Keepin' it real fake, part CCXXXVIII: Palm Pre knockoff doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up
Yes, this was only a matter of time, and we're a little surprised we didn't see one earlier. Regardless, this is the Palm Pre knockoff we've been waiting for. Seemingly called just iPhone +QWERTY -- this KIRF is being marketed as just that -- a real business phone with a hybrid identity blending the BlackBerry and the iPhone. And really, that's not too bad of a description for this little dude, we guess. Boasting analog TV, Bluetooth, and an FM radio, it runs the much-loved OPhone operating system, and can be had for 600 RMP (about $88). There are two more shots after the break. Hit the read link for a full peek.

Can this one sync to iTunes? ;)
LOL! You my friend, win at life.
Just as well as its muse, I'm sure.
So, yes, it does sync with iTunes?
It will Sync with iTunes only until Opple or Plam decide to start a cat and mouse game while Sorny sits back and watches them bicker!
it syncs with iTunse
Good and bad is also a 600 cell phone, why does such a cottage?
Hit up the read link on google translate ;)
nope but It able sync with java version Itunes :p
Please don't flame me.... it is just a question I have... Who is to blame for all these fakephones? Is it plain reverse-engineering ? or is it that outsourcing has given the Chinese market the blueprints, expertise, and parts to be able to reproduce the phones?
The price of the fakephones makes me wonder how much we overpay for our phones. I guess the 1-yr warranty is what inflates the price for so much...
Most of the manufacturing is done there, anyway. The price is cheap for a few reasons. First, the quality control on these is nonexistent, keeping manufacturing costs down. Second, there's not much of a middle man--it's straight from factory to sale. Third, the hidden costs of development (e.g. WebOS in the case of Palm) are not being included into these (which is why they have free/hacky OSes). Finally, there isn't a name brand to justify jacking up the price.
These phones are not reverse engineered, they usually look nothing like the originals. Some chinese company designed a basic phone with bluetooth and all the otehr features that they all have and hten people make shells for them that look like other phones.
We do overpay for our phones, there is no reason why the iPhone should cost more than $200 off contract. It is basically just a Touch with about $10 worth of extra radios and sensors on it.
@DR
Well that is true, but then there's no reason why I should be $589. I think the price attributes to the cost put in to manufacture the device, and subsidization is used to lower that price as the money payed from a monthly contract over a 2 year plan would cover the phone unlocked.
I could be wrong, but this is just my theory.
@N900
iSuppli put the cost of materials of an iPhone at about $180. Granted, Apple still make a fortune on it, but take into account engineering, design for hardware/OS, testing, etc, there's no way Apple would sell it for $200.
The Parm Fre probably sits around $20, design involved looking at a real Pre and seeing what parts preexisted for sale to match the shape, then filling it with basic phone hardware and installing the cheapest OS possible. You won't be getting a 600mhz ARM chip in this phone, it won't be multitouch and good luck trying to do a warranty return on the thing
If the fake phones were exact duplicated, then outsourcing or reverse engineering could contribute. But, all these fake phones merely look similar, they almost never have the same functionality. In this case, the design of the phone body (or case) is similar in form or function, but the software is just terrible, as is the case with most knock-offs. I have a clone iphone I got from China and the size and looks are amazingly convincing, but it is painful to use the software, and the features are no where near an iphone. As soon as you turn it on, it is obvious it is not an iphone. But in some cases, the clones are very nice to use and sometimes have more functions then the original (rarely). The knock-offs are just good copy cats (in looks) in most cases.
That's supposed to be a knock off of the Pre? Your doing it wrong.
agree, this doesnt look like a palm pre, it's not that round and not as ugly.
I thought the same thing at first but the keyboard is an exact replica. So that, coupled with the choice in former factor totally KIRFs it up in my eBook.
This is a sneak peak at the new transformer in Transformers III. It's called the "Shittobot".
So how long before an Android ROM is hacked to work with this again?
With language differences aside, I have no clue what the Chinese are thinking half the time. Without even seeing video, the OS looks like shit.
Ok, im starting to like the idea of these kirfs. Look at all the choices in the Shanzai marketplace. We have none of that. Granted the quality is not as good (and security for that matter), but wouldnt you rather have 50 KIRF's to choose from at a really low cost rather than any of the phones Verizon offers (I have Verizon so thats why I say). Stick Android on one of these things and send it my way!
You know the Palm Pre has hit the big time when it has an inspired a KIRF knock-off!!

Oh...I just did that copy-n-paste myself...lol!
hahahahahhaahah
Ahhhhaha! I learned a new phrase today.
I wish there was an online store were I could score some of this fun kirf stuff. Like www.kirf.com, it could be the next woot.
it's called ebay
there are a few sites that sell a lot of KIRF phones and are honest about it (as opposed to cheating people who want to buy the real thing). the biggest one i know of is www.totobay.com, but they also have some KIRFs on dealextreme
Doesn't look like a Pre, the slider qwerty has been done before by lot a companies.... looks quite generic.
Though, I wonder why pretty much all of the KIRF phones have FM and in the US, we only get a few phones with it. It would be a nice addition to a smartphone. I can't see FM costing more then $2. Charge me $182 for the HTC Hero with FM... not that big of a deal.
In europe FM radio is almost a standard feature in phones, even many of the cheaper phones have it, it's especially useful in the phones that are so cheap they don't have any space for mp3s
"The body of the cottage without a logo may be too cold a cell phone"
I LOOOOOVE bad translations!
2 million pixel camera is absolutely worth to insert, but even in the back even has a famous JAVA, Bluetooth, FM radio, analog TV logo, it seems this phone though to conceal their real names but also knows how to reveal their skills.
I LOL'd for real!
Last one I promise! ;)
Though no way of knowing her Yoshina, but we already know the distribution of its whole body out of the cottage smell, just Apple's iPhone's UI and the QWERTY keyboard combination of full-Ray to me already, but Flanagan ecstasy of the TV antenna is to OPhone For more crying without tears, good and bad is also a 600 cell phone, why does such a cottage?
If things go right I might be showing her my OPhone...
*cups hand and puts it in front of my mouth* Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh
haha you win
Wait a second. $80 for an Android phone? I suppose that's what it will be worth (horrible CPU, display etc.), but still... $80?
"Until now, still have not forgotten "slide to unlock" the stunt, Jobs comrades can take comfort in the fighting in Shenzhen tyrant who kept the miss as far away as the United States in the design of Apple iPhone and you."
Yeah....whatever.
Incidentally, it has one nice upgrade: A dedicated D-pad. Dear manufacturers, capacitive screens are nice and all, but give back the D-pads, damn you!
*glares at his once-friend HTC*
Want a phone that combines the looks or simulates the features of several popular phones? There's a KIRF for that.
Congrats Palm, you finally made a device popular enough that people wants to copy it.
I'd buy that for a (88) dollar!
Typo, 600 RMP is supposded to be 600 RMB
This is more like the bastard child from several unknown fathers conceived in a cellphone gangbang. I see a little Pixie, Asus P835 and iPhone in there...If I was a betting man, I'd peg the iPhone as being the high priced whore...just a wild guess ;)
It doesn't look much like the Pre, but if it had a decent OS, I'd say it might be a decent phone.
What i don't get is that if the makers of fakes have no imagination .. why are they in this business and who would buy these fakes .. i think it is a bit embarrassing if you have a fake palm pre or iphone or the such.
