I need to hold myself back until I can get everything I want. Android 1Ghz Processor AMOLED 3.2" < Screen < 3.6" Capacitive Multi-touch Slide-out QWERTY Top Battery Life (1500mAh?) 3.5mm headphone All the basic links: 3G/4G WiFi Bluetooth 5MP or Greater Camera w/auto-foucus/flash Video Recording 64GB MicroSD slot(that I don't have to remove the battery to replace) And of course all the other normal abilities as far as media formats, messaging, calling, etc...
Is this really too much to ask?? They are soooo close. But can't have me as a customer just yet...
He actually has a good list of thing's a normal phone should have. Very close to the list that I would love to have on a phone. I still am sceptical about android, Because I am eager to see what WM7 has to offer. But let me translate you're statement in English for everyone else to read on this comment section.
Hey My Name is Joshua Munoz I am A troll, and I hope someone sees my post so that I can feel better.
I almost went for an Iphone a while back until I heard android was coming. I've always been a big believer in the potential of open source.(even though android is not entirely open) It's dev essentials are. Which is what matters most I suppose. I'm usually the "dive in and ask questions later type". I must be getting old if I'm actually holding out for what I want.
Most of that stuff's pretty reasonable, but I think you might have a few expectations that are just a bit too lofty.
For starters, there aren't really any 4G towers online in the US yet, so nobody's putting 4G chips into their phones since they can't use them as a selling point. I'd say it will probably be a year or two before we start seeing manufacturers really start adopting 4G in the US
Likewise, retail available MicroSD cards currently top out at 16GB. So no manufacturers are going to the extra expense of creating a MicroSD slot that will support 64GB that they can't actually market as a feature. Flash memory doubles in capacity about every 12 months, so we're still about 2 years away from 64GB MicroSD cards available at retail.
1GHz ARM CPUs and AMOLED screens are fairly new features. They cost more and they present new engineering challenges to the manufacturer. Since manufacturers generally try to keep their price below around $200-$250 with contract, they're limited in their ability to implement these features at their current prices unless the carrier is willing to throw in a heftier than usual subsidy. Since both these technologies are already on the market, I'd say give it about 6-12 months for prices to come down to a level where more manufacturers are ready to start picking them up.
Yeah, I was getting a bit ahead of the game on a few specs I was demanding. Maybe if we ask for a lot, they will meet us half way...
I don't understand how they can forgo multi-touch if Microsoft has it on their smart phones as well. Is it really still a patent issue?
1Ghz would be nice; however, the speed I want is just so the phone will operate smoothly. I've read a lot of the HTC android products being rather sluggish when you've got a couple things running in the background.
Is this really to much to ask? Why yes, yes it is... maybe by Q4 of 2010 you will get your wish. It has been a long wait just to get Android on Sprint and now we have 2 decent offerings to choose from. I'm going to settle for what i can get. I'll be snatching up a HERO before the end of the year.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

You asked this last time, too... Your point is?
4G is considered "basic" already? I'm sorry, I hadn't realized that I got in a time machine to 2012.

Wait, that's your list and you almost went iPhone? Yea, that makes sense.
I'm guessing once you can get those specs, you'll complain it doesn't have a teleporter/stun gun/time machine, etc.
Very funny.... although you're right. The grass is always greener....

Would free with contract be too lofty as well?
