Kingston's MobileLiteG2 card reader makes your thumb look huge
There's diminutive, and then there's Kingston's MobileLiteG2 card reader. The second-generation of this here reader supports a wide variety of formats (SD, SDHC, microSD, microSDHC, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo and Memory Stick Micro), and it also boasts retractable covers on each side to protect the USB connector and the memory card. At just 2.45- x 1.16- x 0.646-inches in size, there's an 87.425 percent chance that you'll lose this before the MobileLiteG3 comes out, but honestly, that's probably a-okay with Kingston. Those looking to downsize in a big way can order this bugger up for $11 (for the reader itself), $28.50 (bundled with a 4GB SDHC card) or $46 (bundled with an 8GB SDHC card).

that pricing is weird
nvm im just used to newegg pricing on SD cards
Nobody should be paying much more than $2/GB for SDHC cards these days.
@Tacitus,
Unless they need a card that actually performs well and doesn't randomly fail. I'd rather spend $5-6/GB for quality flash and have it work every time than $2/GB for flash that stops working in half a year and corrupts everything on it when it goes.
@ Jason Likta
I'm not very informed in SDHC brands and technology, for my uses the $2/GB works. I've got an ativa and 3 kingstons (2, 4, 8 GB) and theyve worked well for me over the last year
Which brands are better and worth the money in the event something was to go wrong with my current flash cards?
If my pc didn't have this fancy (and still unused) all-in-one card reader built in, I'd be interested.
But I'm still plugging my cams and phone and stuff into the usb hub rather than pulling the card for transfers..
Cool product though Kingston.
its much better quality if you pull out the card and put it in a reader.
USB route is safer. My HP laptop's card reader ruined my XD and microSD card.
@ austin
There's no difference in quality if you plug your camera in instead of putting the card into a card reader.
>> "There's no difference in quality if you plug your camera in instead of putting the card into a card reader."
Not quality... I'm sure he was talking about the speed of the transfers from the camera.
Card readers are almost always faster than plugging the camera into the computer... especially with fast cards and a UDMA card reader.
I have a pretty small SDHC (and its variants) reader. It measures 2.25 x 1.35 x 0.50. It set me back $20 which included an 8GB SDHC class-6 card.
Unless you really need to read both SDHC and Sony formats, this is considerably smaller and cheaper:

I need XD
what now?
That link only includes a reader for a MicroSDHC card so it's even more limited than just not reading Sony cards.
@M C
Dude if you are using your xD card in a digicam, use it only thru the cams USB.I bricked 2 xD cards by using them with my laptops built in card reader.
It looks bulky in the picture :D
Die.
people need to stop supporting Memory Stick so it just dies already. i made the mistake of getting a Sony phone that uses Memory Stick Micro and its the dumbest thing ever. just make everything SD-HC or CF and the world will be a happier place
Screw you Steve Jobs, instead of removing the expansion slot from the new Macbook Pros, you could have threw one of these in the box for all the people that need an SD slot. Apple, you are really irritating alot of pro users.
doesn't the 17" MBP still have an expansion slot? Of course it does. But i'd be willing to bet your needs aren't "pro" enough to justify ponying up the dough for the 17" so instead you just bitch and moan since you're no longer able to use your express slot for all the gadgets you like to attach to your computer. If you're a pro, then buy the 17". If not, then you probably don't need the expansion slot.
maybe he's a pro who wants a fifteen inch screen?
So he's not a "Pro" (laughable) because he didn't want the 17"? What a snooty ass assumption.
I win

Though i guess the Kingston supports more formats, i need to use an adapter to get my MicroSDs to fit in there. Still cooler looking nevertheless :P
^Wow, really?
Agreed. Don't know why they stopped making these.... I have a 1 GB that I still use daily.
Yeah, Those Sandisk Plus cards are great.
I have a few and wish all SD cards were like this.
They even have activity lights.
The only thing missing is a hole so that you can put one on your keyring.
