Eye-Fi bringing trio of WiFi-enabled SD cards to UK
If you're an US-based company, you'd be kidding yourself if you said you didn't want to take advantage of the pound-to-dollar exchange rate. We can't say for certain that the current Forex ratings on currency is why Eye-Fi is suddenly barging into the British market place, but whatever the case, UKers can look forward to slapping a WiFi-enabled SD card into their digicam starting on October 19th. The Eye-Fi Home Video, Eye-Fi Share Video and Eye-Fi Pro will all be splashing down in 4GB flavors, with prices set for £49.99, £69.99 and £199.99 in order of mention. Got it, chum?

I wish they make GPS cards,, to tag pictures where there is no wi-fi
From what I remember, they do. The top model supports geocaching, and lower models you can buy it as a subscription. (i.e. the electronics are in there, but disabled.)
* sorry, geotagging.
@Paul Maddox:
Yeah, but it does so using your WiFi connection. It has no GPS, so geotagging doesn't work if you're not connected.
pick up the pace, it needs more storage capacity.
And lower those prices please!
But that's not cool and trendy.
Great, but plain 4Gb SD cards can be picked up for well under £10, in fact you can pick up a 32Gb card for £60, only £10 more than the cheapest Eye-Fi.
Mmm, truth be told, I'd rather pay £4 for a standard 4GB card off eBay and transfer the photos manually.
Actually, you can use the Eye-Fi Card to connect to phones, today. Just pick any WinMo or Symbian phone that supports ad-hoc Wi-Fi, use the Pro card, and you're all set. The phone will act as a router, and you could upload your photos and movies, from anywhere.
:-) Hopefully at some point, this will also be supported on the iPhone and Palm Pre, without jailbreaking or rooting them.
Great!great
200 GBP? better get a Camera which has GPS, Wifi, bluetooth etc out-of-stock. Samsung ST1000, 300 GBP.
not impressed actually
Looking forward to a European launch... I have been waiting for this product for som eyears now. Hope it would be for sale in Denmark - before Christmas :)
I would love one of these if I could just have one thing.... Direct control!
I do not want to have to use special software that connects to their server. I either want to directly WiFi my pics to my laptop, or through my home LAN, or to my home's IP directly via an open WiFi hotspot.
I hate these devices that are locked to a "service provider" Because if the company goes under, you now have a really expensive SD card.
I have purchased too many service based devices that suddenly stopped working because the company died. I will not make that mistake again.
It will only come to the iPhone and Pre, when you pay an extra monthly "Tethering" fee.
They wil never do it for free. (Which annoys me because I would like to be able to get online once ina while, but not often enough to pay the $60 or so a MONTH to Sprint for Tethering.)
"a US based" not "an US based" please.
it is "an" because "US" starts with a vowel :) just so ya know

@ abbysdaddy1984
Unfortunately that vowel trick doesn't always work. Rather than try to argue with you and toss out "just so you know," I thought a link to a credible source would help.
According to the Online Writing Lab at Purdue, it's "a US". A quick google search will find many other links that tell you the same.

Just put this COOL orange card in your girlfriends camera.
Use your imagination.
This is a solution for everyone that has ever been asked "How do I get my pictures onto the internet?" by someone that shouldn't be anywhere near your computer.
