New Win 7 ads highlight the bright ideas of 'regular people' (video)
You know that Windows 7 is a big deal, we know that it's a big deal, and now the commercial actors of America are letting their voices be heard. This new series of ads from Microsoft drives home the point that the improvement this OS represents over Vista is the product of the comments, concerns, and complaints of users all over the world -- which is fine, as far as that goes, but either they never received our countless emails or someone thinks it's bad form to ship computers with Dukes of Hazzard wallpaper as the default. Advertising after the break.

Best Windows ever.
@Jim
Agreed. In lieu of that I'll +1 you instead
I like the name.
its still windows!
Hey, this is actually a pretty cool, clever, slick and nice ad campaign! I like it :)
Abso-friggin'-lutely.
"windows 7: best windows ever" is like saying "syphilis: best STD ever", even if the guy that commented "it's still windows" gets lowest rank.
My Physics teacher's last name is Gay. I have seen it a couple of times, so your heterosexuality is untouched by the fact of your supoprt to Hard Gay.
Anyways, Gay = Merry = Happy, so maybe he is Hard Happy, very happy?... oh boy, I am just making things worst....
@Jim @regionto For goodness's sake, get over yourselves.
A whole bunch of people telling MS how to make Windows better. So MS gives you win7.
So get win7 cause past versions sucked a$$. nice ad LOL
That abso-friggin-lutely girl is super cute.
I'm a Mac but those ads are super cool.
Two people who are not getting laid anytime soon.
A bunch of human-PCs want things simpler. I guess getting an operating system without E-mail, Web browser, video editing, photo management, and other important software makes it really "simple"... but useless until you add everything that's missing ;-)
Is that from a Japanese TV show?
Hard-o Gay san?
@Alberto
Good point. I think it`s going to be a good campaign and a successful OS. 7 pwns Vista.
even crack heads use it. (guy in brown shit)
HARDO GAY! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Agreed!!!!! Windows is rocking some great Ads here! The best part is I see no attack on any other brand in all their recent ads! They are taking the high road. And this is my idea, trust me.
We agree to that, however..it seems today (October 23, 2009) Mr. Ballmer - CEO of Microsoft.. Used Macbook Air Notebook to present Windows 7 features on a Live-coverage feed held by NBC - Today Show.
all the detailed review: http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial/nbcs-today-show-windows-7-featured-on-a-macbook-pro/
We want to thank crunchgear for giving this super-fast update!
Speedy Gonzless!
HA DO GAY! WOOOOO!!!!
GO GET YOURSELF A WIN7 WHOPPER
WOOOHOOO~!
That would take 7 good days to finish..
"Just in! Mac users are freaks!"
Yeah, we are. ;)
Based on that first video it looks like windows 7 was Apple's idea with all the wireless working. Microsoft owes apple royalties.
@ Sue
Yes...because we all know that Apple created the world's first wireless network. Just like Apple created multi-touch. And the GUI.
These people do not look like Mac users.
Yes, because they are normal
Just in! Mac users are freaks!
I guess it's cause they're not behind some kind of white background...
Sarcasm by the way.
Microsoft doesn't know how to play chess. These ads are a response to Apple, but then are they prepared for Apple's (or Google's) next move?
@Johan S:
Isn't the Justin long campaign apple has just in response to how Apple does what Microsoft does, supposedly better?
Most advertising is in response to something else, for the most part. A lot of the stuff highlighted in these commercials are unique to microsoft - Aero Snap? The fact that Windows is the only genuine full solution for home media centers?
I always loved how apple came out with ads that did nothing but bash windows, and windows responded with "Im a PC" ads that didnt even mention apple but focused boasting micorsoft products. Kinda show who is the more threatened in this apple-microsoft relationship!
I might as well be a Mac parody. I've lived in Williamsburg and the Plateau. I shoot Indy flicks and my slr almost never leaves my side. I go to indy shows I love art openings. yes I'm that cliché. I'm also a pc. for this plain and simple reason
What can you do on a mac that you can't do on a pc? Answer : Nothing. Stop wasting your money people.
p.s. There's nothing wrong with macs other than the people who use them.
No seriously. The girl on the top right. What's wrong with her mouth? Its like she doesn't have enough face skin to close her mouth all the way. Its nothing but all teeth where lips should be. Imagine waking up next to that after drinking too much. The last thing I would be thinking would be "Is she a mac or pc user?"
"Isn't the Justin long campaign apple has just in response to how Apple does what Microsoft does, supposedly better?"
Did Windows come out before MacOS? I thought those Macs and Amigas I was using in the mid-80s had mice and Microsoft was still working on making DOS... different, not really better.
And how about the iPod, Apple's response to the Zune? What a bunch of copycats. Next thing you know, they'll come up with something to compete with the Zune HD - the upcoming one with a phone in it.
shoulda put /s on the end. -1
@yoyoma
Windows does not have a terminal... This would be the only reason I'd ever want a mac. Since I also don't want to waste money, I'm a PC as well.
Actually, the British girl was so hot. Love that accent.
@Joe
You were using a computer in the mid-80s? How old are you? Isn't it about time to retire? Shack up in a nursing home?
yoyoma,
the funny thing is, people buy a mac and boot into window. hahah
it truly befuddles me.
@Stock Lurker
It's because she's going "grrrrrr". You would know this if you watched the ad.
The woman sitting on the bench saying she want's less clutter just somes up Windows.
@yoyoma
"What can you do on a mac that you can't do on a pc? Answer : Nothing. Stop wasting your money people."
How about making the hardware and the software so the computer can constantly monitor your actions and even power down the processor between keystrokes? How many sensors does your generic PC have that talks to the motherboard for efficient power/usage management? There's a lot going behind the magic curtain that you're unaware of. So yeah, I'll pay a little extra money. You know why? Because every single Mac I ever purchased is still working. I even have a Cube on display just for fun. Most might not be useful 20 years later but they still work. BTW: I have nothing against the commercials, MS's grandest effort yet but they're not gonna convince me to switch cause everything they mention in the 3 I saw, I've been doing for a few years now. I can even watch iPhone movies on my monitor with a remote app. So good luck to all those Windows 7 buyers.. same to you Snow Leopards.
why would you want something that has no purpose anymore?
a pc might not last as long as a mac, but it doesnt matter.. 80% of the time, a computer is never used more than 5 years.. even if i get another PC after 5 years, i would still just be slightly more expensive than a mac and in this time the advancements in technology would make my new one run laps around your old mac..
I am proud to say that a bug I (and a few thousand others) reported was fixed. It's like I'm a part of history :'-)
I love these ads for not being pretentious bullsh*t.
Windows 7 is for everyone, not just for snobs or so called "creative" douche bags ...
You think they read your e-mails?
hehe, even you have to chuckle at that...
regular = ugly
so irregular = beautiful? WTF?
