Google Audio music service launching soon? (update: seems it!)
So TechCrunch has it from multiple sources that a US (at least) music service launch from Google is imminent. Possibly named Google Audio, it's unclear whether the service will stream music from the major labels and/or offer it as downloadable tracks. Scuttlebutt says that the service will differ from Google's free, search and download music offering available in China since 2008. Now go ahead, kick back and imagine a Google music service tightly integrated with Android while we dig for more details.

Update: Looks like Google's planning to dive on in with iLike and LaLa, and the whole shindig may end up being called One Box.

They need a music manager for Android, so perhaps this'll be that.
Truth, just give it a rest. You can't even look at other possibilities without schlepping for Apple, can you? What's next, complaining in the morning about your Wheaties because they're not Apple Jacks?
Maybe they'll have digital music recognition to fix the mixed-matched meta data on some of my music. That would be slick!
You're kind of late on the Google voicemail fiasco, that's been resolved.
It seems a lot of people are getting bothered by the fact that Google is stepping on some toes around the place. The right toes I might add.
Apple sells because of name. Plain and simple. No matter what you want it to be. They have superb marketing.
But now they have a competitor with just as big a name (You no longer search, you 'Google') and they have the ability, if used right, to take that all important (=\) mindshare.
I'm going to love the oncoming months...ah!
Please make a correction: A "One Box" is any search-sensitive feature at the top of search results, not a specific product. Many google mini and appliance owners develop their one "One Box" apps, and a number of enterprise vendors offer "One Box" solutions to provide contextual results from specific knowledge management tools. Having a "One Box" for music just means they will show the content at the top of some search results.
wow... go google.. soon android will come into its own.
Meh. I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand the searching abilities in this store are going to rock hard core. finding a song you remember from 10 years ago is prob going to be a lot easier then on Amazon, etc.
On the other I would rather Google invest its resources, vast as they are, in Google Voice, Google Wave, and their bookstore. Get your **** together wth what you have before jumping into an already overcrowded industry.
PS- We now know one of the root reasons for the Apple Google breakup. Anything that would threaten the iTMS will not be looked upon favorably by Lord Jobs.
Andorid is gonna take over the whole world.
Heres some more info (from our morning paper).

So Google knows everything you write (email, docs), everything you watch (Youtube), Every call you make (Andorid, Voice), soon everything you listen to (Audio). Do you really want Google to know this much about you? Have you read their terms of service, and what they can do with your data?
If this keeps up, Google will ship Google Life, and they will own your Soul!
I for one welcome our app-providing, photo-storing, mapping, audio-streaming, video-uploading, bibliophilic, gmailing, searching, mobile, web-browsing, system-operating, 3D-modelling, health-records organizing, waving overlords.
And this proves even more that Google is the new Microsoft.
One thing i like about my iPhone is that i have itunes. Everything seems so simple. I never loaded my MP3s onto my old T-Mobile Wing which had Windows Media.
But if there's something equivalent or better, im on it.
