Samsung Pixon 12 phonecamera hybrid gets tested
It's probably best to think of Samsung's Pixon 12 not as a phone with a killer camera, but more so as a good point-and-shoot with phone capabilities tacked on. Our friends at Engadget Chinese managed to get some hands-on with the device, and while they say the voice and SMS portion is nothing to write home about, the form factor and AMOLED screen seems quite nice and the sample pictures come out even nicer. Hit up the read link for some odd, machine-translated text and pretty photography.

Looks nice - just a shame its Samsung designing the soft/firmware too.
hands-on any mobile Other than N900 ?, why engadget ? why a hate on Nokia ?

This does not compare to a cannon point and shoot. For a phone that is supposed to be camera first, this pq , I feel, is unacceptable. Put this camera on a smartphone, and you have awesomeness.
What would be awesome is if you could easily swap SIM's so when you needed a solid camera with phone capabilities, you could just bring this. Then switch it out with a more capable smartphone for other situations.
and what exactly aint capable on this android-laden sammy?
with enaugh memory (32gb+) and good audio quality this would be my perfect phone.
Or just get a SE Satio instead
@go seki: except Satio is pishy Symbian; doesn't have 32GB of memory built-in, just an 8GB memory card; and is just a horrid phone.
ummm, you CAN easily swap SIMs, why wouldn't you?
Yes.. indeed, I want android on this xd
Ugh.. i hope it isn't like the last one. I had the previous pixon for about 2 days before i returned it.
It was so basic you couldn't do anything, not even change the theme, just seemed like a half arsed attempt in the pixel race. The geotagging was awful aswell.
Funny thing is, i returned it because it was too basic, but i had to return it on the grounds of 'Phone too complicated'
Would be nice if this ran WinMo 6.5.
Oh, yeah, I grab drink first taste of soup Samsung Pxion 12. It was delicious!
Really Engadget? I sent you a review on this phone around a week ago and it was allot more in depht than this. Also it was in english not roughly translated from Chinese.
And GSMArena only beat you by a further 3 months... http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_m8910_pixon12-review-371.php
Would you like some phone with that camera?
Would you like some perspective with that wit?
for the love of science stop spamming!

Once again, Engadget is only slightly behind-the-times.
A mere 3-and-a-half months after the likes of GSMArena reviewed this handset, here we are.
Still, not as bad as the Samsung Tocco Ultra/S8300 - that was something like a 6 month delay!
Come to Verizon, I want you
UN PORTABLE DANS UN APPAREIL-PHOTO
Does make it harder to make discreet shots of cops shooting black guys on the ground in the back though, such a real camera look and large lens assembly, but I guess you could use your ipod touch instead.. oh wait, nm.
