Motorola's Zeppelin spotted, found to contain Android rather than hydrogen
Last week's blurry little roadmap from Motorola gave us our first glimpse of the codename Zeppelin, and now just a few days later the back half of the thing has floated its way into the hands of someone at DIGI.QQ.com. The Android-powered handset is said to sport a five megapixel camera with flash, WiFi, a 3.1-inch 480 x 320 screen, HDMI output, and, in a first for Android, dual SIM slots marked GSM and CDMA -- technically an R-UIM slot for CDMA, actually, which pretty much limits this thing to China. And indeed, rumor has it release will come behind the Great Wall sometime in the first quarter of next year, with worldwide shipments (of some other variant, we'd imagine) sometime later. Sure, that's a long time to wait if your contract expiration is nigh, but we hear that Droid thing is pretty neat.

apples monopoly on my music and spotify on android (running in background) is making me want a android phone!
Why does Apple have a monopoly on your music? You didn't actually buy music from iTunes, did you?
The more android phones the better
hey least they are not calling it the Hindenburg
As long as Sony isn't making the batteries it should be okay.....
Motorola's Zeppelin spotted, found to contain Android rather than Led
If I owned one it would contain a lot of Led.
A "whole lotta" Led? Let's just hope you don't have a communication breakdown while talking on it.
Bring it on Home, Moto! No Quarter for the competition. This is shaping up to be The Battle of Evermore....there have been some lean years, but Moto, I Can't Quit You Baby.

Thank you for hammering the joke in, I didn't get it.
wow. and motorola is now into the android world. do u know when will acer's latest android be coming out?
Two SIM slots = CDMA support? Run that over me again?
I was wondering how they figured that as well. Can you clarify this, Tim?
"Accordance with the relevant argument shows that the phone will support GSM / CDMA dual sim dual standby technology, thus becoming the world's first to support GSM / CDMA dual-network system, Google Android phone."
Did you read the article?
@artissco: CDMA phones do not use SIM cards. There is no such thing as a CDMA SIM slot.
@jon
even some of sprint's phone uses CDMA card slot ie. some of their (corp. ed) blackberries since it's easier for fleet deployment...
@Jon....actually I believe in China their version of CDMA does have a SIM card slot. A CDMA SIM card called the R-UIM (Re-Useable Identification Module) and it was made available in China in 2002. I believe the plan is to roll them out worldwide eventually.
The pictures do show one SIM slot labeled as "CDMA". Strange.
China uses CDMA sim card.
thanks
that looks AMAZING
thanks
hdmi out? better have more than a 528 proc in there :|
color me skeptical
What is so strange - the pictures clearly show 1CDMA slot and 2SIM slot. Probably the 2SIM means you need to have a dual sim adapter. That's my guess. Otherwise - HDMI OUT - OMG - how many phones have that? The phone looks very nice, super thin and eltra grippy. I bet it has Stereo Speakers. Now I feel seriously confused - should I pick the allmighty Droid or this sexy beast here (if it comes to Europe...)
It seems very thin and light. I sure hope they have shoved at least 1000mah battery and it won't swell after one year of use. Moto FTW.
No one else bother to register the fact that it says HDMI output? If the device doesn't have a even modest GPU that's not going to do any good, would it?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
The CDMA slot is called a R-UIM (Re-Useable Identification Module) Phones that use a CDMA slot are available in China.
I wish the USA used this on their CMDA networks.
No "Oh the humanity" joke??
Dang! you beat me to it.
You win this one, Grammar freak. But we'll see about next time
--- maniacally laughs as helicopter banks away, and the audience expects it to explode at any time. ---
I love it how Motorola is pumping out one interesting handset after another... After years of meh-phones they seem to be back. Great!
O THE HUMANITY
Surely it should be called the Motorola ZPLN.
One worry given its release in Asia is what type of screen it will sport. While capacitive touch is the most common on Android, capacitive doesn't support the characters of various Asian languages, so this is likely resistive.
Really wish Motorola would consider making WinMo 6.5 phones. If only previous Moto phones running WinMo were as good as what Moto's been releasing lately.
