Someone on the big wide internet has the HP Compaq
Mini 311 and did up an unboxing for us all to share in. Spoiler alert: the packaging is about as exciting as a shoe box, which is pretty unfortunate for such an exciting product. Meanwhile, someone on the other end of the internet went to the trouble of actually ripping apart their Mini 311, so the rest of us can see how HP squeezed that
ION in there without getting our hands dirty. Spoiler alert: doesn't look too hard to us. Video of the unboxing is after the break.
If only it had a better processor.... like a SU7300
I love my mini 311, its got solid GFX performance and in great form factor...highly reccomended for those who need something light and extremely portable....not it doesnt play crisis but it does play COD 4!
Ha ha ha, modded down by the very asshats who gobble this pathetic drivel up.
Munch munch munch! Get a bib.
So... you're bitching about EXCITEMENT LEVEL OF THE PACKAGING?
It's pathetic enough that people post VIDEO of a box being opened. More pathetic that anyone watches it. More pathetic still that a site would consider this news and propagate it.
Seriously, turn over the editorial duties to someone with some judgment.
I used to think Unboxingings were dumb too...until Droid day last week. The unboxing was fun to watch
It's also a teardown whereas your post will be voted down.
@IC
Yeah I laughed my ass off at that too. Like opening a box is supposed to be like:
AWW HELL YEAH, CHECK OUT THIS UN-IMPORTANT BOX WITH ALL MY IMPORTANT SHIT IN IT!! IT'S ON, BOX!!!!
*commences opening box softly and removing the content slowly*
I really like unboxing videos and I think they're good for people that are excited about the deivce and can't wait to get it : I also got mine yesterday and MAN! I was excited to unbox it! Thats for sure!
they fit albeit very snugly into Targus 10.2 messenger bag style netbook carrying totes. smallest thing i could find at Fry's that would hold it.
still need to get a 1080 lcd to test its viability as a media center

Is there a decently priced laptop available which has good graphics for HD media like 9400m and a decent mainstream CPU .I feel even dual core atom CPUs with ION suck at non media tasks. I like the specs of macbook but my budget is only around $600? can anyone help me?
get a better job
No.
Damn, that's a tough one, I haven't really seen any high-performance laptops go for $600. If you're willing to shell out and extra $399, then a Studio 15 by Dell is perfect. It has a display of 720p to 1080 with the ATI Radeon HD. But the problem is the price.
The HP Mini 311 and Lenovo Ideapad S12 both have Ion and are under $600...
According to NewEgg, other than Atom/ION netbooks, the only non-Atom laptops with dedicated graphics (ATI or Nvidia) under $600 are these three:
$400 Acer AS5517 (15.'6", Turion 64, ATI Radeon HD3200)
$450 Acer Aspire AS5536 (15.6", Athlon X2, ATI Radeon HD3200)
$450 Toshiba Satellite L505D (15.6", Athlon II M300, ATI Radeon HD4100)
After those, the next cheapest laptops start at $600.
If there's one thing I learnt from this video, its that most notebooks have their left and right mouse buttons at the bottom.
Yes, that's valuable information, albeit boring.
Wait a sec, this is Compaq branded?
they use the compaq brand for products they release overseas. here in the states it's just an HP mini 311
Really, who cares about the packaging? I'd much rather my money be spend on what's *inside* the packaging.
Can anyone tell me the speed of the RAM, all the HP site says is DDR3. @superfresh this is probably being marketed as Compaq in some other countries, such as Germany. I just checked the Compaq site for Germany and it indeed says Compaq Mini 311, whereas the American site says HP Mini 311. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/de/de/ho/WF02a/321957-321957-3832385.html
Depends on the model, those with the n270 can use 1066mhz or faster (will run at 1066mhz) whereas the n280 requires 1333mhz+.
But will it play WoW?
Yes it will play Wow. Here is a list of compatible and working games:

It has an AC/DC port? Are there options for other bands when you order one?
I like that easily accessibly mini PCI slot, but I don't like the positioning of the HDMI port - should be further back out of the way.
