PSP O Rly? Modder adds camera, custom firmware to Slim, films own infomercial

Very rarely are we rendered speechless by a mod, but we have just seen a video that seriously blew our minds. It seems that someone called JoblessPunk DESIGNS has managed to imbue a PSP Slim with dual nubs (more on that in the video below), a second USB port for charging, a camera, custom firmware (for emulators and the like), and switched out the UMD for 32GB flash memory. But that's only the beginning: this gentleman is on a mission to single-handedly destroy the PSP Go by bringing his own vision of handheld gaming to the masses -- and to help him do just that he's put together one hell of an infomercial, complete with multiple camera angles, a vintage cable access set, and a truly mystifying soundtrack. See for yourself after the break. KK THANKS BYE

Will this work on SERO?
Nope. It might blend but it won't play Crysis. So *yawn* NEXT...
lol how cute, omg
OMG IT'S AUDIOCLIQUE!
Oh wait, I forgot, nobody knows who that is or gives a shit.
Except the super emo mod boy up there, I guess.
i thought she said audioclit at first, at least until i saw the name pop up.
ha ha he talks funny. :) Also, does anyone know why youtube is loading SOOO SLOWW? I got a fast internet but don't know what's wrong with it.
Your internet tubes must be clogged
Modders get all the chicks.
I'd hit that. Btw my iphone can do much more thank his modded PSP
His PSP doesn't cost him $100 a month. btw you're an idiot. Just sayin'.
FYI. I purchased my iphone after the $200 price drop. And then unlocked it. So you must be really stupid to think every iPhone owner pays that much.
The vast majority of users do pay that much jackass. Your iphone comparison was totally weak and tired to the max.
I think both of those chicks were hot.
figures these emo kids would be from california
The 1st chick was just saying that he did good but in reality she didn't even care lol.
if this works without a hitch.. Sony needs to hire this guy.. like right away!!!
If this works without a hitch, sony would do whatever it can to get this guy to be silenced. what would you do if a single guy can single handedly thwart your multimillion dollar stake in handheld gaming. there would be lawsuits out the wazoo against him which is sadly how this corporate game works. Sometimes it makes you wonder whether or not companies actually listen to what the people want. This (His modded PSP) is exactly what the people want. SONY LISTEN UP
of course they dont listen, they TELL us what we want. thats the whole point of media propaganda. they make you WANT something.
This is actually kind of good to Sony. The more PSP they get to sell (to be later modded or not) the more they win.
Yea, Sony could do whatever they want, like not build this, build crappier hardware and people will STILL buy their name. Now, this guy, .........why is he asking to partner up with people with his mod, as to give them the design info, for money, and then in the same breath saying, "HERE IS THE LINK TO DO IT YOURSELF, SO IN FACT, YOU DO NOT NEED ME." but, hey, uh ....call me......
AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REALLY?! All he did was bring together a bunch of mods done by many of the modders in the PSP community and implement them on one PSP. I'll give him props for getting the extra nub, but the USB, camera and emulators is old hat for people hard-modding their systems. Just do a simple Internet search for each of the things he's done and you'll find instructions on a number of sites.
I do have to offer further props that he was able to get enough publicity to attract Engadget's hairy eye. $ony should take heed of what the modders (hardware & software alike) and embrace them instead of turning a deaf ear. If they would have followed the PSP2 render that's been floating around forever and not tried to cut out the middle-man; i.e., retailers selling physical copies of PSP software, the PSP-Go might have hit a little harder than it did. Who thought SHRINKING the game screen was a good idea?! Maybe if they would've threw in an OLED, you could overlook the shrinkage...
So vampire Eric is selling modified PSP's now? Guess the V business started going downhill.
Sony wants to do real bad things with you for that joke. :D
Lol... same thing i tought
He's also grown his hair out again...at least he's keeping better company.
Actually more stunned by the video than the mod.
The hot chick of course doesnt know sh*t bout technology, but shes cute, i'd hit it, and hit it right.
That's what she said.
where is my credit card... where is it....
Over here.
nice but I stopped watching cause the chick was just tooo annoying
Watch with the sound off .... nice scenery
Actually, I'm more interested on the chick than the psp.
Haha, I was going to post the same thing until I scrolled down and saw your comment.
"What is a rumble feature?"
MAMA PAJAMA!
Ugh.. she looks like what 98% of the birds in England do...
Wow! I wonder what the squirrels look like in England.
CORRECTION: KTHXBAI!
"DUAL NUBS! OH MY GOD"
that indeed, is what she said
She was trying to make it sound sexual. I know the guy and that's his girlfriend.
You're the man now, dog.
wait... hold on.. THAT dude has a girlfriend?!
wonders never cease. He's one Nirvana song away from ending it all, and her IQ can't be higher than 2... it's all starting to make more sense now.
cool mods tho.
I know it's not popular, and I don't really want one, but I think the PSP go is a legit product. It's a small, slick PSP. It's more expensive, and has no clunky battery draining UMD drive. People using one will have the awesome experience of having all their games in their pocket, all the time. That's worth a bit of extra cash to come people. Lots of things cost extra money. The iPhone is extremely expensive for some folks, but it's worth it to a lot of people... why can't the PSP go have an impractically priced alternative to the regular PSP?
And Sony didn't get rid of the PSP 3000... that's a confession from Sony that this PSP go is an experiment and first step into the all digital future. Everyone keeps saying Sony was way behind the digital curve with blu-ray, and now way ahead with PSP go. They are just trying various things and seeing what happens.
Meanwhile, I will keep my PSP 1000 until there is a PSP with two analog sticks. That's all I want and I don't understand why it wasn't there the entire time.
"People using one will have the awesome experience of having all their games in their pocket, all the time."
The PSP-1000 and beyond can handle rather large MemSticks (up to 32gb if I remember correctly). You can load up quite a few games on that bad boy. If you go with the stock standards, you have full access to PSN and can pretty much do what the PSP Go can (asides from being smaller). If you go with custom firmware, you can rip your UMD's directly and run them, or load up tons of emulators and ROM's for some portable retro gaming... You could easily fit all SNES and Genesis ROM's on a memstick...
In addition, the replaceable battery means you can keep playing if you have a spare battery...instead of having to tether to an outlet or wait for the thing to recharge. The original PSP, in general, was a very powerful device. IR ports, standard mini-USB and a slew of other features make it very functional and moddable (asides from Sony intentionally crippling it). I currently use it to control my XBMC Media Center like one of those $500 remote controls that have a full display on them (it runs commands through Wi-Fi, but I'm working on getting the IR port to transmit the proper remote codes).
If you have the time and will to stick with it, you can turn your PSP into a rather versatile system on the cheap.
Well, for starters, you'd have to be 12 years old to hold the thing with any comfort for any length of time, they won't be having an open app store approach so there's no competition for gaming dollars, they did not supply any means of moving already purchased physical content to a digital format, AND they made it cost a mere 50 bucks less than a PS3...
The PSP 3000 is the final word, the 'digital age' as it's called is likely inevitable, but I for one still enjoy the physical media to a certain extent. And I -am- an avid user of Netflix, Steam, iTunes, and other digital distribution networks. There are certain things that I'd just rather have physical possession of.
Well I know exactly what you mean. My brother purchased himself an original PSP and has bought a ton of games for it. He also recently purchased a PSP go. He likes the form factor, how it actually fits in his pocket now and is completely pleased with the product. I benefit from it because I get to buy his old PSP and all his games at a sweet deal ($100 bucks). While the go isn't perfect for everyone it will bring new customers who will not care about modding and hacking their PSP, and who don't sell used games. They will also sell off their old systems and it will create a new customer base for Sony. Just remember, just because it isn't perfect for some of us more technical users, doesn't mean that less savvy people won't want it, use it, and enjoy it.
now it's not longer a great gaming device
It isn't longer?
