HTC Droid Eris peeks its head out once more, shows off 5MP camera
Hey, HTC -- we're onto you. We know you're a little upset that the lower-end Droid Eris isn't getting much attention now that the DROID is all over Verizon's marketing agenda, but it's not like we don't feel your pain. For those interested in spending a full Benjamin less on their next Android handset (on Big Red, anyway), the Droid Eris looks to offer that very solution, and now a few more sneak peeks have shown that a 5 megapixel camera (with a video record mode) is gracing the rear. We're also told that WiFi will be onboard (right, VZW?), and a bundle of joy will also be thrown in after mail-in rebate. Whatever that means.

Will it be possible to get an Eris with a 1 year contract and a larger outlay? Say $200 or $300. This way when the second gen of Snapdragon processor-based android 2.5 or 3.0 phones are arriving, you can sign another contract. Things are going too fast these days to be trapped in 2 year contracts.
Verizon will let you get the two-year price on a phone if you are still in contract on another, all you have to do is add 2 years onto your current contract - i.e. in a year you can get your new phone and be locked in for 3 more years total. They don't seem to care because you sign that magical piece of paper that says they get their money no matter what.
Is there any Americans thAt would seriously drop $500 on a Hyundai,., I mean htc?
Btw my first smart phone was htc in 2004 $550.
Back then wasn't even branded u had to remove battery n sim to reveal htc. Sick dude Anyone???
Ha, North Pole, I see they're ready for the holiday sales season.
We can agree that it won't be a hot seller like the iPhone, because HTC doesn't understand what customers want and needs.
It will be a hot seller. Just not as much so as the iPhone because it won't have the hype. VZw is pushing the Droid.
I'd might take this over the Droid if it's thinner. I don't need hardware keyboard and I'd rather install TouchPal for Android as that's a phenomenal software keyboard.
It's true that Sprint roams on Verizon in most areas but that does NOT mean it's the same network. It's only the same network when you are roaming which is hardly ever. You also won't get EVDO while roaming as that's generally not in the roaming agreement.
I think I will be getting rid of my Tour for this.. It keeps getting better and better!
