone know where to get the background image on the macbook?
That's an interesting looking MacBook Pro. Looks like the 17", however the black bezel is too shallow and the screen appears matte (the actual matte version has a silver bezel). And they photoshoped out the MacBook Pro logo, or rather the screen extends so low that covers it.
I wish the real MacBook screen looked like this...
Actually they are usb bus powered....so they don't require an AC outlet.
