Blaze announces 'Wii style' Motion Freedom 3D controller for PS3, really
We were fairly impressed by Blaze's knack for impressive but questionably useful gadgets when it introduced a three-cart contraption for the DSi last month, but it looks like it's truly outdone itself with its latest peripheral. While it's possible that it's the result of some miscommunication or a bet taken to its limits, it does appear that the company is indeed set to release a controller that can only be described as a Wiimote for the PlayStation 3. Of course, it's still a bit light on specifics, but Blaze says its so-called Motion Freedom 3D Controller will open up "unthinkable gaming possibilities," and let you "become one" with games like Sega Tennis and Tiger Woods Golf. It's even been "ergonomically designed from the ground up." How can you possibly go wrong?

Remember when Sony said the Wii would fail?
they just didn't see how nintendo would pull it off. They were evaluating...
That's your best excuse?
Remember when Nintendo said the Wii was fun?
@ darbear: "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." - Mark Twain
Does the remote come with worthwhile software?
Remember when Nintendo had a seal of quality? just askin
I tried to figure out what they meant by "unthinkable gaming possibilities", but then I realised my efforts were futile. Now my brain is stuck in an infinite loop
float x = 0.1;
while (x != 1.1) {
printf("x = %f\n", x);
x = x + 0.1;
}
I don't remember Sony saying the Wii would fail, though I don't doubt they might have. Which is pretty hilarious.
Of course, Nintendo helped develop the original Playstation, which sold more consoles than any home console Nintendo has ever sold... and they said it would fail and burned their partner at the time... Sony. So I guess all these companies just tend to have a certain... outlook.
Thank goodness for competition, though.
@Spock
I ran it for fun xD
Engadget, this was talked about on the OFFICIAL PLAYSTATION FORUMS THREE DAYS AGO.
Nobody thinks it's real (including me).

"I'm calling fake. Simply because there is no specification on how "motion control" for it works."
(My quote. Nobody replied to the thread after that because they all feel the same about what I said. How the fuck does motion control work without infringing on nintendo's patents? Because this thing CLEARLY doesn't use the PSEye.)
remember when the wii wasnt full of shovelware
oh w8 thats right...
i hope it comes with an ergonomic rubber wrist band to prevent flying into tvs ;p
Yea we definitely don't want any of this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrrvkPo7TZ4&feature=channel_page ..... or do we?
So were the guys behind this like frozen since before E3?

umm..you mean kind of like what sony's actual motion tech that THEY'RE working on is?
Why do I predict a lawsuit in the near future >.>
Wow...

I'm sensing a lawsuit in the near future...
I dont know about you guys, but my lawsuit senses are tingling.
Does the nunchuk come with two control sticks?

Does it come with something like the Wiimote condom?
I don't see a wrist strap. You better protect your TV!
Wii mote clone anyone ? omg cant thay jest admit Nintendo was right and ask them to make them one.
What in blazes is that thing?!?!?!?!
If Sony succeeds in cutting into Nintendo's non-gamer market, Nintendo might have to come out with a controller and actual games.
By "designed from the ground up", I'm assuming they meant they were lying on the floor in a drug-induced stupor, then suddenly woke up screaming, and this was the first thing they drew.
I think Sony was nuts not to release some kind of motion controller for the PS2. a $99 PS2 with motion controller support would have gotten a lot of the wii's ports, already had a huge install base (the motion aspect could be a cheapish add on), and plays DVDs.
I don't think it would really compete against the PS3, and it sure wouldn't today if Sony decided they were interested in playing to win.
Until then, Nintendo's intelligent marketing will continue to win the day.
