Cowon teases iAudio 9 portable media player, waits for a reaction
It seems that the above pictured splash page has since been removed from Cowon's website, but given the outfit's long, long history of teasing products before they're actually introduced, we'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt here. Reportedly, the decidedly ho hum looking media player will ship with a 2-inch LCD, built-in FM tuner, a microphone, TV output, internal speaker and support for plenty of formats. As of now, storage capacities and pricing remains a mystery, but we're certain Cowon will be clearing that up in short order. Ahem.

There's no mention of an expansion slot, but there's still hope considering this is Cowon and the capacity or price hasn't been mentioned either. A good battery life like the S9, expansion through SD or MicroSD and a good capacity size will make this all the more amazing.
Good battery life, combined with the slim design, Cowon's audio quality, and the reported FLAC support make this a killer player. An expansion slot would just be icing on the cake.
I'll be picking at least one up if they make it to the states.
Looks like a cheap cellphone.
yeah....from about 5 years ago!
The iAudio 7 spoke to all of Cowon's traditional strengths: no-nonsense, great sound, unbelievable battery life, powerful headphone out, unique style.
The iAudio 9: not seeing it.
And you gathered all that from a single picture and a half-dozen features.
Wow, you should be a market analyst, you'll tell us all which way the wind is blowing and make us all millions!
Either that, or you're an idiot jumping to conclusions, let us apply occam's razor and see, shall we?
Way too standard design. This is just one of many (many) in this category that looks virtually the same.
Will wait for more info before making judgement, I really want to know what they are using to control it (scroll wheel, D-pad etc).
It looks small and light.
If it's cheap, well built, has a good battery life and plays as many formats as usual cowon players do (which it will i'm sure) it's gonna be a good deal.
With the few specs given right now I prefer the P3 over this ... well "newcomer"
especially the design ..
The design on the P3 was a marked step down from the P2... But ok
Me wants a x5 successor, godç%*ç&!!! Is this so hard to do?
I want plenty of storage, not 32GB max.
Still treasuring my x5 because it's got bass like no other (with rockbox & its equalizer).
me too! but i think the time of the good old pocketable high capacity hdd player is over since the ipod classic is one of the last remaining ones.
the limited storage and high prices of flash-players kept me from getting one and so i just upgraded my ancient archos xs202 to 80gb and enjoy the ease of use and sound quality for another 3 years, until flash-player reach acceptable price-levels (64-128gb for 200-250€).
This looks almost as bad as Samsung's Q2, with which it shares the touch-sensitive controls. Who needs those?
I used to use an old Cowon (Sorry i don't remember the model) and it served me well for a few years. Then i got the S9 and never looked back. I only compared the S9 to the iPod Touch and sound and screenwise it makes the Touch look like an old 50's b/w tv. My point is that you buy the Cowon if you like quality audio and i'm not doubting any of their products will disappoint. The features and operating system may be primitive but if you like your music played out loud in HQ i have yet to hear anything like it. (So funny when Touch owners try to demonstrate video quality compared to the S9 too). If you like a cool multimediaplatform Cowon isn't near as cool as ie the Touch but for playing lossless audio and mp3 i'd like to know who can match them in quality because i love that stuff :-)
"My point is that you buy the Cowon if you like quality audio and i'm not doubting any of their products will disappoint "
Oops - lol Meant the opposite ;-)
If this is like the Cowons of the past this looks like my next PMP
