MyRacer's Q10 is the PMP with a funky little dial
Functionally, MyRacer has yet to really knock our socks off. But, its lineup of PMPs has always featured some lovely design cues, and the Q10 is perhaps the nicest yet. It has some subtly '70s styling and that cheeky volume knob with an illuminated red surround that would probably result in you getting an earful whenever sliding it into a back pocket. As you'd expect it has all the major audio and video formats covered (including DivX, Xvid, MP3, AAC, and WMA) and also includes an FM tuner, transmitter, and a voice recorder. There's 8GB of storage behind the 3-inch, 400 x 240 touchscreen and a microSD slot for expansion. No word on price, but we're unlikely to see this one Stateside anyway, so enjoy these fine pictures and see if you can spot the snail.

Why do the promotional shots contain Apple Earbuds?
kinda kick-ass actually.
reminds me of old transistor radios.
Really nicely designed - Looks like an older B+O product almost.
Why did they add the snail on top in the second image?
I think the snail, l'escargot, is very classy too.
Snails are awesome.
Classy
Nice... but that dial is going to become a real pain about 10 minutes after starting to use the thing...
I think it's some kind of built in anti-skinny-jean system.
Looks like an iriver. I used to have an iriver t30... it reminds me of a more innocent time, when 512MB was enough...
Yeah - the wheel/dial is like the one on the SPINN.
They should have added a second knob on that thing so then it could at least look like a "myRacer" .
"Its boxy...but it's good."
I didn't know MyRacer was actually made by Volvo, who would have though? There are some Crazy People in this world.
Like already said, very classy. Like a fancy, glassy, polish old stereo.
Those are really fantastic designs. They ought to make an internet tablet using those design cues.
400x240 resolution sucks. Even my 5yr old Dell Axim X51V can do 640x480.
First mfr to release a 800x480 AMOLED PMP with a 4.2" screen that can playback all formats including MKV H.264 will win my $300-$400.
I agree, screen is not impressive:
"3.0 inch (diagonal: 76mm) TFT LCD, WQVGA (400x240), 17,600,000 color support"
Beautiful. I love devices with proper volume knobs, too.
FANTASTIC!
Finally... a PMP that I can't just bring to the gym and plop down onto the treadmill (or whatever) because that stupid knob is jutting out from the *bottom* of the device.
I guess putting the volume knob on top and keeping the bottom edge level would have make too much sense.
What the fuck!
Classy, Stylish. Hope it goes international...
Oh good, another 8GB PMP. That'll hold all my music, and all my movies too.
yep
The one with the dark grey bezel looks slick...too bad a 3" screen PMP is completely useless to anyone who already owns any form of smartphone whatsoever (and i'm guessing most engadget readers already do, or are considering buying one) as 8gb of storage is pretty standard for internal memory / microSD capacity, and 3" screen is now pretty average too.
Same design with a 100+ gb hard drive (or 64gb ssd, whatever) might actually be interesting...Yawn
Some of us can't afford a smartphone with a rediculously priced plan...
This kinda looks like a iRiver product to me imo
