See that pink, embossed "Buy now" button in the lower right corner of the above pic? It's a beacon of hope to UK Android lovers who want more choices, and who for whatever reason aren't happy with the current selection. As
previously discussed, the 3.5-inch Huawei-made
T-Mobile Pulse is now available to our friends across the pond, for the enviable price of
nada on contract, or £176.16 (about $282 in US) with pay as you go, VAT included. Still looking for the ultimate mobile Gmail experience and a slightly larger than usual display? It's just a click away below.

Ooh, shiny :)
Not a bad plan as well, my better half is looking for a new phone right now and this would be a good excuse for me, er sorry, I mean her to get one.
Oh, man, I want it so bad. So, so bad. Please bring it to the US, T-Mobile!
Yeah, but if it comes here, because our market is a bit smaller, we will definitely not get it for free on contract. Tmo will probably make it $150 or $200 on contract. I say if that happens, just get one full price from across the pond ($282 plus international shipping), and skip the contract.
I wonder if it comes unlocked as the magic?
I mean like the magic did
Nope, locked to T-mobile.
T-Mobile USA will unlock it for you after one month, upon request, as it always has, right?
They're good that way.
I dont even think it would take them a month to unlock it if you were under contract or paid the full amount for the phone. Their rule is once every 90 days.
£176 PAYG?!
Bloody hell that's half the price of Hero!!!
So, why so cheap? There's gotta be a catch somewhere, right?
(Please say yes I just bought a Hero on Monday...)
don't think so, beside the fact that Huawei make the phone.....it's just the brand, i would still get it though
Apparently it is locked to T-mobile. Still I might get one and unlock it (if that is possible - the person in the online chat thing said you can 'get it unlocked in any high street accessories store for about £5' but I'm dubious about that.)
I'm sure you'll be able to unlock on the high street soon enough.
It's not well-publicised, but T-Mo UK will unlock any handset you've had for more than 28 days. It costs £15.
Going to t mobile store now may get one depends on the screen res wvga or vga (please) love the vga of my htc topaz (diamond2) and will never go back to a lower res screen
Does this have wifi?
All early talks about it says it does but the T-Mobile site does not have Wifi listed
I wonder how the back/home button works, and if it's better than the existing way. One of my few gripes with Android is that the function of the back button isn't always consistent (sometimes it acts like you're going up one level in hierarchy of something, sometimes it goes to the last screen you were on).
Curse you T-Mobile UK!!!
Jeez like $47.00 a month and free on contract for that plan ...i really wish we had that kind maturity for the cell phone market in the states
If this can be bought on other shopping sites such as expansys etc, then US shoppers would get VAT (15%)taken off at source, so you'd pay some $240 + shipping :)
Hopefully cheaper lower end phones like this will keep reducing the price of HTC and other devices.
If you compare UK Expansys prices and US Expansys prices, you'll see that, VAT or not, they always add a fairly hefty premium to USD prices.
ATT 900min unlimited text and web plan: $105/month + $200 3GS 2yr total cost of ownership: $2720 + tax
TM UK 1000min unlimited text and web: $47.7/month + $0 Pulse 2yr total cost of ownership: $1145 + tax
Fight!!
Pink button? How dare you call it pink! =P
In the UK you can get a G1, a Hero or even an iPhone free on an 18 month contract, you guys get screwed in the States.
if i get this phone from the UK will it work with the 3g here in the states? i think it would be an upgrade from my MT3G even tho i think its still a rock solid android starter phone.
It is so strange that the US market is now more expensive than the UK. We are so used to getting ripped off over here in UK that we don't even complain about it anymore. But that cost comparison by hhmmwv above is shocking!! You guys really need another revolution LOL
Perhaps we can get together for you and send out "phone parcels" or do night-time air drops of T-Mobile Pulses ...
Back on topic - this is an amazing price for an Android on PAYG, nothing comes even close. Add to that T-Mobile will unlock after 90 days is even better. And no doubt we'll be seeing unofficial/official unlocks for this in the very near future.
I have to wonder what Huawei will sell these for SIM-free? Maybe as the Huawei 8220 (its original model reference)? And if so will it be UMTS capable or GSM only.
