Microsoft Corp. and Activision Publishing, Inc. today brandished the latest weapon to help gamers take to the battlefields for the global launch of the year with the announcement of the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console. Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2, the blockbuster sequel to the best selling first-person action game in history, Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare®, was the inspiration for the console's high-speed, low-drag, battle-ready design, which is available for pre-order today at retailers, and in other regions later this week.

Beginning with the game's worldwide release on November 10, fans can arm themselves with the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console, featuring an exclusive design inspired by the epic thriller, more storage space than ever before in a 250GB Hard Drive, two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, as well as an Xbox 360 Headset and a Standard Edition copy of Modern Warfare 2 for an estimated retail price of $399 (USD).

The Limited Edition Console was revealed at an exclusive preview event in Los Angeles where guests were the first to experience the game's multiplayer gameplay on Xbox LIVE. "It is thrilling to bring the exclusive Modern Warfare 2-inspired Xbox 360 console to Call of Duty fans. Being able to work so closely with the talented team at Infinity Ward on the design has enabled us to develop a console that will set bragging rights around the world," said Albert Penello, senior director of global marketing for Xbox 360. "These fans deserve the biggest Xbox 360 console ever, and we're delivering with more storage space than ever before and freedom to enjoy all their favorite games and downloadable Game Add-ons, including the first two Modern Warfare 2 maps that will be available first on Xbox LIVE." The add-ons will be sold separately.
The Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console will be sold in Europe, the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia), UK, US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. On November 10, Activision Publishing, Inc. will release Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The title continues the gripping and heart-racing action as players face off against a new threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse. Modern Warfare 2 is rated "M" (Mature – Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language) by the ESRB.

It's kinda stupid that it doesn't come with a component or hdmi cable, but still $399 for MW2, 2 Controllers, a 250gb hard drive, and the actual console is a pretty good deal, imho.
no consoles come with HD cables included, 360 used to include hd component cables and hdmi cables in the elites before the price drop so as far as cable screwing goes ms has actually been more good than nintendo or sony.

This is not news. i saw this same product up when I PRE-ORDERED it over a month ago. Engadget fails.
As did I. WTF Engadget. Between this, that fugly Red/Carbon Xbox controller, and a couple of other articles... you've been a little slow.
I think the point of this article was the confirmed _release date_, not the existence of the bundle. Since Darren linked to the engadget post from September 15th (that whole 'month ago' you mentioned...) it looks like he's aware that a MW2 bundle is not anything new. Until now I have not seen anything on engadget with a release date. If I missed that then please link it up. Link to the original engadget post below...

Just wait and see how many MW fans will line up to buy this thing. I do admit though, the paint job is nice and getting the game with the controllers sounds great. It is wrong for them to not include an HD cable of any kind, but HDMI cables can be found dirt cheap online, so that shouldn't stop anyone if they really want this bundle.
MS, my hard drive is getting full and I'd love to have a 250GB drive to replace my 120GB. Release it separately and cut those frigging prices already.

True story: The day this news broke I ran downstairs to the local Gamestop and reserved this bad boy. The gs employee didn't even know what it was till he pulled it up on the monitor. He then called like 2 other co-workers as they gasped at the monitor. "250 HDD!!?" one of them yelled.. "That's a Great Deal!! -I gotta reserve one!!" Lol.

I love how Costco had to minimize their electronics return policy from 1 year to 90 days because everyone was whoring out their conscience with "upgrades" every year, myself included. >:p

Costco's 90 day return police does not apply to the X-box. This summer I returned one that was over two years old because it started to lock up. They took it back with no problem. Here's the kicker, the new bundle I purchased from Costco was $60 cheaper than the one I returned.
I don't call it a coisidence or fate that it's coming out a week after the new PS3. In fact, it has nothing to do with when the PS3 comes out. It's being released on the 10 because *GASP* that's when the game comes out! Seriously, does Engadget let the dumb crew post all these late night articles? Seems the later the day gets, the dumber the posts are.

Yes, they did, but "technically" they hadn't announced a release date. Now most of us know that when a game/system bundle like this is announced, it's coming out the same day as the game, but apparently the Engadget employees have yet to realize this. Even with this date, they think it's to compete with the PS3 and not because it's the same day the game comes out. =)

I believe Engadget already covered this weeks ago, including the fact that no 360 comes with anything other than a composite cable now.
And I remember we talked the topic to death already. I still don't understand the backwards logic in supplying composites when the purpose of the device was clearly meant for component and most who buy 360 or PS3 already have or will purchase HDTVs. Will including component cables really break their banks?
It was OK, and even called a good thing, when the PS3 did not include a HDMI cable, so why is it so bad that the 360 does not include it?
It's not trouble, that in the additional ones it XBox 360 arrive with composite cable only. But this is a super elite console, that 399$! Really could put component cable.
When I bought my PS3 60GB I paid $599 for it, and did not get HDMI nor component cables. But a $399 product should have component cables in it?
I am not really complaining, being that I had a HDMI cable for both my PS3 and 360, but saying it is bad for one because it is $399 and OK for another when it is $599 sounds a bit odd to me.

Well the 360 version would never have dedicated servers anyways. Microsoft doesn't allow it. However no dedicated servers for the PC version is inexcusable, on top of the $60 price tag and paid DLC, Activision-Blizzard has clearly shown that they don't want any of my hard-earned cash. I was going to pre-order on steam, but I won't be buying this game at all.
Agreed. IW can get bent. Their choice will not go unheard in the PC community. Unfortunately we're just a small (getting smaller) number compared to the console players. FTW/ FIW
