DJ Hero now rolling out around the world, around the world
It's been a long haul since it was first announced way back in May, but Activision's DJ Hero is now finally available in North America, and will be making the trip across the pond on October 30th. That includes both the standard $120 version, and the "premium" Renegade Edition, which runs a full $200 and includes an upgraded turntable, a hardshell carrying case that converts to a DJ stand, and a Jay-Z and Eminem two-CD set -- and the game, of course. Anyone have any brief first impressions? Let us know in comments.
Update: Looks like Eminem is doing more than just slapping his name on the Renegade Edition. Check out the video after the break in which he sits down to talk about the game and issues a challenge to none other than DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Can you buy another controller for without the game for multiplayer? If not, what's the point!
Sorry that extra "for" should not be there...
Game is quite good. Some mash-ups aren't as good as others, but that's just normal in everything.
Gonna take some getting used to, but this one is Nice. A tad expensive, but that comes with the territory.
It was already on sale on Sunday at one of the local Fry's. I saw maybe two sets go into carts while I was in the game section. The game will do quite well methinks, heck my father was smiling the whole time he played with the demo machine.
Played the game for an hour at Best Buy earlier. Game is extremely fun, controller sucks hardcore. Same as what most have said, the turntable is very loose, the buttons on the turntable are in a horrible position, especially the blue one. The crossfader is very easy to get out of position.
But hey, the game itself is a lot of fun. Really wish the controller was more like the BeatmaniaIIDX one.
Best. Headline. Ever.
I tried it and wanted to like it, but I'm just too old school. I prefer blowing shit up, head shots from long distance, and slicing some dude up with a ninja sword.
I just do not understand how this is entertaining. I think the whole Hero genre is just not for me. I am sure this game will be successful and all the kids will like it for a while, or at least until its parodied by South Park.
didn't south park already parody guitar hero?
Lol DJ Hero, whats next Kazoo Hero??
I have a question here...when did Jay Z and Em become DJs? I thought they were both rappers?
I bought it today and I'm loving it. Got the Renegade edition, the upgraded turntable is nice as is the stand... though admittedly dunno if it's so nice I couldn't have done without. C'est la vie.
The list of tracks is great. Everything from 80's to hip-hop to techno. Got a bit of everything regardless of what you're into. Luckily I happen to be into pretty much all of it.
The game is fun. I have it for the wii.
The only issue I'm having is that the Wii remote doesn't sit flush in the dock built for it - The lid doesn't close. Haven't found any forums about it yet, but it is frustrating.
While I don't want this to succeed, I know it will. I've been a DJ for the past few years as a hobby and i've played at a few night clubs. I've seen this at best buy and I can already tell that it will be the next hit. There is really nothing to do with being a dj on this besides the fader and one of the three buttons being used to stop/control the bpm by hand. The music is a perfect selection for the game and a majority of them are ones that I play daily normally. I'm just worried about all the kids who are going to call themselves "DJ's" now since they can play with some plastic that can't even call itself a CDJ.
I just don't get it... but I'm old (over 30!!), so clearly I'm outside the target demographic.
Got the game on the 27th. Even pre-ordered the Renegade Edition (the carrying case/table is nice if you plan on traveling with this game like as I do). I was skeptical about this game at first untill I played a demo copy about a month ago. Plyaing DJ Hero for the first time reminded me of playing Guitar Hero for the very first time and made me realize why I love music games so much. The crossfader does take alot of getting used to, but after just a little bit of practice, I was able to position my fingers in such a way that I was able to tell where the crossfader was by touch alone. My only main complaint about the game is that it seems to me that certain songs digress into random scratch fests and that sometimes extra scratch sections are thrown in just to inflate the difficutly of the mix. But the mixes for the most part are very clever. Never thought I would ever play a game that mashed-up Ice Ice Baby with U Can't Touch This. Oh, and and the Daft Punk set list is my favorite so far...
I played it in BBY, I love rock band and guitar hero. But this, I just couldnt get into it.
I felt like I was just standing there pushing buttons. I came into BBY with hopes of walking out with it, after playing it for 20mins I changed my mind about that. Do yourself a favor and play before you buy. I might pick it up just to have it for a party when they drop price to under $100
As a long time gamer, I cant believe that more people aren't giving more reviews like this.
this looks dope
I haven't been able to stop playing this game. I used to be a DJ and know that this isn't realistic but cmon, its a game and shouldn't be. I love it. I made a quick video showcasing it here: http://bit.ly/DJHeroReview There's also a review, demo and an unboxing thrown in.
