Well the 360 version would never have dedicated servers anyways. Microsoft doesn't allow it. However no dedicated servers for the PC version is inexcusable, on top of the $60 price tag and paid DLC, Activision-Blizzard has clearly shown that they don't want any of my hard-earned cash. I was going to pre-order on steam, but I won't be buying this game at all.
Agreed. IW can get bent. Their choice will not go unheard in the PC community. Unfortunately we're just a small (getting smaller) number compared to the console players. FTW/ FIW
1. Xbox Live does have games with dedicated servers. 2. The prior Xbox versions of IW games have all been peer-to-peer. 3. There's nothing wrong with games being peer-to-peer. In some cases, it makes the game better. It just depends on what you're trying to do. 4. The #1 reason why MW2 PC is peer-to-peer. Prestige mode. You PC players want Prestige mode. Then it's going to be peer-to-peer. Dedicated servers would be a hackers field day. Ether you house that character data on IW's servers, or you open yourself up to server and save game hacking. Enough said.
Prestige mode has nothing to do why IW has decided not to support dedicated servers. Most PC users could care less for prestige mode to begin with. Their shutting them down because just like every other game developer out there, their catering to the consoles. There's way more money in it. Why let users have the ability to create their own maps, and mod their own games when they could charge the user for it? PC users just need to accept the fact that consoles are taking over the gaming industry, and all games from here on out are going to be created first for the console, and then possibly translated over for use on the PC. By the way there's a program called punk buster that eliminates hackers.
So, if the 360 version never had or will have dedicated servers, why would you say you're canceling your pre-order because of them stopping dedicated servers in a topic related to the 360 version? I'm just confused. >_

HP's Jon Rubenstein told us that his company wanted to veer in a new direction, and veer it surely did -- the HP Veer 4G will arguably be the smallest fully-functional smartphone on the market when it goes on sale May 15th.
