Dog buys 5,000 Microsoft points, says he just wanted to check out the Abbey Road DLC
Say what you will about dogs being man's best friend -- they sure can get into a lot of trouble. While our dogs have been limited to eating shoes and shedding on our furniture, Greg Strope of Richmond, Virginia has reason to believe his furry friend has gone the extra mile. While he lay in bed sleeping, his dog Oscar, he believes, purchased 5,000 Microsoft points. The only possible culprit, Oscar left some telltale signs (drool and scratches) on the Xbox controller, leading Greg to blame the $63 purchase on him. We have to admit the dog's actions rather impress us, though it also makes us nervous about all those times we left our laptop open and unattended around our own tiny beast. Video featuring damning photographic evidence is after the break.

In Internet Time, this happened, last year.
And by that, you mean last Thursday.
I hope this dog gets RROD.
Stupid f'ing story.
At least it's not $63 worth of child porn.
Beat me to it
Beat you to it? Have a seat over there.
Just take a seat, please, take a seat.
Nice pun.
Facepalm, but under that facepalm im laughing
Im chris Hannnnnnnnsen.
@Haikibutsu
I don't know if what you said was on purpose, or if you have deep down thoughts of child porn and dream of beaing "beat to it", but well played sir, well played.
Yay now i have a good excuse for buying stuff online!
So easy a Dog can do it.
Glad to see Fox News is still covering the important news.
Turns out fox news was wrong when they told you to "buy a dog" to protect yourself from hackers on steroids.
Yep, because MSNBC only does hard-hitting, important news, like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=367kF_Wjacg
Oh, and I just saw a bit on the local news about the latest holiday fashions which ended with the reporter's name followed by "NBC News." I am glad I did not miss it, because that kind of news is so important in describing world events. I am so glad NBC, with the news and only the real news (and not that crap from the ***other*** cable network) is there for me. I am so much more informed now.
NBC News just had a bit on TV about the new Star Trek museum. Thank-you NBC News for only showing me the real news, I bet that stupid Fox news does not have important stuff like this.
If you don't have a clue yet, it is called a human interest story. ***ALL*** news channels do it.
Isn't this one of Fox's morning shows? The last time I checked all the morning shows aired stupid crap like this.
Giving a large TV role to a black woman was historical and newsworthy in its day. MS points will never be truly newsworthy.
Big D, I assume you were commenting on my Star Trek museum comment. They showed the set, the clothes, they talked about how the clothes had zippers, some lame joke about how they kept transporting a worker at the museum in and out when she was talking about the exhibit, and one of the guys that I suppose was an actor on the show (not a fan of Star Trek, so I am not sure who he was)talking about how it had been many years since he was on the show. Nothing about a woman, her race, etc.
But yes, them showing how some of the costumes were made out of bubble wrap, and some lasers they used were made out of salt and pepper shakers, it was so chock full of hard hitting news.
Nohone:
yeah, anyone who blasts fox news and then watches MSNBC is just asking for the fire hose. I watch CNN myself, and then only for 30 minutes at lunch time. The rest of my news comes from sources that have comments sections where people can rebuke the post if needed. Non-interactive news is so ten years ago.
I Love how Nohone assumes that the OP likes MSNBC, because those are the only two news groups out there. good job.
NohOne, is there a reason you keep replying to me (3 times in 22 minutes) and mentioning MS[NBC] each time?
I've never purchased anything through Xbox so I'm not sure what the process is like, but if it's anything similar to the process with the Playstation store, I don't believe it.
Might be usable as a plotline in a detective show, person buys stuff with the X360 then gives the controller to the dog to chew on, everybody thinks it was the dog until the detective cleverly find a clou to prove the opposite.
Pretty easy.
You can save all your credit card details, so you can pretty much one-click anything you want.
sign 1 that dog is smarter buys points from microsoft :O
Skinny gamer nerd, fatttttttttt girlfriend.
more cushion for the push'in
shes just sitting there like a lump on a pickle...
Yeah Iam calling BS on that one. Thats probably just what he told his girlfriend when she saw the credit card bill.
just incase she ate him
Seriously, this guy is a friend of mine. He put it up on his facebook right after it happened with pictures of the drool covered controller. I believe him.
tell your friend that letting his girlfriend eat the dog wasnt such a good idea.
holy shit that chick is ugly
I just want to try and shove her upper teeth back in her mouth. :(
That dog is very puntable.
oh, you. I thought you got kicked out after you insulted Joshua Topolsky on the motorola droid review, but I guess not.
Yes, that insult was in poor form.
Is there a "confirm purchase" option? I don't know, I only redeem cards with MSFT, not use my credit card. But usually a reasonable safety measure is to put in a "confirm purchase" option in case buttons are accidentally pressed.
Wouldn't the confirm purchase option still require you to press buttons? It is still possible to hit the right sequence at random, especially of the default is "OK".
well, I believe that confirms it's Sunday...
lolololo now blame the dog......
This is not news.
@CJ i'm sorry, but you made my day(:
@Alex Patellis
Well it's the truth lol.
I meant more like why on earth is Engadget posting this...
@CJ
What would you know about FOX News? Apparently, you have not yet passed third grade grammar workshops.
Well, ROFL, neither did Obama. So, he has a legitimate excuse.
I have the fake city backdrop in the interview.
Only a dumbass fan dweller would be that stupid.
hum..... something smells like the balloon boy over there.....
