HTC HD2 to arrive Stateside in early 2010 -- huzzah!
Snap, looks like that painful feeling in our gut was just from that late-night Mickey's sesh after all. HTC's Peter Chou told SlashGear today that the monstrous, amazing HTC HD2 will be coming to the United States of America sometime in Q1 of 2010. That's not too far off, but let's be honest -- it's gonna be a long wait.

i just pooped a little.
Chinese Food?
The beast has finally been freed, best news I've heard all day!
Just so we clear...not about this guy pooping lol
Personally, I'm excited he finally pooped a little, its been so long
This could be my mini tablet until the courier arrives! Now if it is $200 i would bite!
It will be available here in Denmark on the last week of october and I just preordered my speciman.
Although I loved Win mob with TouchFLO on my HTC TouchHD (which I still have) I must admit that since I got my HTC Hero last june I have become a total Android +SenseUI convert.
WIN mob with TouchFLO is good but Android+senseUi is on a class of its own, and the 1000s of amazing free apps available from Android market add even more to its appeal.
Whoever tried an Hero knows I am right.
please guys dont try an hero, its not worth it.
No way on earth will it be $200
The TP2 is 199-349 depending on the carrier and it's Winmo 6.1 + 3.6" Screen + 528MHz CPU
Now make it Winmo 6.5/7.0 + 4.3" Screen + 1GHz CPU and you can expect to pay at minimum $299...maybe 399.
$200? In the US? Not even after contract. This thing will be $299.99 with contract, or $599.99 unlocked.
Still f*cking cheap, dudes! What are you complaining about all the times?! We get these types of phones here in EU for about a $1000 unlocked and not many carriers offer these subsidised! :/
@ Plexus: how much you paid for it? where did you got it? can I get it unlocked? Thanks!
No way in heck it's gonna be $200
6.5 just doesn't cut it though :( Needs Android
Why?
I really need you to explain explicitly why it needs Android.
If you can't please forever hold your peace.
good god! enough with the "needs android" crap! seriously, all of these android posts in winmo articles are just as annoying as the iphone fanboy posts. enough!
6.5 and HTC's touchflo absolutely do cut it.
Is android any good for corporate users. I qualify for an upgrade and I am looking at either the android phones that were just announced for Verizon or going with WinMo 6.5. Does android play nice with Outlook and Microsoft Exchange?
Seriously, if you want Android that badly, you can be sure XDA will have a rom with it in not too long, but until then be happy with a great WinMo experience thanks to insanely fast hardware combined with great HTC software.
As was dished on TechCrunch and Gizmodo today, WinMo 6.5 is only finger-friendly on the surface. Android is finger-friendly throughout. Android integrates tightly with google's services, which I use extensively, and with the Sense UI, it's even more attractive.
That's why this phone needs Android over WinMo in MY opinion.
To answer all the "Why?"s up there, here it is

@ Ryan: In the case of this phone, WinMo 6.5 is perfect. HTC has spent tons of effort re-skinning the entire OS. You hardly EVER see the raw platform. The result is incredibly finger-friendly throughout, and very beautiful.
Did you see the video of 6.5/TF3D UI that this phone is running? It makes your links look like crap.
I thought I read that Windows Mobile 6.5 does not support capacitive touch screens, which is why none have been featured on a WM device so far. Unless I'm mistaken, how is it possible that this one supports a capacitive touch screen?
NeoteriX
The HD2 will support multitouch.
@Neoterix
Windows Mobile uses drivers just like its desktop relatives, so AFAIK you can add pretty much whatever the hell you want to it. While the stock operating system doesn't come with support for capacitive hardware, HTC has seen fit to write their own drivers.
I'll gladly wait instead of getting the Touch Pro2. ATT, you better get this!
Why bother? AT&T will probably just ruin the device as they always do.
That's the beauty of it being a WinMo smartphone! You can easily just reflash a clean ROM without ATT's bloatware.
ATT at most will only affect key placement on a qwerty keypad, but since the LEO doesn't have this, then nothing with change.
ATT doesn't alter the internal hardware like Verizon has done in the past.
I with you. But I though Tmo was getting it...
There are so many smart phones available now, who cares about this one. If a was a little cooler and hipper i'd get an IPhone, like millions of other people.
well this will definitely be my next phone, i applaud htc for this phone, i hope its a huge success for them
Until they release an Android or Win7 version I doubt it will be a huge success.
Let's do work sprint...
And think of this baby with android...that's be mighty sexy.
Yeah I'm praying for CDMA right now
If I can get it on Sprint w/ my SERO plan... I'm all over it! Otherwise, may the next WM7 phone please stand up...
I swear, if Sprint restricts this phone from SERO people, I will find one of them and bite them. Then again, if they allow me to upgrade to this from my Touch Pro for 50 dollars cause I have TEP, I will bite myself. Your move sprint.
I will be ready to pay up to $300 for it, if it is available on SERO. I don't care if it's gonna be WinMo or Android; When you are a SERO customer you are not very picky!
See Petition!

Agreed.
If Sprint gets this, then I get this too, no matter the cost.
But they better allow it on SERO!
Sometimes in Q1? Let me guess, the end of April then? Geez, just roll out Winmo 7 already.
Q1 ends in March, but still a valid point.
A certain AT&T-exclusive phone's days are numbered.
That may be but it won't be a POS WM phone that does it.
This phones like a rotten apple. It may look good from the outside but inside it's rotten and dead.
@ laxfan0930
You're right, the iPhone is indeed a rotten apple that looks good on the outside but is rotten in the inside. Just like it's company! Oh the irony of the apple example gets me...
If you think WM6.5 is even close to iPhone OS you are either stupid, brainwashed, or work for MS. That or forced to use it for work/too poor to upgrade to something better so you make yourself believe its better.
RANK ME DOWN BUT... iPhone has 90% satisfaction rate. You gotta admit that's hard to do.
Scientology has a 90% satisfaction rate too, and for the same reason.
90% of the statistics in this thread were pulled out of your asses.
Im pretty sure this phone was built so it can be upgraded to 7 down the road.
That is my exact hope. I've been itching to find something to replace my iPhone, and WinMo 7 and this phone looks like the business.
I've been on an "I hate Apple" tear ever since I couldn't speak to someone at the apple store because I didn't "Have an appointment with a genius". Whatever. Get over yourself.
iMac, replaced with windows 7... Done (and loving it, I'm a PC, eat it apple)
iPhone, replaced with HTC HD2... Done
yeah man, im tired of my iphone also. sure the os is nice but the hardware sucks so bad. this phone will definitely b the iphone killer. to be honest, the only reason why iphone has the success that it has is because it was the first phone you truly integrate touch screen functionality. other that, iphone is a FAIL!!! but the HTC HD2 wont :)
also, i have windows 7 also....LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!
