Whoa,
Android overload!
Moment isn't the only Google-rife device out of Samsung that's on display at the show -- to get the whole picture you've got to turn your attention over to the
Behold II, which is more or less a
Galaxy done up in T-Mobile-specific clothes and makeup, right down to the all-important AMOLED display. Unfortunately, Sammy's been stingy with access to this one so far -- and it's apparently a non-working model, which might explain it -- but at least we can get a pretty good sense of the size of the device here. It looks plenty thin, and at a glance, it's got a higher-end appeal to it than the Moment; suffice it to say, the myTouch 3G's reign atop T-Mobile's full-touch Android lineup isn't long for this world. Check out a few shots below.
nice fone but have to say it still doessnt beat the iphone
You don't get it. Do you? It is not about beating the iPhone. Beauty, functionality and performance is in the eyes of the BEHOLDers. (pun intended)
Unless it has the specs of the Samsung Moment then it beats the iphone in just about every area but the app store.
People still buy iPhones? How very last summer.
Glad they are doing Android. The first behold had nearly no applications, or buttons on the phone for that matter, yet it had a resistive touch screen! This is definitely a huge improvement.
Why do phone manufactures continue to hate on physical keyboards? Every one of these android phones is pretty much the same except for the shape of the shell, and maybe like 2 other minor little changes. Big deal. Touch screens are cool, but they aren't functional.
Stop bowing down to RIMM and get android into competition with the blackberry. God knows apple won't....being the underdog keeps them cool enough to smell their own farts.
The Sholes and the Moment both have keyboards and don't look like teenage phones, plus they both have powerful processors and going to different networks.
I also love QWERTY, but I think it maybe be retaed to thickness. However, I don't think the G1 is that fat.
I am on T-Mobile, and what kept me from Android was the lack of 3.5 mm jack and QWERTY physical keyboard on one device.
To me personally, the iPhone is not sexy at all. In my geek dreams I see Beyonce holding a Touch Pro 2 contrasting her mocha skin but then I see the lack of 3.5 mm on the T-Mobile version and I wake up screaming in sweat.
HOWEVER, I am glad that T-Mobile is getting their phones with Operating Systems. Android may not be a giant now, but it does make your whole "wireless" experience a LOT better. You can now thing on terms of expansion, upgradeability (I hope that is a word, if not send a Tweet to Merrian Webster please), and cross-device interaction. Heck, I even wish there was a lite version of any OS - possibly Android - for the dumbphones.
Keep it up T-Mobile. I am really ticked by that "Black Project" thing you have going around.
What imaginative dreams you have at night...
Maybe a keyboard adds a bunch of overhead, size, weight and cost. And it's not really necessary just to type "LOL OMG" on Facebook. Personally though I won't buy a phone without a real keyboard.
Android pwns all!
Ok the G1....was an okay start. It certainly needs credit for being the first android phone to hit, but it does have it's flaws.
T-mobile doesn't even work in my area, so I couldn't get it if i wanted to, which I don't. So far the phones with QWERTYs just aren't that appealing. I can understand the thickness issue, but for me that's not really an issue. If you have to be a little bit thicker, but will still fulfill all my needs (that's what she said) and allowing me to only carry one device: I'm in.
If android was thrown on that 12MP Samsung camera phone (that is selling in Korea) I might take a dump in my pants.
Any hint of a release date? Really would like this phone.
I played with this phone today. A samsung rep came in and had it. Woulldnt let me take pics or vid :(
the device was nothing special. Kinda laggy between the three home pages, but still faster than the switch of omnia2's pages. The cube was sweet tho.
only thing this phone really has going on is the absolutely fantastic and stunning AMOLED display!
I will still take my pre any day...
the rep asked for a auto close function because the androids multitasking slows it down real bad.
felt good in hand, but I would take a pass.
I call BS
test me dude.. i do not lie. I'm not a child
btw, he said release was planned for december/january
cool but will it have a faster processor than all the other android phones on the market?
If it's another 528MHz processor, which if it the U.S. version of the i7500 Galaxy, then forget it. The 3D cube UI that is over android is very processor intensive and the 528MHz won't handle it very well. Unfortunately, there is probably no 800MHz like the Moment, bummer.
3D effects are handled almost entirely by the GPU, not the CPU(I'm a software engineer specializing in 3D graphics). I agree with you that the 528MHz sucks but at least get your facts straight.
still no confirmation if it will have the 8GB internal storage huh.
Another 528mhz Android phone is not that interesting to me, but I think the Cliq has the sweetest setup thus far. Keyboard and 5mp camera, plus standard headphone jack - I would erase the Motoblur widgets and call it good. You know, the G1 has been out for 18+ months and nothing to come out through 2009 has significantly improved upon it, except for the general appearance. G1, we were not worthy.
for some reason i couldn't reply to orisis' post...
@osiris
i swear on my mothers grave! It had a sideways launching program dock from left to right and the icons scrolled up and down.. the designated cube button was cool and the youtube portion of the cube launched a rolodex like index of the videos that you flick through..
mark my words.
this phone is great the speed depends on what you do with your homescreen tho my boss had this phone for about a week so i got alot of hands on with it using it all the time feels good in the hand the camara is awesome n the interfaces is all im not to fond of samsung really adds some stuff that really add to the functionality of it making your life easier such as toggles in the notifications bar a larger calendar than the normal android view where u only see today u actually see the whole month on this the screen needs commending tho it is dope and shows alot of great pictures and video my thoughts are that once some custom roms are made if possible to get on to this phone it will be awesome lag only happens when you clutter your homescreen or run alot of apps only complaint that is major is battery life but my iphone and g1 are just as bad n im sure my touchpro2 wont be any better
oh missed something no internal storage guys at least not large amounts the little bit is only for the apps not for anything else this phone is in between the galaxy and galaxy lite like if they had a baby oddly enough is the best way to describe it if you been looking for android with a decent camara and a good look its the phone for you the moment looks stupid lets be honest looks like a teen phone as well the sholes looks good cant wait to see vzws data plans for it but the price is worth the coverage however motorola can royally fuck up some good phones hopefully they do a good job this time to save there company looks like at&t is last to the android game but im sure they are having a hard time as it is giving us iphone users a mediocre if not horrible network experience n to the apple fanbois while you may claim your iphone is this and that it doesnt multitask and when ran side by side with a vzw, sprint and tmo phone on 3g it shows you how slow your data really is dont believe me look up all the latest speed tests vzw is number one n at&t is dead last
UMA please, for effs sake!
I really dig this phone! Why is everything compared to the iPhone as if it needs to "beat" it. Isnt that subjective anyway? Aren't products supposed to be different to appeal to those with different desires and needs?
I've had access to a G1 for a year. I enjoy the OS (1.0 and 1.5) I just wasn't terribly thrilled with the hardware. Thats my .02.
Sweet!
looks like T-Mobile is very stupid and getting late for American markets.
crazy buying in some stupid-ass phones.
but its going to be too late when, the trend changes and 4G is just right around the corner.
so what's 3G going to do by then.
only good thing about T-Mobile is its relatively cheap plans.
if they don't wake up and concentrate more on American markets, they'll sink down like stupid-ass AOL a few years ago or so.
just to prove my point, check out this new little baby, just coming in town, www.clear.com
I have the behold samsung cell phone. I think behold 2 looks nice. I hope this time it has apps and wifi. I like you can go on youtube with the cube button. I hope they can do a trade in special or some deal for the old behold. Another thing would be nice if you can keep the old behold and they look up your account and give you a discount just for having the old phone and get the new one would be great deal.
