Sony's VAIO L 1080p all-in-one PC is perfect for rockin' moms (video)
Sony has a long history of VAIO all-in-one machines, usually taking the party line by offering swank aesthetics combined with slightly cringe-inducing price tags. When we went hands on with its latest, the VAIO L, we found it to look just as good as those earlier ones, but its $1,300 price tag to be rather fair. Built into a 24-inch, 1920 x 1080 (1080p) touchscreen it's meant to serve as both an HDTV and a PC, featuring an HDMI inport where you can plug in your PS3. Yes, that's what mom calls it before she starts rocking out with the kiddos in the video after the break. It has a 500GB drive for your apps and for DVR recordings through Windows 7 Premium, packs a Blu-ray writer, a Core 2 Duo processor, and "loads of RAM." Sure, there are cheaper ways to get an all-in-one, but only one comes standard with an inport.

The screen is amazing. I had the chance to check it out during the filming of the video and I fell in love with it. I agree about that finger prints on the screen can be annoying, but I think interacting with the screen through touch is a benefit is worth it. I loooove that you can use it as a tv as well...brilliant! It's about time.
oh and...Das Boot - I must be objectified because I'm a woman? You're hilarious. Love to have you sitting across the board room table from me. I'd eat you alive :p Of course, I mean that in the nicest of way :)
If you value reliability, good service and your business, I would NOT even touch Sony with a barge pole, hope this saves others from serious down-time when using VAIOs for business. I am absolutely convinced Sony VAIO is designed to fail and a complete rip-off. They should be avoided for their lousy and incompetent customer service, especially in Europe.
Once it BSODs you have an expensive brick, go with a manufacturer that *tries* to backup their products, it’s a scandal the way Sony handled the GPU problem.
Look's pretty cool to me, kinda reminds me of Minority Report. I think my kids would like it, are there more games for the touchscreen?
But I would choose this over iMac for a very lame excuse that I haven't used OSX in my lifetime :P
Where can i get ym hands on such a slim keyboard?... anyone, please? :)
I saw this computer in Hong Kong, the multi-touch is not soo good/ look my video http://www.techguru.com.br/sony-vaioL-deu-vontade-de-ter-um.htm
The multi-touch does seem to lag quite a bit on some of those applications.... I'd want to "experience" this machine before making a purchase. Other than that, it looks to be a compelling package.
looks like hell to me - trying to cram too much into one box. Better off with a laptop and a TV. Like the ability to have video / photo library available but no need for powerful hardware for that. Blu-ray won't be around for long - no point in building up a collection there - better off streaming HD... Cloud is the way fwd.
