Okoro delivers mini Media PCs with a full size price tag
Continuing its streak of questionably high priced media PCs Okoro has announced the new OMS-Q100 and OMS-Q200 Quantum mini Digital Entertainment Systems. Combining an Intel Atom processor and NVIDIA ION in the OMS-Q200 and Mobile Core 2 Duo in the OMS-Q200 with 4GB of RAM with 320GB of hard drive space, 7.1 audio outputs, OTA & QAM recording capability (plus optional digital cable tuner) these tiny, quiet boxes could find a welcoming home theater somewhere, though the starting price of $1,295 may make for a difficult fit. You probably don't need our help to put together something equivalent or better for less than that, but feel welcome to it.

Does it come with Coke Zero?
love the can... %)
Does that mean if the price goes down we get Diet Coke instead?
Wow, the low end starting at $1295? The ASRock is sub $600, also with ION/Atom including BD...

And had no problem handling Windows 7 Media Center. Of course, you'd have to add an external tuner since there's no room inside, but a Hauppauge 1950 does the trick, and adds IR capabilities for just over $100.
...nevermind the BD drive. Leave that on your master server. Put that
master server in another room so that it can be a big, fat, noisy, loud,
desktop PC with an absurd number of hard drives. Just use the units
by the TV for decoding.
There are any number of low profile boxes from a mac mini to an acer
revo that make remarkably more sense than this thing.
The storage on a "master" box should be measured in TB not Gigs.
Newegg has the Asrock for $360 sans OS and BD (just an ordinary "slim DVD" Super Multi).
So its a typical Atom+Ion nettop with a Coke for $1000?
I've been running a 3 year old Core Duo Mac Mini plugged into a Denon receiver via DVI-to-HDMI and optical digital. Plays blu-ray content and all sorts of other media. The only thing is lacks is a 7.1 digital audio output. So why would I shell out $1295 for a weaker Atom based box? I think cable will die with more content coming in via the net tubes/pipes but even so, another $50-100 over a Mac Mini for turning it into a DVR. And, the Okoro still looks stupid, money wise.
The Q100 on the left is an AOpen XC-mini MP45 which retails for about $700-$800 MSRP in a base configuration. Load it up with pre-configured Windows, RAM and an extra large 2.5" HDD will bring it in the $1k range.
The specs look good [for it's intended usage], but the price is way off!
Why spend $1300 on a mini pc with an Atom when you can have a full sized htpc for less with more power? I never liked the mini pcs for home theater use as they make it difficult to stack components. I guess that is what the free market is for - to weed out crap like this...
run it for a year and the product pays itself.
How much are you paying for power!?!?!?!?!?!!?
if apple makes this, use white candybox color shell and call it iMediaCenter or something better, fanboys will pay $1499 for it.
But it's not, so STFU!
if Apple made this all the haters would cry and complain how expensive and a rip-off it is!
@grifmusic
Ummm, its not made by Apple and people are complaining - it is in fact expensive and a rip-off. So how does Apple factor in? Let me guess...you're a fanboy?
oh look... another re-branded Aopen MiniPC [MP45]
how original
why in the hell can't we get a ion pc as small as small as the original nvidia design...why i beg?
