Fully-functional iPhone 3GS costume is expensive, bulky, and better than your Halloween idea
What could possibly convince you that strapping a 42-inch LCD TV to your body is a great idea? We don't know, but somewhere between concept and the $2,000 total expenditures -- with "no regrets," mind you -- Reko Rivera and John Savio, with the help of John Matthews, outfitted themselves with the displays used to project images from their iPhone 3GS. Unfortunately, the large screens themselves aren't touch screens, but we probably can't be that picky. Their reward? First prizes at costume parties and minor internet celebrity, which we're happy to oblige. Video after the break.

Too much glare.
ok?
Definitely agree, they should've used something more matte. why bother even adding screens if you can't see whats on them
also badger, your response doesn't make sense to me
doesnt saying "ok?" mean you're trying to confirm something?
Never mind the weight, I wonder if the TV's survive all the sweat build up when the guyphones are actually at a party.
I must hand it to them, it's one of the best tech costumes ever.
I first saw the video in youtube and I thought... only geeks will do that. Those costumes weigh more than 85lbs each! plus they have to carry car batteries with them all the time. Talking about sacrifices and 2000 bucks?? Who would do that? LOL
But at least the two got their share of limelight.
I have featured documentary photos how they build it.

Enjoy!
I know 2 guys that are getting mugged this halloween.....
Wow, that site uses the same shitty comment system as this one....
LOL best comment. /thread
wow that has to be the gayest shit i have ever seen in my life
yes, but you can use it to see the nice legs of the chick holding the camera.
did anyone else notice her?
I guess this is really the month of geek iPhone fanatics. I just read that an iPhone app named iDriver was developed by an independent app developer Apprion for German University students at Berlin. The purpose of such iPhone application is to remotely control a real life car via WiFi. How cool is that?

really?
Yep, now when someone points to me and asks what those guys are supposed to be dressed up as, I can firmly answer "fanboys".
They fail. They have utterly failed to incorporate Apple's patented rounded corners, which makes it look more like a HD2 than an iphone.
Why do it? Either because they are Apple geeks with nothing better to do or because this is garnering national attention.
I saw this on my news this morning. Apparently 5 minutes of fame = $2000.
Really indeed. Dressing up as something non-scary/non-dead for Hallowe'en is just plain weak.
Now if they were dressed as BRICKED iPhones, in keeping with the spirit of the season, then it might be clever.
@tiger578
Apparently that's what governor Spitzer paid...
I wonder where they keep the power supply.
Powered by a car battery, strapped between their legs.
it's also possible that they have a nuclear generator between their legs.
After all, it's not like it's going to do damage in real terms
That's not something I'd want to be wearing while encountering a wardrobe malfunction, or any kind of malfunction for that matter. A battery in your crotch could end badly, especially if there's beer involved.
Why do you ask? It's non user serviceable anyway.
Wow, I would definitely give those guys extra candy.
Also what the hell is the battery supply?
So that's what Jon Heder has been up to.
Some ones gonna rob there ass and walk away with 2 free TVs and 2 iphone 3gs's
Yeah, as long as you brought your pickup truck to put them in...
@ Badger_badger_badger
Well you could always run off wearing them
@ Badger_badger_badger that can be arranged easily hit them in the head with a bat knock they ass out call your friend who has or knows someone with a truck or suv
@Seven its 85 pounds plus there own body weight and they can barely walk in them now push them on there back and knock them out with a good soccer kick to the head take they sh!t i would leave the iphone's though or turn off mobile me wipe and sell them for 150 dollars
dude, atlantian, you have issues.
I KNOW WE CAN SHOOT THEM BOTH IN THE FACE AND THEN SHOOT EVERYONE ELSE IN THE FACE.
o_o
lol for god sakes i was joking lmfao
What do you hook it up to to make the screen powered and to mesh your iPhone with the display? If I could figure that out, I have the resources to buy whatever.
my favorite part is the really hot girl in the glare taking video..
you must be one horny bastard, you cant even tell if its a woman in that half second glare.
So, who's up for spamming guyphones@gmail.com? I kid....or do I..... muhahahah
Tards
lol they both run on different networks too, at&t and t-mobile.
Hi we're macs, and we're each others dates on Halloween.
of course they are there boyfriends dough.........
Hi we're Engadget's haters and we secretly envy everything Apple.
You must be high, or something...
Woah, that time of the month already?!
Seriously though High, calm down. I'm pretty sure we'd be joking if 2 random guys dressed up as Windows Logos..
At least on Halloween, I get laid unlike those virgin geeks wearing that clever crap! :-)
You only get laid on Halloween?
that's one flippin' sweet costume you got there Napolean
How is it "fully functional" if it does not have a touch screen ? Presumably, none of the iPhone buttons work either.
And how is a non-functioning, bulky, expensive costume better than anyone else's Halloween idea ?
That's what I was thinking. Cool costume idea, but I wouldn't call it fully functioning if you can't use touchscreen. Perhaps semi-functional, mostly functional, or partially functional.
Ha! If I see one of these down the road, I'll try to chase them with a knife and see if I can change their batteries!
Now watch them fall over and break those TV's.
