Jailbroken iPhone gets Expose-like view, you retail users just keep on scrollin' (video)
How many apps do you have on your iPhone? Yeah, we figured it was a lot. Being able to re-arrange items now is mighty helpful, but not so helpful as this little hack from Steve Troughton-Smith that adds Exposé-like functionality to the mix. Just press the Home button and up pops a view of all the application pages; tap one and you're taken straight there, as shown in the video after the break. Nice and simple -- and at this point not available even to jailbroken handsets. We're sure that'll change soon, but it's anybody's guess if or when Apple will add something like this to the official OS. Yet another reason to go ahead and roll your own.

WOW! That's cheap for a Jersey woman
This desperately needs a Space Invaders mode.
that's what I thought when I first saw the picture lol
Makes for a fun way to delete your apps
cept when you shoot down the AirSharing (i.e. pr0n locker) .. think of all the hard (no pun intended) work you put into the stash.
one of those things the iphone should have started with.
you know, like cut and paste?
Banned: Priceless
Excactly, would be cool with a modified version of Backgrounder mixed with this Expose view though.
Nice idea. however i am sure Apple will/should integrate somthing a bit more elegant...And Folders would be one way to help a bit. As it is you cant really see what is on the mini version of the home screen when it goes into expose mode, so this would be good if you remember where all your apps are, but otherwise its just a nice looking effect.
I couldn't agree more! Just a folder icon that you can define so that when you press it all your 'games' appear in list. I can't imagine its that hard to do, but it would be such a big help... please Apple
He already made Stacks for the iphone, wich works beter than folders tho.
Looks a bit like my X Panels...
Inspired by this?

Expose would be cool on the iphone, if it had multi-tasking.
Imagine having safari, im, email, and some shitty game all open at once and being able to switch between them a la expose. One can only dream...
Oh you poor Apple users. I've been using multitasking since 2003 =)
OSX (like almost all cellphone in the market) is multitasking.
Let's say, you can runs SSH in the background and to receive a call at the same time.
The detail is that, Apple, by design, decided that only one "main application" must runs at once and it is nice decision.
Why is it a nice decision? Is it therefore a horrible decision on the other platforms?
I guess it will also be a nice decision when they inevitably allow true multi-tasking.
Why don't you purchase yourself a Palm PRE?
Well if you jail break the iphone you can mutlitask.
How long until Apple takes this idea and implements it as their own?
Oh snap!!!
It's Spaces-like, not Expose-like at all...
Not the same, if it were like Expose, it would only display apps in use. Dude.
That would be awesome if it wasn't as slow as treacle.
I love it, I have been waiting for something like this, Apple should totally add it their OS.

Bad boys, bad boys
whatcha gonna do
whatcha gonna do?
When sheriff Steve Jobs comes for you
Tell me whatcha wanna do, whatcha gonna do?
Answer:
iPhone
I want to make you jailbreak
jailbreak 'til you
can't break no more.
And if Steve cries out
I'm gonna push it some more.
push it
push it some more.
A La La La La Long
I like that! .......
It is an interesting idea. It would be something that they could optimize the hell out of if it became something official.
Really, Apple. Are folders that hard or scary to implement or for users to use? I'm sure if Mac users (and the rest of the computing world, as well as BlackBerry users) can handle dealing with icons inside folders, I'm almost positive iPhone users can handle it.
I'm not saying I don't agree, but I don't really understand how to implement it with multitouch.
From the home screen do you have icons (folders) of the AppStore genres, then you press one and go in? Or does every icon look like a folder?
Once in a folder do you swipe to get out, or would the typical "back" button show up at the top?
Make folder have a option to scale their colour using s RGB slider plus you can name the obviously!. And yeah when inside hit the home button to take you back to the main screen. I cannot see why this would be any kind of issue to the "experience" of using the phone.
why not use expose with the apps running in background?? or multitasking??
This one is better:

This would be great for Android. So we can see everything that is running and easily switch to it.
I see what you did there.
You do? Maybe you can tell me because I'm not sure what I did here. I just think it's a neat idea for Android as well.
iphone can't multi-task lols but android can!!!
Wow, your just awesome. Keep on scrollin.
Looks crappy to me prefer it larger
most women do...
ZING!
Man, the thing is useful. It may take a few seconds to load up but even if you can swipe your finger fast enough you still have to work it out to go from page to page.
Love this app, I hope to see it on cydia soon!
I would much rather have a "Folder App". I'd like to arrange my games by genre and my utilities and streaming services. I don't know why this is such a hard idea to sell?
Damn, and I suggested this to apple not a month ago. Nice to see someone actually made it.
OR, OR!...give us ways to organize the apps in folders, Apple. I hope they don't build this into the OS.
........
This is what we need

Is it me or did he press the icon "expose" not the home button?
On a related note, for you Jailbreakers, try Kirikae.
It's a bit like backgrounder, but better. Trigger it with a double-tap on home and it backgrounds the app you're in, and pops up a list of other runnnig apps and a favourites list of non-running apps. Tap the one you want, do what you need in the 2nd app, then double-tap again and select the original app you were working on that was backgrounded. It's bloody great, best JB app I've found so far.
Excellent app,
but the double tap function conflicts with Music Controls as that uses the home button double tap as well.
but...
doesn't Kiriake also have the option to be invoked by holding the home button down as well?
