Magic Mouse post-teardown loses some of its dark arts charm
Were you expecting unicorn tears or something? iFixit keeps working to finish its list of teardown to-dos, this time with Apple's new Magic Mouse. It probably comes as no surprise, but just under the top surfaces lies a considerable number of capacitive sensors, and other than that, there really isn't a lot to gaze upon. Then again, if you tend to fancy the ins and outs if gears and gizmos, this should be right up your alley.

what is does this "uberOptions" jawn you speak of do exactly that the logtech setpoint software doesn't do?
It's a free app that allows you to custom map most if not all the buttons on pretty much any Logitech mouse. It really shines on those with multiple buttons (like the MX Rev) because you can assign shortcuts/macros to any button PER program (and there are at least 9 keys you can custom assign). Basically, it improves productivity.
They use black plastic for their mice? Clearly ripping off Logitech.
it's charcoal, hehehe
Wait wait wait...THAT'S magic? Chris Angel, you've got a lot of 'splainin to do.
If you polish a unicorn's horn long enough, it gives you magical unicorn mayonnaise
besides the multitouch, any comparison with real mice like razer or logitech? dpi, speed, etc...?
i seems a great idea, but i wont sacrifice all my opera gestures... now i think about it, how do you do gestures in a mac?
Wow. The parade of MS 'tards and Apple haters is here again, running their mouths off like they know something.
It's funny how when Engadget ran the story of that Microsoft prototype multi-touch mouse all these MS 'tards had nothing but praises to say. Ironically, it was Microsoft who was at work trying to copy Apple's Magic Mouse.
I can see one distinct advantage to this over other mouses:
The solid top surface means that fanboy spunk won't get into the electronics when they're done wanking over a mouse.
Why does no one talks about the fact that the new mouse looses two "buttons"? Mighty as 4 buttons... i can have 4 distinct actions. In (wwoow) Magic (wooooooowwwww) Mouse... by seeing the pref panel, i just have... TCHA RAMMMMMM: two.
New Apple Invisible Mouse: no buttons, no mouse, one action. This is the future.
I bet the next company to come out with this same mouse (probably in a couple of years), you'll review it like its the best piece of technology you've ever seen. I've not picked up on your hatred (more like jealousy) for Apple products. Got it now though.
looks kinda lame ...
iFixit seems to want to render this mouse in a more humble light. Perhaps we should start calling it the Modest Mouse.
It looks very gerat tool...
