HTC HD2 hands-on and impressions... on video!

We were frankly blown away with how slick this phone is. Mind you, WM 6.5 still shows its not-so-fresh colors here and there, but the general experience of using the device is handled mainly through the Sense interface, and it blows the hinges off of any other Windows phone experience we've had. Ever. From the lag-free gestures which get you around the device, to image pinching and zooming with that aforementioned multitouch, the hesitation-free jumps in and out of applications, and typing on the sprawling, HTC-ified onscreen keyboard, using the HD2 is a joy. There's no getting around the fact that the phone is still very much anchored to Windows Mobile, but what HTC has done here is nothing short of a revelation. Why Robbie Bach didn't bring this up on stage today at Microsoft's open house event is anyone's guess -- though we have to imagine that when your OS is this heavily gutted (HTC has even completely removed stock apps like calendar and contacts and replaced them with its own versions, and the company had to hand-roll the capacitive / multitouch interfacing), it might not be the best example of what you've done. We'll be waiting with bated breath till we get more hands-on time with this phone, but until then, we can all enjoy some lengthy video of the device in action... so check it out after the break.
Update: Second video is up!

WOW, I just took another look and between 0:47-0:50 when he does the first flip, it stops in the "M's" and you can clearly see "myFaves something." Hmm so maybe T-Mobile also, starting to get the feeling that this will be released to multiple carriers just like the TouchPro 2. They should considering the US did not get the Touch HD, well we did but they snuck it in as the Touch Pro 2.
After a long time, for the first time, thinking of WM.
the htc hd2 may cost 650 eur that = to about 1000.00 US dallars ?
I am going to Hong Kong next week and would love to pick up one of these bad boys. (Unlocked for GSM of course.) Anybody outside the US have any release dates or sightings in the wild?
this phone is in USA and AT&T HAS IT, THEY CALL IT HTC PURE
The Pure is NOT the same as the HD2... the Pure has a smaller screen, half the RAM, and a much slower processor. The Pure is basically a Tough Pro 2 w/o the keyboard (and a better camera)
TOUCH Pro 2, that is
how much will it cost? I need a new phone and I really want a real smartphone this time. I'm looking a lot at the N900 but then this comes along w/ it's neat looking UI and there's the G2 hat looks good (at least I think it's the G2... the one w/ the really weird angle at the bottom w/ android).
I will leave Verizon for this phone.
Played with this baby last week at a show here in Paris : as E. says, "it blows the hinges off of any other Windows phone experience we've had. Ever.".
I would even say it blows the hinges off any other phone on the market right now. The HD 2 is THAT incredible, I can't wait november to get mine !!

its there alright, Veizon dont fail us now(but im willing to bet you will)
wow nice wonder when they will come out with a smudge free screen
So being as the hero is due out in the vodafone xmas catalog here in ireland and there is no mention that they even know the hd2 exists (I swear voda ie seem to operate like we`re still in the famine years) which would be advisable to buy?
have been looking at the hero as there is a releae date. but was thinkin of holding off after the review said it was slow, now that seems to be fixed, but the leo is now getting sick reviews and i do have a windows pc..... no hint of release yet here though.
never got a htc or other smart phone before, so wondering if it matters much which one i get..?
Only thing I can say is: Holy Sh**
i dont think it has a true capacitive screen. in one of the pictures of the phone with the screen off, you can see the actual dot matrix that is indicative of a resistive/pressure sensitive display. the screens on the iphone and g1 do not have this dot matrix on the screen under reflection. i remember seeing those tiny dots on my old att tilt. this looks like some htc trickery with the same old resistive tech. a closer inspection is definitely needed here engadget!
@ tazbo
(prior) 3GS owner here. Under the right light, you can see the grid over the iPhone's screen, so I wouldnt count it out as capacitive just because of that. Not to mention the HTC rep said it was capacitive in the video...
I though 3.5 is already huge...but bigger than that? I hope the battery wont last just an hour for surfing IE.
Im not eligible for an upgrade for another year...
...and I don't care. I'm buying this day 1.
Did anybody notice on the second video when hes scrolling through contacts that it has #BAL #DATA Verizon Wireless Accessories in the contacts? So... Does that mean the HD2 is coming to Verizon? Because why else would those be in their contacts if it wasn't coming to Verizon? Verizon always includes the #BAL #DATA in the contacts list of all phones.
@(Unverified) Did you notice that at the :51 mark in the second video there was a contact for Verizon Wireless Accessories?
