BlackBerry Onyx poses for the camera
We're not expecting the BlackBerry Onyx to hit before November, but at least a few units have hit the wild, and these are the first in-depth photos we've seen. These shots don't reveal much about the new-look Bold with the optical trackball, but it sure is pretty, ain't it? Now if it only had a useful browser and IMAP support, we'd actually care.

wow endgadget has become the most hostile snarky tech site around. If it doesn't have webkit its crap wtf. The onyx is more than enough for most people.
That's the sexiest pic of the Onyx I've seen so far! Sprint needs to hurry up and grab their own version of this phone and call it Steelix.
Hmm... I wonder what that could be referencing... Now where did I put down my trusty ol' Game Boy Color games?
How sick is the web browsing?
Nice one!
Just finished she was descent.
im thinking of getting this to replace my iphone just to try something new out
You should try E72 then.
I hope RIM has a sweet new phone out next fall or Microsoft finally releases one of their own, will be ready for an upgrade then.
*grammar nazi mode* it's decent. descent means to go down.
thats what she did.
The snarky comment at the end of the post was completely unnecessary. This is becoming an elitist mouthpiece for everything iPhone and it's ridiculous.
well we all know Engadget is all about iphone and android
You mean there actually aren't millions of people out there turning up their noses at any phone that lacks IMAP support? All my friends use IMAP, maaaaaan.
The comment was snarky because RIM and their OS are in danger of becoming the next Windows Mobile.
I agree. it isnt an Iphone!! we all dont want the same types of phones. RIM has just bought a webkit company and will be releasing something in about 6-8 months from initial reports on here and on crackberry.com. Come on engadget... must you worship the iphone non stop... you are just as bad as fox news !!!! fair and balanced my ass!!!
@Beau Giles
how sick is the web browsing?
H1N1 sick. and don't forget all the apps and gps.
I, for one, welcome our best BlackBerry in 2009 (hopefully).
nokia n900 ftw!!!
yeah man
What do you mean no IMAP support? I've had Push IMAP GMail on my BIS BlackBerry for a year.
All I will say is it better have software fix for the "emergency call" feature. I am sick of pocket calling 911...and the rudeness that goes with it. Fix it RIM or I'm off to another brand. Three times in the last six months isn't acceptable!
I notice 90% of all blackberry phones are color black..
Does this have to do anything with the name BLACK berry?
IMAP support? You can put in up to 10 internet accounts using the Blackberry Internet Service and have the emails stream in over the blackberry push email. Or do you need full multi-folder capability? At the end of the day, it is a phone...
A better browser would be nice though, hopefully thier webkit aquisition will bear fruit. Or Apple will make an iphone with a slider keyboard... Or someone will get a good multi email account push email app working on Android or Pre...
Nilay, your comment at the end was pretty harsh for an Engadget editor... dare I say Troll-like? If you don't care, get someone else to post about it. Many of us are very excited about this phone.
Leave the trolling to the trolls.
I know BlackBerrys are the conservative, understated, business phone, but it should *really* update its looks a bit.
