Cisco FlipShareTV streamer outed in FCC documents
Flip Video remote, meet your family. One of Cisco's latest FCC filings happened to keep its user manual outside the seal of confidentiality, giving us a pretty good look at FlipShareTV, a setup for streaming recorded video from the computer's FlipShare software, out the USB dongle transmitted wirelessly to the receiver connected to the TV... and that's about it. Nothing too thrilling here, and there's no indication of price or release date. More pictures below -- any Flip enthusiasts actually excited by this?

Nice
You're a variation of those "FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" people, aren't you?
I wish I didn't need more hardware but I am hoping it's "Flip simple". Would prefer to have made FlipShare a could service.
Of course, I meant "cloud" service :)
Exactly, why would anyone want this? Most TV's have sd card slots, just buy a card and use that. Or buy the HDMI cable to go from player to TV directly. It has a single use. That use is pointless.
I hope you don't mind me saying so but you look a little feminine for a Jeff.
Test
Success!
This would be really cool to watch to watch downloaded movies with on TV but I agree with the above poster that a TV card would work better and cheaper.
Looks like a smoke alarm.
(oh, and most TV's do not have an SD card slot)
Ugh, Flip. My Mino HD is a huge piece of junk. Bought it because I needed a video camera in an emergency, and it depresses me every time I pick it up. It's just so... cheap, and not in a good way.
I like our Mino HD. But I don't see what this is for, or why I'd want it. To stream my Flip videos to the TV? What about my other videos? Is this just another video streamer thing? Aren't there like a million of those, and none of them are selling that well?
Where is the RJ45 port? Why do you need a special dongle when you can use exisiting wireless b/g/n technologies?
This is very disappointing and especially from a networking leader like Cisco...
So they can watch the videos they shot on their flip camera on their TV, without resorting to sneakernet or flashlights/cables/dustbunnies each time.
I'd imagine quite a few people would be interested in having the ability to watch all the home videos they have shot quickly and easily.
If it's cisco, you know it's going to be expensive. Seems a little overdone to me. I like the Apple Frontrow + Western Dig NAS + 802.11n solution i have set up. Works fine for me. I'm sure this could translate well for a person with windows media center as well. I didn't have much luck with the 802.11n USB adapters, so if anyone tries that...stay away from those. Just personal experience on my older mac mini, so your results may vary.
Seems a bit of a daft product, or at least aimed at those who want a single type solution. A media streamer does this and much more, such as the WD Live. HOWEVER many of these streaming solutions are for the technologically savvy, so if a simple solution that has great software it might work. So for my mum or something ;)
Why this while Cisco also proposes its Linksys home movie box... Wouldn't it be easier to use that platform for everything instead of having to use dongles, cables, yet other software, etc???
