How many apps do you have on your iPhone? Yeah, we figured it was a lot. Being able to
re-arrange items now is mighty helpful, but not so helpful as this little hack from Steve Troughton-Smith that adds Exposé-like functionality to the mix. Just press the Home button and up pops a view of all the application pages; tap one and you're taken straight there, as shown in the video after the break. Nice and simple -- and at this point not available even to jailbroken handsets. We're sure that'll change soon, but it's anybody's guess if or when Apple will add something like this to the official OS. Yet another reason to go ahead and roll your own.
If only Apple could jump into the future to 1998 and figure out what multitasking is.
Even then, why exactly would someone use this? It's actually significantly worse than the desktop implementation of Exposé, because all you can see are nearly identical blocks of smaller, coloured blocks. Unless you make a unique pattern of icons on every home screen (haha, this one's a smiley faaaace), it'd be harder to choose a page based on this view than based on the regular scroll view where you see them full-size. Kudos to the dev for the effort, but I think it'd be better spent on more usable ideas.
Yeah, who needs 3G anyway! EDGE + wifi is way more than what I need.
Ring a bell?
Who really has that many apps? I have trouble filling up 4 screens of apps let alone the sheer amount in the article.
seems pointless, I do wish we could create folders tho, right now its just like an organized tiled colorful mess
Maybe if the display were higher resolution this effort wouldn't look such a convoluted mess - The iPhone's 320 x 480 display makes these layout far too pixelated.
With the wealth of Windows Mobile/Android phones supporting 480 x 800 (true widescreen), Apple is looking way behind when it comes to available display technology.
IMO - This 'Pocket Expose' looks more like 'different just for the sake of being different', with little practical use as this point.
For everyone asking for folders,
heard of 'Categories'?
sheeesh :(
I didn't even bother checking the video. The photo tells enough.
You think I know what App I want based on 3 pixels? Get the hell out of here. No one can read the screen when its that small.
Once again, a "this is why you don't work at Apple" innovation from the masses...
*sigh
Knowing that it takes time to actually "LOAD" is just ... why bother....put your brains to better use.
@ethos: categories?
Rather use Pogoplank which i can organize all my apps and scroll thru them nicely.

This isn't expose, it's Desktop Peek.
Looks nice
zomg, can't believe he has doodle jump all the way on page 4....
For people with a jb iPhone. If you have backgrounder installed, and you want a quick and easy way to switch between apps that are open (safari and say facebook and some radio music player) then install mquickdo. All you have to do is swip down from the status bar and a "popup" will show all open apps and you can quickly switch between them. Check it out on YouTube for a better understanding.
why the hell is it used for getting to different pages?! useless!
this should definitely be written for switching through APPS, because the iPhone needs MULTI-TASKING.
It is called orbitz, and will be in the cydia store for $2.99 asap

Sorry for the triple posts.. engadgets comment system is wacky.
lol see, now it don't know who I am.
There's a feature in the ShopShop app that may inspire a change from Apple. Holding over the page dots brings up a cover flow view of list panels and you just drag to the one you want and release. Quick and easy, and no need to change any existing OS mappings.
They scrolling, they waiting...
i guess everyone seem to just forget about the finder feature apple was so proud about
