What's inside the box.

The Limited Edition Console was revealed at an exclusive preview event in Los Angeles where guests were the first to experience the game's multiplayer gameplay on Xbox LIVE. "It is thrilling to bring the exclusive Modern Warfare 2-inspired Xbox 360 console to Call of Duty fans. Being able to work so closely with the talented team at Infinity Ward on the design has enabled us to develop a console that will set bragging rights around the world," said Albert Penello, senior director of global marketing for Xbox 360. "These fans deserve the biggest Xbox 360 console ever, and we're delivering with more storage space than ever before and freedom to enjoy all their favorite games and downloadable Game Add-ons, including the first two Modern Warfare 2 maps that will be available first on Xbox LIVE." The Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console will be sold in Europe, the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia), UK, US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. On November 10, Activision Publishing, Inc. will release Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The title continues the gripping and heart-racing action as players face off against a new threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse. Modern Warfare 2 is rated "M" (Mature – Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language) by the ESRB.

Agreed. IW can get bent. Their choice will not go unheard in the PC community. Unfortunately we're just a small (getting smaller) number compared to the console players. FTW/ FIW
1. Xbox Live does have games with dedicated servers.
2. The prior Xbox versions of IW games have all been peer-to-peer.
3. There's nothing wrong with games being peer-to-peer. In some cases, it makes the game better. It just depends on what you're trying to do.
4. The #1 reason why MW2 PC is peer-to-peer. Prestige mode. You PC players want Prestige mode. Then it's going to be peer-to-peer. Dedicated servers would be a hackers field day. Ether you house that character data on IW's servers, or you open yourself up to server and save game hacking. Enough said.
Prestige mode has nothing to do why IW has decided not to support dedicated servers. Most PC users could care less for prestige mode to begin with. Their shutting them down because just like every other game developer out there, their catering to the consoles. There's way more money in it. Why let users have the ability to create their own maps, and mod their own games when they could charge the user for it? PC users just need to accept the fact that consoles are taking over the gaming industry, and all games from here on out are going to be created first for the console, and then possibly translated over for use on the PC. By the way there's a program called punk buster that eliminates hackers.
So, if the 360 version never had or will have dedicated servers, why would you say you're canceling your pre-order because of them stopping dedicated servers in a topic related to the 360 version? I'm just confused. >_
hello everyone i seen alot of people pissed at iw, why is that, iam serious, iam trying to find out whats wrong, i pre-ordered my bundle and iam wondering whats so bad about it, i have a 60gb pro system already and it came with the hdtv cable so i don't have to buy a new cable, i need to know if something is wrong, because i might have to cancel it, someone plz write me plz!
Prediction
this will be sickk n make 1 billion dollars on 1 week.
Cod 6 will shatter previous video game records.
It all has to do with the desirability of a game or product.
$400? Are these people insane? The PS3 is $300
seriously engadget you guys failed at this article darren guy come on this has been known for a while, microsoft announced this a while back and the LE xbox has been on amazon for a while even on gamestop way before this whole 250gig ps3 fiasco. and the release date for MW2 has been out for a bit now too. its only obvious this would release along side the game too. guys please get your stuff together thanks.
Oh and @mattergenocide $400 is not that bad considering what it comes with
LE MW2 xbox comes with
designed console
250 gig HDD
2 black wireless controls
a copy of MW2
plus everything else an xbox comes with I.E. power cables etc.
all for $399
Slim PS3 comes with
standard slim ps3
250gig hdd
1 DS3 control
no game
and again everything else it comes with
all for $349
for just $50 more you get an extra control $50 , copy of MW2 $60
and a LE Console so i dont think $400 is that insane oh and you had
an error on your price the ps3 is 349 for the 250gig
300 is for the 120
You mean the 120GB PS3 that doesn't include a second controller or a brand new game?
I'm not defending the "collector's edition" kinda bundling, but it's not a bad value.
Chuck, while it does seem like a nice deal ( I agree)
there will be some people who will choose the PS3 just for it's Bluray playing ability, and maybe the ability to upgrade their HDD to 500gb+ for movies and music etc.
Console, Game, Headset, 250GB HDD and 2 Controllers.
'Nuff said.
Why they write that the XBox360 Super Elite arrives with composite cable? Oh come on! I want a component or hdmi cable. Poor Microsoft!
Am I the only one who thinks its kind of an odd name skip?
Previous game was "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"
Now it's suddenly "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" (and barely even Call of Duty, people just refer to it as "Modern Warfare 2")... shouldn't it rather be "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2"?
Am I also the only owner of an Xbox 360 who thinks that the first one is kind of a dull game, not to mention ANY CoD games...?
Technically Infinity Ward named the game "Modern Warfare 2", but Corporations are adding the Call of Duty tag to it to get the franchise name recognition.
Because COD4 MW2 would just be an add on. Technically it would be COD6 MW2. But yeah, like Jesse said, it's based solely on name recognition. But I think they should of left the COD title out of both Modern Warfare's. There's no Call of Duty in our Modern Warfare.
Yea, this is not 'new' news. GameStop has been taking pre-orders on it for about the past 3-4 weeks.

Meanwhile, for those people who are getting it for the PC, IW has announced that there's not going to be any dedicated servers for the PC version, instead using a matchmaking service similar to the console version. This means no mods, no custom servers, no server lists, and paid DLC on the PC, something which made the previous games so popular. It also signals the end of competitive play for this game on the PC and is a worrying trend for PC gaming in general.
For those of you that are concerned about this news and how it will affect the gaming community, you can sign the petition that's been set up here-->http://www.petitiononline.com/dedis4mw/petition.html
This isn't an ad BTW, I just feel it deserves some exposure, as IW, who supposedly consider themselves a PC developer first and foremost, are turning their back on their previously loyal customers.
no mods and hacks on the pc version with superior controls? Sign me up! Screw private servers. The Xbox version is almost always lag free.
This Manoj guy got the editors pretty good here. I'm surprised no one at Engadget realized this, but MS announced the release date of the console bundle when they announced the bundle. Surprise, surprise - it comes out when the game launches!
Xbox 360 had the 250GB console BEFORE Sony actually.
For the US.
There are 250GB PS3 Slims already for sale in other countries, whereas the 360 250GB doesn't come out until next month. The PS3 250GB also doesn't come out in the US until next month.
This information was released a while ago...
Good to know that the editors are on top of that. The console was released at a press only event where Major Nelson released the console and let people play the multiplayer. It also ended up on Inside Xbox a few days later.
They're on sale at all retail locations: Target, Best Buy (check the website), GameStop (on their website), etc. November 10th is the same release day as Modern Warfare 2.
Cod is going to be sick!
Since plenty of poor people don't have HD tvs but do buy consoles, they don't include the HDMI. Us rich folks can go buy a super expensive cable off ebay. It's expensive, like 10 bucks!
First, the deal isn't bad at all. A new elite cost $300 with no game, no extra controller, and 130GB less (not really, but u get it). What really sucks though, the console doesnt bring HDMI cabes, not even component. Also, If it's a LIMITED EDITION XBOX why the hell don't you atleast throw in the LIMITED EDITION MW2 game.
hello everyone i seen alot of people pissed at iw, why is that, iam serious, iam trying to find out whats wrong, i pre-ordered my bundle and iam wondering whats so bad about it, i have a 60gb pro system already and it came with the hdtv cable so i don't have to buy a new cable, i need to know if something is wrong, because i might have to cancel it, someone plz write me plz!
