Keepin' it real fake, part CCXXXVII: PXP-2000 aspires to little more than playing NES games, a host of video formats

If we were tickled by how quickly the PSP Go was hacked, we must say that we're surprised at how long it took for this bad boy to get KIRFed. And as most shanzai manufacturers do, they packed as many features into this portable as they could: 4.3-inch display (compared to the PSP Go's 3.8-incher), all kinds of retro gaming support (including NES/Famicom, Gameboy / Gameboy Color, SNES, SFC), a camera of some sort, FM radio, microSD card slot (the device's only form of storage), TV out, and generous video codes: RM, RMVB, AVI, WMV, ASF, MPG, MPEG, MPE, MP4, DAT, and MOV. Not exactly "aspirational" at $84, but we'll take it nonetheless.

Looks awesome!
These things always claim to do SNES, but rarely do any of them get it right. Not even the famous Dingoo a320 gets it right.
First one to do smooth SNES for under $100 has my money.
I want this more than the real PSPGo.
the PSPgo sucks:

At least with the KIRF, I can play NES games that don't cost an arm and a leg.
China should have said "fuck it" and added a second analog stick. Move start and select to the center.
PSP doesn't even do snes smooth, why would this?
So the cons are the price and no backwards compatibility.
Well, the price is dropping anyway, and of course there is no backwards compatibility. If you have games for umd, you have a psp with umd, just dont need to throw it out.
Lets see, umd drive switched out for 16GB flash drive. Which one do I want? Thought so.
And the new psp can be paired to a cellular phone so the cellular phones data plan can be used on the psp. That is awesome.
It may seem like a bad idea now, but wait a month. jeez. the iPhone wasn't fine and dandy at launch. So just STFU.
first
Downrank
FAIL
Yours was so bad it was almost good. :) Try less hard next time.
Aannnd it's actually better than the real one.
yeah,it even has a bigger screen, camera and radio,
this fake is pretty well done actually
Yup.
If they simply added a second analog stick, this would have been total win compared to the real PSP Go
Bigger =/= Better
And yes, that's what she said.
WOW they're fast!!
LOSER!!
Might as well get this, since alot of psp game suck.
PXP...
I actually rather have this than the real PSP..If only they had put a second joystick nub on it!!
Isn't it ironi that a lot of PSPs will be modded to do just these same things.
If only they'd stuck two analog sticks on it.
psp go is not hacked to use emulator yet and it's a lot more expensive.
Man the Chinese have absolutely no respect for copyright. Just because then manufacture pretty much everything we consume doesn't give them the right to pirate it all up.
And before you mention it, yes I'm aware of the Chinese copyright laws.
Unfortunally there's a lot of pirates here at engadget as we both in the same boat.
You also speak of the Chinese as if it were an monolithic entity. But there's no authority telling "the Chinese" to pirate from "us" - it is the action of individuals aided by the environment they live in. There are pirates everywhere and they pirate everything, they're generally not very picky about identity and nationality. They pirate from the Americans, Europeans, Asians or even people from the same nation. Nor I am certain what Chinese you're referring to - piracy is widespread in the PRC, the SARs and Taiwan, but less prevalent amongst overseas Chinese. Also the extent is different. In Hong Kong, for example, intellectual property is fairly well protected but software piracy is rampant.
Hey, so somebody did team up with the JoblessPunk Designs kid! Youtube rocks.
Also, want.
Even plays MP5s!
cause they're 1.67 times better than MP3s.
but sadly, it doesn't play ak-47
my god I think I'd actually rather have this than an overpriced PSPGo
umm....get this or save up for the real one... im just waiting for cfw on the psp go actually :P
SNES an MKV are well worth it.
These knock-offs always have better codec support than the originals.
Wow, thats kinda neat.
I kinda want to buy this thing for the SNES playing while at work.
If this had a PSP emulator there would be no contest.
Wow, $84. Maybe PSP Go should retail for that price.
It only does MP5? What happened to MP7 and MP8 KIRFs?
Since nobody has mentioned it yet (surprising), the gallery title should say that it "makes do with NES emulation...".
hey! this KIRF actually looks pretty cool
Woo MKV
The front says that it has "4X auto optical zoom", but that little sensor on the back doesn't seem to have any optical zoom...
Looks like a fingerprint magnet :S
the REAL ! ± ++++ is the built in calculator, notepad AND english to chinese dictionary
Much better than the original.
Sad when nintendos own handheld doesn't play GB of GBA games anymore, but a cheap knockoff of Sony's handheld can.
PMP Go!
Okay, I would seriously purchase this, where could I find it, I'm sure nowhere reputable like Amazon. ; )
If it plays NES games and Roms only, then it's already 100 times more useful/valuable than the PSP Go, or as I like to call it the PSP Fail. Also the additional features such as translator and calculator are a nice plus. Where do I buy one?
I'd pay that just for the privilage of gutting it, and slipping an Gumstix Overo Fire into it.
the screen is actually 3.5" (smaller than the PSP go's). But the res is 320x240 in a 16x9 ratio. The 4.3" is for the device apparently.
