Sweet! I'm going to be there, for sure. Loving The Engadget Show so far.
Well if Ballmer comes on the show hollering and shouting, like some hippie on a bad (real bad) trip.. I'm switching it off.. Sorry engadget.
Are you kidding?
He better be a hollerin'. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't.
Ballmer will kick SJ's ass anytime. SJ won't even have a chance with that Gorilla-esque physique.
@ Brown Robott
The only way he could beat SJ is physically...
looks like he gained weight
He can use the weight to drop kick Apple fan boys or sit on a iPhone.
I doubt he could lift his leg that high .. I would be very worried if he body slammed me though.
Gorilla-like physique + creppy grin = win!
Can't wait to see Ballmerd.
Finally live streaming!
Set your VCRs ready! This will be full of Win!
(Nice pun btw)
Nice lets make up a list of questions to ask him, and use the best ones?
What will be the focus of windows mobile 7, and how are they striving to make it finger friendly and different from the current windows mobile 6.5. What new things do they plan to bring to the table with it? As most of us are pushing for a complete re-design.
Also, why can't the zune HD just have a phone,? Iphone and itouch share the same OS, why can't the same be done with MS for the phones/players?
I think they should ask what he thinks of Apple's commercials in light of the week that they (Apple) had.
Ask whether the rumors that the huge Danger disaster was an insider sabotage job are true. Also why did Microsoft buy Danger and does he think it was a smart decision.
@NohOne .. don't think that would be a smart idea. Apple may have issues with losing data in extremely rare cases (SL has been out for ages and we are only just hearing about cases). Microsoft just permanently lost data for almost every single Sidekick owner.
ask what they envision, as far as integrating zune, xbox, windows, and windows mobile.
ASK ABOUT ZUNE PASS ON WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICES!!!!
ASK ABOUT GAMING ON WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICES
Ask if we've heard the end of the Zune story. The Zune HD launch was so high profile, but the buzz quickly died down when people realized that the browser can't hold a candle to Apple's handheld browser, that there's no 3rd party developer support, that there's no berth of an Xbox Mobile gaming platform.... I could go on, and on.
Ask what we can expect with Windows 7, and whether current 6.5 devices (HD 2 namely) will be upgradeable.
Josh a couple of questions for Steve B:
1. As Microsoft is encircled by innovative competitors on all sides, how do you stop the paranoia from setting in?
2. Is it possible to defend the desktop centric Windows/Office cash cows, when the future is mobile devices and cloud services?
2. Do you miss the good old embrace-extend-extinguish days when M$ could dictate standards and lock-out competition?
4. If the future really means open standards like html 5, does MS have the right culture and talent to compete on a more level playing field?
5. What really happened at pink/danger/sidekick?
6. Did Bill Gates see the writing on the wall and leave before the terminal decline of M$?
I've a few...
1) Are you really worried by a competing OS that still only sells on less than 4% of computers sold each quarter - half of which also then filled your coffers because their owners bought a copy of Windows?
2) Similarly, does the fact that the 'world's free operating system' is so incredibly popular that people would rather pirate Windows than use it?
3) Do you giggle like a little schoolgirl when people tell you how much money your competitor makes because you know the only people really getting it in the ass are those same people who are paying a near 40% mark up for that competitor's products whilst their market share remains a blip on the horizon and, hell, you still sell Windows and Office to them on top of all that?
4) WinMo. Seriously. What were you thinking?
5) And Bing. I mean why not just make Yahoo your bitch?
I think that covers it.
@crawdad689
Gaming on Windows Mobile device & Xbox Live is in the works right now : http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/10/20/windows-mobile-to-become-a-gaming-platform/
one more question:
when you are reaming Mark Anderson's cornhole, do you donkey punch him?
a bit awkward no?
I mean you do photoshop the hell out of this guy
Was anyone able to get the first episode to work from the zune marketplace link? For me it downloads the whole way and then says download failed because it doesn't support the codec.
I was having the same problem (on multiple computers), then seeing this article I checked on it and it worked fine. They must have fixed it, and you should try downloading it again.
@NohOne: Thanks, I'll check on that again when I get home from work today. (Love it when people are actually helpful rather than trolling you)
Dude get an iPhone that would solve your problem
@K: Actually, it wouldn't since my "problem" was that I wanted to watch it in HD off my TV, which the iPhone is utterly incapable of. Oops.
I have an iPhone, and an iTouch, and a 5G Nano, and an Mac Mini. How will any of those fix the problem with Engadget's bad data on the Zune Marketplace?
lowranked simply for mentioning a zune?
@monty: It's because K has several accounts which he uses to low rank anyone who likes microsoft/zune and high rank himself. I've run into him before with similar results. You can literally watch how he replies, his reply starts getting high ranked and then systematically, one by one, all others get low ranked.
However since everyone else hates K and low ranks him and high ranks anyone he's grayed then it all balances out.
Hoorah!
it doesn't work like that. You can just clear the cache in your browser and rinse and repeat. It doesn't matter if you have and account. That aside it pisses me off.
any study about his appearance and M$FT stock dropping?
I'm loving the $ thing instead of typing an actual S.
Is that you're own original idea? Very stylish and trendy. Keep up the great work there.
Seriously, I know. This is the kind of creativity and originality that really defines America. Sir, I bow to you.
*crying bald eagle*
Can somebody please ask him if there are future plans for Mac-supported Zune software? and if not, why?
They've already answered that several times. They're considering it, but it's not really high on their list of priorities for the Zune. If you want to know why, it might have something to do with the insanely small percentage of households that ONLY have macs(around 2% of computer owning households), the general preferences of such households when it comes to technology, and the fact that you can easily use the zune software on a Mac through either emulation or boot camp.
Doesn't Zune.net stream on Macs already?
Hmm, I wasn't aware that they've actually addressed it before. I just don't understand what's been holding them back; the software itself wouldn't be all that difficult to write, and it would only attract more people to the Zune. RIM obviously saw the benefits of (finally) releasing a Mac version of their Blackberry Desktop software, and considering Microsoft already has with their Office for Mac I'm shocked there hasn't been more of an effort to extend support for a product they've obviously invested in for the long haul.
It seems like a great idea. Every Mac owner I know tries really hard to find the best products to meet their technology needs. They are independent and don't follow the crowd. They aren't loyal the Apple brand. If Microsoft has a better product they would jump on it in a heartbeat.
that hurt my head ... stop it.
I'm there. I want my free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate!
I got Windows 7 Professional for FREE! Thanks to the Tech College I go to. I have it installed on my laptop right now, before it's even supposed to be released! I am also eligable to get Vista Business both 32 & 64 bit, Windows XP Professional, Office 2007, and several other Microsoft software all for free! I knew going back to school was a good idea, I just never thought I would be able to get all of this MS Software for free!
engadget it's humorous how you show an about face with balmer when you bash him frequently on your site.
I give him props for showing up to your little show.
Do yourself a favor and stick to reporting and not mudslinging.
See also: Nokia.
He probably doesn't read Engadget.
10/22... The Ballad of... Steve Balmer?! ;)
I swear my new boss at work looks just like Steve Ballmer....
