HTC HD2 turns up in purported T-Mobile USA materials

We've already had some indication that HTC's take on Windows Mobile 6.5, the HD2, would be headed to T-Mobile UK, and heard straight from HTC itself that the phone would indeed be headed to the US in next year, but it looks like we may now have one more key piece of the puzzle. If that slide pictured above is authentic as it's purported to be, it looks like the smartphone will be heading to none other than T-Mobile USA, and presumably sometime in that "early 2010" period HTC mentioned. Of course, this slide noticeably doesn't make mention of Windows Mobile at all, so the phone in question could also conceivably be HTC's rumored Android-based Dragon handset -- or... not.

looks like a fake, check the date at the bottom right: 07/30/2009
i knew about this 3 weeks ago, now everyone is catching up to speed. t-mobile is really stepping up their selection. BTW don't be shocked to see a android verison of this phone too.
Seriously they must be really going for the win. If they get this AND the N900 as people are expecting there will be riots in the streets and it will cause a ripple in the space time continuum. Not to mention iphone fanboys bursting into flames. Im so glad their parent company is twisting their arm :) I'm all for the best handsets in the market, great customer service and cheaper bills!! where's my $50 unlimited plan?
Oh god, please run Android.
I'm good, I prefer Windows Mobile.
I'm not against WinMo at all, but I've been extremely happy with Android. I just want better performance than my sluggish G1 can give.
They just need to start making phones where we can change the OS at will, or multiboot easily. Android, WinMo, etc.
not to mention better battery management!
Please be quad-boot - Android, WinMo, WebOS, and iPhoneOS.
I'm serious - it's my dream phone.
this would be using winmo7 by the time it comes out right? Have you seen the screen shots of winmo7 and with their sense ui this would be a more polished phone with winmo7 than it would with the basic android os... but then again they do have something similar to sense ui for android. i guess i dont care, just give me a phone that works!!!
Nope WM is good enough for me after seeing this: http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/10/09/10-minutes-long-htc-hd2-hands-on-video/
I don't know why you're ranked down. I ranked you up cause I want to see Android running on this.
The guys at Xda-Developers are working on getting Android on some HTC Winmo phones so there is still hope.
I have a Touch Pro for work. I use it hours hours each day. I've played around with the 6.5 interface with a hacked ROM (Thank you XDA developers.). When it comes to touch, 6.5 really is NO better then 6.1. So no. You may prefer it and that is fine. But from the standpoint of a phone Windows Mobile has years to go. It has never elevated itself away from a PDA OS with phone features bolted onto it and that is where it fails and will continue to fail until MS realized they need to do what they did from the transition from CE to the Pocket PC and that is revamp the UI literally from the ground up. Until then they will still be on the mobile phone equivalent of Windows 95. And I'm starting to seriously question if Windows Mobile 7 will bring about the equivalent of XP let along Win7.
No, Windows is basically dead on the mobile front. I mean when you have Android and the reality of a free license....Android may still be a little rough around the edges, but its FAR better right now then Win Mo is. And by next spring which is the rumored date when it comes out of development and then add, lets say optimistically, 4 months for the handset developers to get it up and running on new hardware. We are now talking mid to late summer and most likely Android 2.5
The future of win Mo does not look good other then for business users. That's about it.
Agreed. The Stylus OS is done. HTC will continue to surfer if they
continue their path with WinDINOSAUR Mobile.
John Doe,
Winmo 6.5 with a TouchFlo3D interface is very finger friendly. In the last week I have only used the stylus about 3 times and I think it was more out of habit from Winmo 6.1.
I am a little concerned about being forced to only use my finger with windows mobile. I haven't tried 6.5, but with 6.1 on my Touch, I couldn't imagine giving up the d-pad and stylus. Especially the d-pad... I mostly get by with a very limited amount of finger usage and the d-pad. But without the d-pad I think I'd have to break out the stylus often.
tin.. tinn.... tiiinnnnnnnnn....
By the way it can't be the dragon cause the dragon doesn't used snapdragon processor.
Why don't you talk about things you know something about?
i think he was...

Wow engadget, can you guys take any longer posting this!
Oh God, please STFU.
lol, I'm not allowed to prefer one mobile platform over another? I like my G1 but I definitely want a faster processor and bigger screen. Google already integrates all the services I use so tightly that I have little reason to want to switch to WinMo, even though I have nothing against it.
Judging by your first comment may be you should STFU
google needs better power management, even a blackberry lasts 4 to 5 days of use that's w a 1380mA battery.
It says "Fantastic Web-browsing experience" so its OBVIOUSLY not running Winmo.......
amirite???
/s
Well since this device will run Mobile Opera, no you are not right.
whooosh!
this post was on gizmodo this morning....you guys are getting slow
gizmodo also is fun of a bunch of massive tools. looks like this place is becoming more like it every day. i don't like it.
if it got Android i will take it.
My contract just expired and want to renew. If I can get the hardware in the HD2 with Android, then it is a done deal.
God, this is so blatantly a fake.
"Mobile Entertainment like you have nere seen (engaged with) before"
Really?
Probably mobile entertainment meant downloadable movies for most people and some casual gaming. Does android or win mo have any serious games designed for the OS not just some rehashed java midp?
Phone pictured on the slide has a windows logo button (3rd button in from the left). HTC2 is upgradeable to win mo 7 too.
I sent this in last night btw 10 and 11 PM PST and it's not posted until now. Engadget is just too slooooooooooooooooow.
Can I be you?
This will be an AT&T phone. HTC is sending mostly Android phones to Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. Because AT&T doesnt want anything to compete with the iPhone. As far as windows mobile and the iPhone, they're just totally different. But I also believe this phon will be unlocked with no ties to any company, it will cost them too much. For example, who carries the N97? No one!
If I'm singing an AT&T contract one way or another I don't see why they would care which phone/mobile OS I would be using.
This Phone will be an BEAST!!!!!
please run android!!
Yes Android, you're looking kinda tubby these days. A bit of exercise can do you no harm...
T-mobile means Wind Mobile in Canada!
HTC CEO Peter Chou confirmed that the HD 2 (Windows version) will be coming to the US in Q2, 2010 which coincides with the rumored release date for T-Mobile.
Its going to be Windows Mobile.
http://www.slashgear.com/htc-hd2-gets-official-hands-on-video-0659275/
Sorry, meant to say Q1 2010.
He said Q1. I guess u have T-Mobile. The fact is the phone will cost alot. Even higher than a full priced iPhone. It will be unlocked for the masses.
It is obvious that it will cost a lot, you don't need to be smart to know that. Obviously It will also be sold unlocked because it is GSM and every GSM phone is sold unlocked meaning no carrier BS on it.
Anybody else think "Yum." "Yum." "WANT."
No.. you're the only one with the "Yum yum"
