AT&T Mobility CEO suggests iPhone exclusivity will end... sometime

Well, it's not much, but AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega doesn't exactly have to go too far out on a limb to attract attention when he's talking about something as big as an end to iPhone exclusivity. His latest, and seemingly most extensive ruminations on the matter came during a conference call with analysts this week, where he reportedly said that AT&T has a "legacy of having a great portfolio...that will continue after the iPhone is no longer exclusive to us," and that he thinks AT&T's ability to drive results "will continue after the iPhone." He did seem to dial things back a bit later in the call, however, switching to language like "even if we lose exclusivity" instead of "after the iPhone," and going on to extol the virtues of the iPhone, noting that "others will try to emulate them [Apple], but that device by far is the best in terms of ease of use."
I'm pretty sure the US will follow suite with the rest of the world in regards to the iPhone. What do I mean by that? I mean they will open it up to the other GSM carriers (i.e. T-mobile).
All we need is the 1700mhz band added and we will be golden.
is there an app for that?
This is how I read it:
Ralph: "Yeah, we'll be fine without the iPhone. FU Apple."
Advisor: "Pssst, sir, have you seen our recent result thanks to the iPhone?"
Ralph: What was that? Oh yeah, iPhone is awesome, the best. Apple rox"
Don't worry guys, the exclusivity will end on December 21 2012... too bad the world will end by then...
Before the iphone I was a Sprint customer for ten years. In Chicagoland Sprint has had wonderful coverage, Now with AT&T I know what its like to drop a call. Can't wait to take the iphone to a real network.
Questions is, after they lose exclusivity will they start unlocking the damn things!?
remember apple sells hardware because know one can touch there software. App store , osx, itunes, iphoto , imovie, garageband. they will continue to win as long as verizon, produces get in now(joke). Microsoft 7 . We love hardware but software makes it happen! Att or verizon you will buy iphone cuz it works bettter (software) then the rest.
