Sweet!
What model car is that in the first READ link?
It's a 1960 Lincoln Continental, also used in the Matrix.
I believe a lincoln
Congrats Eugenia!
You've been gunning for 5DMkII 24/25p firmware all alone!
Nikon produce the first dslr that shoot vide, but canon now is head of the market in term of video capacity dslr offer 1080p and stereo sound in their high model. i wish next year $500-$800 model will had 1080p that is stereo sound, i pretty sure canon can do that not so sure about nikon. And for god sake make the body IS aleady.
Image Stabilization is best when it's done optically.
anyone can make video look good if they have the editing skills..this guy could probably edit a p&s clip and make it look this good with the right tools...its not always the camera
You're missing the point. It's about the 1D's ability to shoot "film quality" HD video and it's exceptionally low light capability. You can only edit video that you can see - most HD video cameras would produce crushed and noisy video at those lumens.
I agree. The low-light condition was amazing. I thought at first he'd chosen spots with convenient lighting, but if you read his post, he chose the worst spots and was himself impressed.
Try going outside at night and recording video with your P&S. From my attempts, unless you're in a lighted spot, at least half of your screen is just black.
Yeah sure, it's not like he got paid to make an ad movie... he works for free and got a prototype because they give those to everybody, and their cousins, and that prototype incidentally is of course exactly the same as the production model, also the movie isn't edited and didn't run through any software..
Did you know the word gullible isn't in the dictionary? Look it up.
The girl in that video is gorgeous.
from the movie credits....
Jessica Goodwin
It's nice to know you don't need a $3000-$5000 camera to shoot great video. Oh wait...
It is very impressive, though. Not sure about the movie, though. Why did he jump the sign while running down the middle of the road? Not buyin' it, sirs.
The video was French and they're all about the Parkour, so they had to throw it in somehow.
parkour aka free running. it's in games like prince of persia and mirrors edge as well as movies like dist13 ultimatum and tournament i think you can look it up in the imdb database.
It is ABSOLUTELY amazing! The quality is similar to $90K Sony's digital video cameras..
I had been waiting for such thing for so long time! Hope next year will buy it and going to do stunning indy movies/ or just use it for some family shooting in very good quality. Bravo Canon! (or I have missed something and there are alternatives for that?)
By the way does anybody know how much Mb/Gb it would take to record a minute of 1080p or 720p movie 24/25fps?
im not 100% sure, going out on a limb here with some guesstimations. In terms of raw, uncompressed data, im going to guess using this formula: (seconds * bit color depth * resolution * frame rate) / 8
so for 1080p25 it would equal out to 11.57GB/min, im going to call myself wrong on this as the camera uses a proprietary raw codec that would amount to something in the range of 2-4GB a minute probably
Yeah... the $10k Sony EX-3 shoots better footage than this. Don't kid yourself - professional camcorders are always going to trump DSLR hybrids.
And don't even joke about a $90k Sony CineAlta. Have you seen Sin City or Star Wars or Public Enemies.
No contest.
YEWWWWWW
u need some high fps to catch every still of a board as it inward heels
Just what the h*ll has happened to the 7D? It was supposed to be released 'Late September' and it's still not released? Anyone have any info? That bad boy will do 60fps...
Can get it from numerous places over here in the UK, so seems to have very much been released.
Umm 7D has been out a little while now, I just got mine today! :)
Amazon lists it for sale, just doesn't seem to be available with the kit lens yet. Or maybe it's the other way around.
This is amazing video that these new DSLRs are able to capture. Can someone explain me why would I want to buy a 5k to 10k Video Camera like a Canon XL-H1A, when it seems that these cameras can capture the same kind of quality?
You're going to spend the same amount of money making these cameras as usable as an XL-H1.
Agreed. People shouldn't get caught up in the hype. If you want to shoot a short film - buy a prosumer camera.
Also, prosumer camcorders (like the HVX200 or the EX-1/3) use fast flash drives. The EX series records at 35Mb/s. The quality would be insanely better than the compressed files you're gonna get here.
I'm glad there was a sprinkling of parkour in the video. Without that, it just wouldn't have spoken to me as a 20-something, big city creative type.
MARK V! MARK V!
self fail... :\ didn't read last update on the subject...
So, to summarise, guy bails head first onto the pavement, imagines some rich guy is driving after him to rape him or something while he's out, then comes to and skates off?
Wizard.
3 month in advance firmware update notice? just release it already, that's rediculous!
a bit young don't you think :D
For some strange reason Canon asked for the take down of the footage.
Also of interest was the 1D Mark 4 footage anymore impressive than the 5D Mark 2 footage was?
You can still see the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhyQYM7_VYs
