Available from the App Store (of all places), the software lets HAVA owners control it all remotely -- including cable, satellite, and DVR. What's more, you can stream your recorded programming right onto the handset for all those times when you can't stand to be apart from Jim Cramer (few and far between, we know). Supports iPhone and iPod touch (with OS 2.2.1 or higher) and goes for $9.99. PR after the break.

Looks neat. Discovery Channel, HBO, Weather Channel. News-enthusiasts will be set. Cool app!
But... but... the Apple Haters said I could only get fart apps in the App Store.
What makes you think...nevermind, you're paranoid.
/facepalm
*YAWN*
this app is a junk. same with all other 75000+ fart apps.
no thanks.
.
Quick! Get it before it gets "on second thought" killswitch'd.
It's worthless by itself. What Engadget left out is:
"To use HAVA Player you will need to have a HAVA device installed in your home to stream your home TV signal"
Wait no Wi-fi only restrictions from Apple??? OMG whats the world coming to!!
/s
Damn, someone wanna buy my Slingbox?! Geez, wasted $30 for a Wi-Fi only app.
AT&T announced they would allow VoIP over 3G, so i'd assume Slingplayer and the like would follow suit.
"regardless of their location, wherever WiFi is available."
Does that news article say "woman forced into motherhood finally free"? What did she give away her kids years later down the road? You'd think they'd pick a less controversial article to advertise there product.
You'd think you'd know the difference between "there" and "their". It means free from her kidnapper that forced her to have his kids genius.
Only a year behind schedule and $10 more than they were planning to charge. yay.
Boo Hoo, I have to pay $30 to get my Sling player to talk to my iPhone. But you know what they say technology is an expensive habit.
I have it, it works perfect, but it does not work over 3G. Not sure why, since it works over 3G on Windows Mobile Devices (or any other kind, really). Even though AT&T got their act together recently and allowed Vonage and others use their network the way it's supposed to be used, alas, this doesn't. Some things I pointed out to them after using it for a week: If you use the A/V dongle stuck in a Hotel Room with their sucky Cable and want to watch yours, it will throw the sound, but the video stays on the iPhone. FAIL.
Because AT&T's network is the proverbial camel and everything that hints at extra load is a proverbial straw. Someone should put the network out of its subscribers misery.
From the linked press release...
"regardless of their location, wherever WiFi is available"
Don't bother selling your slingboxes just yet.
I winder if $700 nokia n900 can do this?? NOT!!!
U mean my $49 iPhone can di this on a $30 month unlimited data plan,??
Um, yeah, actually, it can. The Hava client for Maemo has been out for years.
http://myhava.com/havamobileplayer.html?Submit=HAVA+Mobile+Player
The difference with N900 is you'll be able to other things while watching (i.e. IM, email, surf, etc...). And there as been a HAVA client for N8XX for well over a year and it was free (for the software).
oh and on the n900 version you can do it on 3g, unlike the iphone version.
fail more truth, it sustains me
The N900's predecessor has a hava app on the N810, so it can't be all that difficult to create an app for the N900 especially in comparison to how long it took for Monsoon media to come up with an iphone app. I was running a hava player on the N810 a year and half before sling ever produced an app for the iphone.
Finally, I can make use of my HAVA player on my iPhone! Oh wait, I don't have an iPhone... Come on Hava, do something for Android! At least I can still use my old WinMo and wifi.
Why not just use Orb Networks iPhone app? You can watch TV on your iphone, look at all your pictures, videos, music and docs. Even works on a laptop and Wii. Not affiliated with them, just saying it works. Video quality is passible but not great. Works over Wi-Fi, 3G, and Edge.
Now if Hava would just stop lying about their product and telling people its HD.
aww..come on, HAVA heart! :P
I have been using this for some time....it was available for a while...wifi only too
Hey Sling. Time to put that App ON SALE! Just sayin...
Strange. I have had it for a couple weeks at least. I don't know why a press releases is out late.
Jailbreak your iphone.
go into cydia and type 3G unrestricter
Bam skype, slingbox and everything you want works over 3G .. Just dont go over the 5GB limit or they will hash you!!!
