I would recommend backing up your Cydia stuff using the above back up app, then restore to the 2.2 stock firmware, then do the 3.1.2 upgrade then jailbreak and restore your apps.
Installed fine, too bad it killed my wifi all together after unlocking the phone. Nice job..... I already restored my phone
I must of done somethin' wrong... it keeps goin' on and off searching for a provider... (I have tmobile...) also my internet is not workin'...
Gap.
Cool
Well I had an unlocked jailbroken 3G running 2.2. I now have a locked/unbroken iphone running 3.1.2!
I don't know what is going on, but it gets to the part where it says waiting for reboot, but it doesn't reboot. I got the frodo pic and am in recovery mode, but thats where it stops. I am not in the USA and do not have AT&T over here so it keeps searching for activation. Of course I don't know how that will happen over here (Philippines). It appears that I now have a brick and am going to have to go buy another phone until i can return to the US and try again...
Appreciate any suggestions...
get yourself a Globe iphone sim. try to activate it !
but I worry, blacksn0w claims to hactivate
Do I have any reason to update my jailbroken iphone from fw 3.0 to 3.1.2?
youtube does not work..
"cannot connect to youtube"
Limited multi-tasking is the killer app for me - using Backgrounder, you can keep any app (App Store or otherwise) running while switching to another, allowing me to, for instance, keep Opie & Anthony playing in the the Sirius-XM app while I surf the web in Safari. It's not perfect - you have to watch how much memory you have left, because if you run low, the OS will automatically close apps open in the background to recover memory; and not all apps work correctly in the background because the way it's implemented is meant to fool the app into thinking it's still running in the foreground - but the pros far outweigh the cons for me.
Customization is another big boon for jailbreaking - not just skinning with WinterBoard, but other features like enabling the battery % counter on non-3GS devices, showing the date and free RAM next to the time in the status bar, showing more apps per SpringBoard page, etc. I don't want to be limited to what Apple says I should use, so I jailbreak to customize my device to MY needshttp://discounttagheuerwatches.us/, not Steve Jobs' needs.
I tried my Globe sim and it does not recognize the sim. Also I have to put the ATT sim back in so I can access itunes.
Sure hope that I am not totally "locked" into ATT now.....
My bad...I knew better then to jump on this on day one...but I needed my docs to go back and it only works with 3.0 or better.
Ok to those having problems did you run the blackra1n app after you ran the installer? You run that app and when you see the options Cydia, Rock, and sn0w then you run the sn0w option. If you are having problems with wifi then go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. That should take care of it, or you may have to power down and back after the reset.
Or anyone having problems just go to blackra1n.com and look at tutorials. Probably better answers than I can give here.
Does anyone have a link to standalone versions of blacksn0w and blackra1n? Perhaps I can get them to install seperatly as the gangbang doesn't seem to work for me.
Also, Is it possible that my problem is caused by being away from an ATT signal? I was unlocked before I ran the module and it the iphone keeps sitting on a message that says "waiting on activation. This could take some time".
Lastly, blackra1n.com doesn't seem to have any tuts, just a download and contribute link. At least thats all I can find...
I dont know if you have done this but you could try updating your firmware
through itunes. That would give you 3.1.2 firmware and 5.11.7 baseband.
I assume this would backup everything in your phone. At this point, you
are in the emergency mode only.
now run the whole blacksn0w thing. when its done rebooting, run the blackra1n
app(with wifi of course) from your springboard check "Cydia" and "Snow" and install.
Does this work with T-Mobile? I know exactly how to restore and stuff, I'm just afraid I'll lose my service... Thanks.
Got my 3GS 2days ago, and they seem to have changed the bootloader.
I can JB my phone with ease, install cydia and have fun. But the moment i have to reboot the phone, it goes in to restore modus.
Only way to get it working again is to restore it from itunes, or by running blackra1n again.
So i CAN have a JB phone, but the minute it for some reason/hangs/I shut it down, it needs to be connected to a pc to get it going : /
Finally!! For some reason it took me 5 tries to get this to work. I didn't do anything different but it finally took!
Any links to jailbroken apps that people like? I got backgrounder but curious what others like..

"It's pretty sad when a second-class hacker needs to copy the naming convention of the primary iphone hacking group. I mean Blackra1n was bad enough - but at least it was more subtle.
Whatever - I'm sticking with the Dev Team and their goods."
Sorry, but instead abusing people, you should look at yourself, what can you do ?
Nothing but opening and shouting with your big-mouth. Even dev-team congrats to Geohot.
Shame people sold freeware on eBay and websites that aim they created their own tools.
What a shame....
