We're not sure why John Gruber and Dan Lyons are having some sort of megalomaniacal Apple super-pundit standoff, but we'll sit here and take the spoils: Gruber's just one-upped Lyons's
earlier vague tease of new Apple gear tomorrow with a pretty specific list of things he's apparently heard we'll see, including new iMacs and plastic MacBooks, revved Mac Minis (including one that runs OS X Server), a new multitouch "Magic Mouse" (
ha!) and some sort of multitouch desktop trackpad accessory. That pretty much covers
every rumor and
vague whisper we've heard over the past few months, so it's actually a fairly conservative set of predictions, outside of that trackpad -- which itself may or may not be related to this
multitouch input device patent from a couple weeks ago. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning -- at this point we're half expecting a tablet, a pony, and some sort of multitouch waffle maker as well.
Apple TV = fail, they're just trying to let it die a quiet, dignified death.
Your comment = fail!
Apple TV is great, it's just undermarketed and misunderstood. Well, that and they need to work out the licensing a little better.
Seriously, I like it, and it's let me cancel my cable and never have to go to the video store or wait for the mail when I want to rent something.
Ummm, tablets have been around for years. The More You Know and all that.
Can't we just all get along, both OS has flaws none are perfect I'm a mac user and I don't mind using windows just as long as it helps me to get things done.
multitouch is great, but I haven't found it that useful for my Macbook.
Hope this "Magic Mouse" is better then my "mighty mouse". The ball doesn't work and it sucks battery like a robot hooker.
From all the rumors I've read, I think the physical changes won't be very dramatic, maybe a slight face lift and a little thinning up. The number one thing I look forward to is the new "magic mouse". Losing that damn scroll ball and adding two finger scrolling will be a huge plus for me. It would be great it if they bundle it with the new iMac instead of giving us the old mighty mouse.
that would be sweet, multi-touch mouse!
My daughter needs a MacBook to use at work for webdesign. I'm hoping for the $799 MacBook.
LOWER YOUR GODDAMN PRICES FOR ONCE
What Apple is doing is easing the users into using touch and gestures. They started it with the "iPhone" and the multi touch track pad on "Macbooks". These new accessories are getting desktop users used to gestures too. Very smart compared to just jumping into gesture based computing.
That's just my take.
Thx for reading my comment
Ok Apple, tomorrow is your chance to redeem your selfs.
Please announce Tablet and iPod Touch with camera
@Kamil: You are perfectly welcome to do so. Equally, I'd like to be 'allowed' to use a Mac without being flamed by thousands of Windows fanboys - it really does go both ways.
If Apple makes a Mighty Mouse 2 that works then I'm interested, not least because I'm in need of a new mouse right now. The original Mighty Mouse was certainly flawed but I also found a lot to like about it so if they've sorted out the issues (mainly, ensuring that the right-click function works reliably) then I'd buy one.
I really like the ergonomic design of the Mighty Mouse with its standard 4 buttons plus 360 scroll ball. But that ball is the weak point, it gets dirty and I have to open the MM to clean it. I'd like Apple to:
1) Replace the ball with a mini trackpad, kinda like Fujitsu had a few years ago, or better yet a mini touch screen!
2) Make the mini trackpad/mini touch screen clickable.
3) Stick an SD card reader slot in the back of the mouse like Sony had a while back.

OS X already makes the rest of the MM highly configurable so with these changes MM would be the perfect mouse.
Why you all think Detox is Paul A Chapel, is it just cause he's the poster boy or cause you know he is
Paul vanished a while ago and often just seemed to ne to be someone who really needed love, or something like that
this Detox character is more a polariser
I'm not a great fan of apple, they are overpriced and in the V1 models just look nice but don't work well, but I have to say I am waiting to see what they do in the tablet/ebook field. The other companies in the market have so far produced some right old rubbish.
With the right apple ebook reader, I might even have to turn to the dark side myself! (Assuming its not locked down to a single format of course)
Apple or PC ? hmmmmm ,still don’t care flame each other as much as you will it’s entertaining to us use both.
Is there a scheduled event/announcement for these rumors? Or are we all just watching the Apple Homepage to go down?
That "some sort of multitouch desktop trackpad accessory" makes me think of 10/GUI's concept:

Apple is releasing new equipment tomorrow just so WindowsFTW and Look_Around_You can show everyone their high degree of MS Fanboyism
Ok, the post talks about new mac products "possibly" coming out today and every mac and windows hater comes out and the comments war starts again!
To the fans of Apple: The day I can own a computer that can run Steam, Fallout 3, and other cool games and not charge me $1300 for 8gb of ram, then you can have the stage for your rants against PC's. Macs don't get as many viruses because until recently mac's did not even have 12% of the PC market.
To the fans of MS: The day there is a Windows OS as good as OS X (Windows 7 is very close but not there yet!) that is not immune but can resist more attacks so that I CAN connect to the internet without any anti-virus or any firewall and not get a virus in 30 seconds, and that it just does not crash as often as it does then you can have the stage for your rants against mac's. The day Microsoft sells their own computers, specially designed for Windows, then the OS might function like it should (this is also why OS X is so stable).
And before anyone bashes me for being either a Mac or a Windows fanboy, I have a Mac Book Pro running both Snow Leopard and Win7, and then have 4 Windows PC's as well.
If people want to drop $2000 on a mac, decide they want to save money and get a PC, decide that they need something more suitable for graphics, or more suitable for gaming, then that's their decision, but when you have a person either saying that MS or Apple make better stuff and everyone who does not agree are wrong, then that person is an idiot.
PC's are great for customizing and gaming, and Mac's are great for creative work and are very user friendly. Both are great in my book, it just depends on what you want to do with them.
Its tomorrow now, and we are waiting :).
i never noticed how much the commenters on this sight hate apple, yet the editors of this website clearly wants to suck steve job's dick
Trolls are everywhere. Like them or not... I hate them.
