How would you change Sony's PSP Go?

Sony PlayStation Portable go
A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

make it the PS9 from the PS2 commercial.
I'm an early PSP adopter, but am very hesitant with the PSP go.
Two big reasons:
1. This whole thing smacks of a cash grab by Sony & PSP devs. More $ for the system same prices for games despite no physical media or store markup. We need a cheaper system and cheaper games in line with production costs.
2. UMD policy is ridiculous. Either add a drive or let us trade in our games for the downloadable versions. Sony expecting all of us to re-buy everything is making me sour on them as a consumer.
It looks like a nice system, and very much an improvement on earlier models. but I'm out until they addreess the items above. I wonder how much Sony will lose on the Go before rectifying things..
I was hoping for an internal hard drive (ipod has 160GB) with slightly better speakers. I don't like the sliding screen and I only see this as a part that's gonna wear out over time resulting in a lot of trade-in's at the local game store. I think they should have stuck with the thicker design and threw in a much better battery life and added media support for all the various media formats available. The problem with Sony is that they want everyone to use the stuff that they make (UMD, ATRAC, etc...) and they can't keep re-gifting old toys and keep expecting people to support it unless they redesign it based on user feedback. As far as I know, people weren't asking for the changes that were made to the PSP and the price is a whole other topic!
Make it a bigger screen, at least 5'' big.
Well I own an original PSP, plus the Slim&Light, but I have definitely not been tempted to buy this mostrosity. Three reasons -
-Its ugly as sin. The look of the original back in the mid noughties was a major selling factor, now it just looks like a cross between a ninty DS and a chunky old style HTC mobile phone, like the TyTn / TyTn2.
-Secondly, it seems Sony are oblivious to the in-roads Apple and the iPod Touch are making to the games industry. What with the hundreds or thousands of throw away mobile titles easily downloadable from the AppStore, Sony are missing a trick by only just getting into digital title distribution, and probably wont make it easy to use either. I dont think much of Sony's software/OS development skills, or innovation, and it shows.
-Thirdy, they didn't increase the hardware spec or screen resolution. It always has looked a little short on polygon count and texture quality. Somehow some of the newer 3D titles on the iTouch don't look as primitive as most on the PSP, perhaps something to do with the screens pixels-per-inch?
.
Now I use my PSP solely as an internet radio player permanently wired into some powered speakers. Nuff said.

I have a question for PSPgo owners, which I am not one of, isn't the location of the control buttons really awkward? It certainly looks so from the pictures - they are right at the front edge. I can't envision how you would hold this things while playing it. The press shots haven't helped me picture how you'd hold it either - they don't seem to show anyone actually playing a PSPGo, just holding a PSPgo.
For the PSP Go?
Wireless G.
Standardized USB port (non-proprietary)
Use of prior PSP accessories
Ability to SOMEHOW transfer UMD to download vouchers/etc.
People keep treating it like a PSP2. The PSP Go is not a new console. So I disagree in saying it should have a 2nd analog, and a touchscreen. Those are "new console" features. Like the PS3 Slim, the PSP 2k, and the PSP 3k, this is a REVISION of the console, not a NEW console. People need to stop pretending it is one. It doesn't play UMDs, but it does play the same GAMES from those UMDs. (well, at least a good number of them, though not all as of yet)
Instead of vibe it would spray real pigs blood all over your face and the faces of everyone else nearby you. First year supply of real pigs blood included, of course.
It's too late now, but I wish they had used standard USB cables.
I think it's decent as is -- a definite step up from the wide-load PSP design, which was an ergonomic nightmare for me. I don't miss the UMD drive at all, but I did take a loss and sold/re-bought some of my favorite games. It was spendy but I prefer the new hardware so much that I don't really mind.
Installing media should be simpler. It kinda sucks that wifi downloading is so slow and wonky, but at least the PC and PS3 download methods are ok (but not great).
If they would've made it look like that, I totally would've upgraded my PSP-1000 and gotten one of these.
-umd drive
-cheaper price
...umm, I guess that already exists, with the psp3000, but that one isn't so "pocket friendly", and has no blueteeth.
Sony has been bitching about piracy and then what do they do? Make it more pirate friendly and overpriced. Look, I'd go with what the others are saying and ditch that Download only crap. If Sony's doing this to test the digital market, then that was dumb because they just lost money on their "Test"...Methinks I'll keep my PSP 3000 and it's UMD capacity and eventually switch to the Nintendo DSi.
Wanna know how to get your customer base to stay, Sony? Quit resorting to crappy tactics and the annihilation of your existing customer base.

Like many, we WANT this product too :D - you got to give credit to engadget to one of the few people (aside from BGR) who laid their hands on the new droid. I don't think its ugly, but not the best looking phone too.. But take a peek at the specs, I mean does it still look ugly now? - I can't stress how much fast is the android 2.0 and how its (almost perfect) to the new droid models.

"kudus to all who waited" Judgment day: 11/06/09..
Well I was "Hoping" that the PSP 4000 or "PSP Go" Will be like a Portable PS3 Device or somekind, I did some research and if they put some "extra" features, I suggest:
1.HomeBrew Friendly
2.Custom Firmware Friendly
3.Be like a little Portable PS3 (you know, Higher graphics)
4.A VERY large Flash Memory (like 100 GB)
5.ISO/CSO Game Reader
6.Equipped Flashlight and Camera
7.Has A USB Wireless Guitar (I'm a huge Guitar Hero Fan)
8.Has a LONGER battery life (like 48 Hours)
9.Has a equipped Bluetooth
And maybe some developers can have a program that include 3-D Glasses for more Gaming Experience!
Funny thing... if you go back a year or more, a lot of the griping posted to forums was about the the need for Sony to get rid of the UMD. Many contributors were on borad: "The UMD must go!!" Sony, it seems
The moral of the story: Carefule what you wish for, 'cause you just might get it.
The other moral: If you don't like the product, don't buy it.
I bought the PSP Go, and it's just fine. It's delivers a balanced blend of game play, media functionality, and Skype (which is really handy when you travel in Europe, because many regions have wide open free internet coverage). It's not and iPod (it plays games much better than that, but it's not as media friendly), it's not a DSi (it deals much better with media than that, but it doesn't play as many games). It works for me, so I have one. If it doesn't work for you, don't get one. The market/competition will decide.
- i would add wireless HDMI - i would put another analog - i would put back UMDs and a UMD drive - make it touch screen probably - put a camera and a webcam - add an L2 and R2 button - put a full sliding keyboard - take off slide function - put more GBs like 80 GB just kidding maybe 80 GB - put bluetooth capable or headset capable.
there nuthinq rong wit it its ok and u haters out there stop suckin sonys dick and jus qet over it k
I didn't get one because (like so many others) I didn't want to downgrade. I bought the Final Fantasy Dissidia PSP pack instead with the 3000. I would've bought the Go at $250 if it had the following:
-dual analog
-more memory
-faster processor
-better flash support
-TOUCH SCREEN (is that seriously asking for too much??)
-Constant connection to a wifi access point
-better button placement
-the ability to use the accessories I've been buying for my PSP-1000 since launch date.
-Since there is no UMD drive, a UMD exchange program (in the USA) would be nice. I've read that they have it in Europe, but the program won't cover the US. (If anyone knows different I'd like to know)
-32GB storage
I'm sure if I actually bought one instead of just trying one out, I'd find more that I'd want. Some of these things are issues I have with the PSP-3000, but Sony isn't charging $250 for the core system and it's not a major change from the 2000 or really even the 1000.
I like one of the other commenter's suggesstion to have games released on a memory stick for the Go. I downloaded Final Fantasy 7 and that took up something like 1.2gb on the memory stick. If I were to also have to install the PSP games on the Go along with the music/movies/pics I think I'd run out of space pretty quick. Without being able to trade in UMDs at Gamestop for credit on newer games, I'd eventually run out of room on the PSP Go and would have to start buying memory sticks just to put my games on them. That...or just not play them.
Until the Go either comes down in price (to that of the 3000 or lower), or they get at least a touch screen, I'll stick with the 3000 model that I have now.
Sony should install Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network), so my iphone 3GS can be hooking up with tethering.. mobile gaming experiance!
