Nokia shows off N900's sweet web browsing skills on video
Eager to get your pulsing palms around Nokia's N900? Yeah, we feel your pain. As if the phone itself and Maemo 5 haven't been talked about enough, Nokia itself has published a new video showcasing the Mozilla-based web browser. Only time will tell if said browser lives up to the hype, but if the video posted up after the break is any indication, we'd say things are looking good. Six minutes may be a long time to look at something you can't touch, but we're guessing you'd listen to six minutes of the host saying anything. Have a listen -- you'll see.

You know?! And it's better because it's only 1 finger.
If this thing plays kdice I may have to sell my iphone
this thing poops on the iphone n then sum i had a couple minutes with it on t-mobile 3g and the browser is the s**t forget about it being a resistive touch screen because it coulda fooled me when i used it the screen is more responsive then my iphone or g1s screen untill apple pulls something else out they are officially dead unless your a fanboi or too stupid to use a real smartphone that multitasks so now the big question is N900, HTC HD2(leo) or hold out for something android with snapdragon hmm tough decision
Dear ebatr8, I'd like to introduce you to punctuation. Punctuation, meet ebatr8. Be nice now.
@Akinwale
Hey a**hole if what I wanted was to type it out properly I would, it was a comment not document. Akinwale let me introduce you to being an a**hole, oh I'm sorry I see you've already met. Enough punctuation for you douche bag?
Breathe, man. Breathe.
that's actually really nice... looks like Nokia has finally felt the fire that's burning under it's butt as it's market share melts away.. now they have to do something about their pricing.. this thing probably cost like $800-1000 looking at how they price their other phones.
now if they can fix the 5 bijillion levels you need to step through to get anything done anywhere else in their OS they might be on to something...
Stop your (veiled) trolling. I believe it is about $600 in the US. I'm only going on what other commenters have said as I don't live in the US.
..there's a lot of black space around the screen...kind of like the first netbooks...
ALSO: It is confirmed that N900 will support Flash 10.1

After min 34:00, he introduces Flash 10.1 and the first phone to be used for demo is the N900. It is followed by a mysterious Android device and the Palm Pre. It is WORTH noticing that all of these devices have the much needed sometimes missed 3.5 mm headphone jack.
You can use Connect Pro plug-in to video chat on the phones. Maemo is a go.
Man, that resistive screen is so responsive!
I can't believe Engadget was bashing this device because of it...
dear nokia,
you have redeemed yourself, as far as i am concerned. still churn out good e-series devices though, and PLEASE get that E72 on contract here in the states
In case if I want watch videos from YouTube in full screen, is It possible?
More than likely. The N800 can almost do it, and that is quite a bit slower than the N900
Pretty sweet!
Not enough at the moment to make me want to ditch my 3GS, here in London, but it's what Nokia *should* be coming up with, when you consider that they've been in the commercially available mobile phone business since at least the late 1980's.
WTF are Motarola doing atm?
so does this phone have an accelerometer or is it primarily a two handed sideways device?
Well, both. It has accelerometers, but the only built-in app that handles portrait is the phone interface. 3rd-party apps can support both as well, but Nokia sees most non-phone interaction as landscape.
Now if only they would release it in the US with ATT 3g, since Tmobile 3g is all but nonexistent in many parts of the country.
Although this thing is so bad ass, I'm almost tempted to just say screw it and use it on EDGE here in Tampa (I live in a rural area and commute to the city).
It's everything I wanted in a phone, it has a resistive screen (as a real productivity device should, this isn't an MP3 player with a phone attached to it) meaning I can use the variety of input devices I have gathered over time, and it uses a linux distro and flash.
Seriously, other then a friggin reach around (and ATT 3G) could you ask for anything more?
Oh and PS:
The unlocked price in the US is $550 from many retailers, more then generous considering what an unlocked Iphone or Pre would cost you.
dugg for miley cyrus
also for painful to listen to english
why cant we get this stuff here in the states like they do in europe?!? They get awsome phones at great F*kn deals (n900&Leo both free on contract) on bttr cheaper phone plans that we here would stab for! How come we gotta get shafted when it comes tho this sh*t! Damn it T-Mobile subsidize this sh*t asap before the freakin holidays!
What do you guys think, this or HTC Touch HD2 with its massive screen... What are the main functional differences between these two devices? (Other than the obvious qwerty on the N900)
does this phone only come with landscape mode?
i have one its sweet omg i use it more than my laptop..
