Josh reveals TwitterPeek on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Qlorigan** (video)
Only on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon could the TwitterPeek overshadow Verizon's DROID. Fact of the matter is, it's easier to grasp the idea of a dedicated tweeting device than a Verizon phone touting "open development" as one of its main features. TwitterPeek is available now for $200, a price that includes lifetime service, or $100 for a 6 month subscription. Hit the read link below for details or mosey on through to the other side of the break for the Late Night buffoonery.

No, it's ok. In Bay Area it used to be the best 3G network until mass adoption of iPhones. It works just fine in all other respects, though my wife started complaining about dropped calls after she switched to iPhone 3G. My old HTC which is using 3G all time as well does not have these problems. I've heard AT&T network in New York is really dead especially during the day.
I'm on the West Coast and I'm glad they posted the video clip early so I don't have to wait for Jimmy's god awful show...
Overall, the segment was pretty lame b/c it lacked content and the humor was drier than a cooch from a 95 y/o woman.
Josh is such a tool...
I agree with you about posting the clip early, but not about the other stuff.
I'm generally not a fan of Fallon -- I only watch when he has good guests (like Felicia Day or the Monty Python troupe) -- but I don't think this segment was that dry. I know gadgets aren't known to be talk show material the way celebrities and movies are, but I think Josh did a decent job of making the Droid and TwitterPeek as interesting and mainstream-friendly as he could.
Considering the Droid doesn't have a whole lot of appeal outside the geeky world, and considering TwitterPeek isn't worth its high cost of ownership, I think Josh did well presenting them to the public. It's unfortunate he didn't show off the HD2, but that was likely due to time constraints.
@all things considered
Really? I'm in the same area, and everyone I know on AT&T has problems with poor signal and dropped calls, while I have almost perfect coverage through Verizon.
Haha, I found this interview pretty hilarious...mainly b/c Josh & Jimmy together = win imo. I wish they would keep you on for more than 5 minutes tho :(
His pants are so baggy compared to the last Engadget Show.
Oh! Aren't we all so clever and funny.
Did you hear the audiences of dumbnuts laughing at the TwitterPeek. Probably some technologically underdeveloped floor manager held up the "Laugh at the Geek" board at that point.
Sickeningly sycophantic. Let's get back to the tech NEWS and stay off the bandwagons.
My network's bigger than yours....
...and all the ladies love that.
Actually ATT service is pretty good in most larg cities listed above, however, outside of that the service is a bit bad or even non-existant in places especially in the Central part of the country where the population is lower.
I guess it's the same about complaining about using the camera on your phone. It's all about convenience. I'd rather use Twitter off my WinMo, all about convenience.
I don't see how this will take off unless you're a Twitter addict.
Everybody, just hit the exclamation mark. We may not get him banned as quickly as his name suggests but we banned he will be.
Win.
You didn't exploit the terrifying DROID sound? It's late night comedy gold.
DROID
Which one is Jimmy Fallon?
More useless than a 10 dollar mobile phone.
Josh has gone all Rick Moranis...
Honey, I shrunk the pants.
Great job Josh, love the show, your sense of humor is universal it seems. Maybe you need your own late night comedy show!! Co-partners w/ Fallon.
Wow... Okay I savagely ripped Josh's dress and appearance on the last few shows and I must say This is finally professional. Just one thing and its like wheening a kid into the later stages- lose the white shoes with the dark pants- its out of style and looks ridiculous- stop the rebel its comfortable crap and move into the full look..
A dedicated twitter device... lame. People don't want to carry around a phone, a music device, and now a twitter device. I think I'm one of the last people on Earth that just doesn't have a Twitter account, and I have no plans to get one. As if Myspace and Facebook aren't breeding grounds for stalkers already. Twitter is for update whores who want to validate their lives for every day tasks that they have to do anyway.
It's okay, I think us update whores will be okay without you. And you should probably take a deeper look at why you insult people that you don't know, over something that you obviously don't understand.
They're in New York, where I understand there are so many iPhone users concentrated I to one small area using constant data that is bogs down the network and causes constant call drops, lost and delayed texts and missing voicemails. This even affects non-iPhone users from what I can gather.
no they are down raking you cause your a moron
android to me feels just as its name states. Impersonal, unfeeling and cold. The droid is nothing more than a G1 re-invented, it has ground to make up if it wants to beat out the Iphone3GS and it really better do its homework if it wants to compare to the Pre and Pixi. IMO WebOS is the best hands down. True Open Source, ergonomically perfect, quick (not fast), and reliable. Also, stylishly designed!
Congratulations! Great performance, Joshua, and you're getting funnier.
Josh is actually kind of funny.
Oh dear, a suit and tie and regular shirt, soon he'll be saying 'gosh' and 'heck' too, and will forget the details about internet but will volunteer it's dangerous for the kids, let's hope a replacement is found as he's lost to that world
I'm sort of 'joshing' of course, but the jacket&shirt&tie on him does make him look even more geeky somehow, like some spoof on the tech d00d.
But the segments were not bad, seems josh and fallon are more attuned to each other, or rater josh is more accepting fallon's lead to avoid awkwardness it seems to me.
for you people in large cities, or in higher populated places in the country, att works fine. for me, att has no 3g coverage within 100 miles of my house, their coverage is terrible (i used to get it maybe 10% of the 30 min drive to school) while verizon's comes in at about 90%. verizon has 3g coverage the whole way.
Sorry to be shallow, but Android's UI looks like shit aesthetically. If you're marketing to the iPhone crow, you'll do well to clean it up. Granted, they've already indicated that they are aiming the device more at nerds than mainstreams trendsters, but it has to be said that this thing still looks rough around the edges. After almost two years. It's not like Google is a new player in UI, which is what bothers me. The whole thing looks like it was written in someone's garage. The apps may not reflect that, which I applaud, but why the hell have they not done more to clean up the home screen or the navigation across the phone? Tey're at 2.0 on this piece of shit, after all. Take a page out of HTC's handbook, for Christ's sake. I'm admittedly an iPhone user, but I'm not daft and not outside the realm of being tempted away from the big shiny apple by a better, more versatile or advanced device. I'm just saying, at this point the HD2 would be it, if anything. IF only they slapped that skin on something that wasn't Winmo. Up your appeal, Google. And act like a company the company you really are, the next anti-trust victim...
Hey noob, you can change everything about Android, including the UI.
@all things
I love that you are an AT&T customer but you "have to admit" a verizon ad is stupid. That's an hilarious attempt at misdirection. Guess what?! A lot of people still live and travel to the verizon areas noted on the map. Hey that's great if you only stay in large cities some people get around a lot more and having a real network is important. I know two people who have and love their iphones but they carry another phone on verizon because not only can they not count on their main phone in certain big cities, they travel all over and need to always be connected.
There nothing "ridiculous" about covering parts of the country that you yourself don't go to.
it appears that in verizon's coverage map they're including 1X as "3G" coverage
The state of Michigan in their map is solid red.
When I when up north with some pals , their Verizon phones where on a single bar of 1X, which I highly doubt is faster than EDGE.
Sorry for the slightly random question, but don't the various companies share their towers over there, like they do here in the UK?
@logicbomb
1x is technically 3G so it's perfectly OK they include it in the map.
Rick Moranis from ghostbusters was on the Jimmy Fallon show?
TwitterPeek = Best Christmas gift EVER!
Yeah, technically CMDA 1X EVDO is considered 3G, but it's painfully slow at ~128kbps... I'd call it more like 2.5G or something. All of Verizon's lowest end dumbphones use it, while the higher end devices use EV-DO Rev.0/A
I love the fact that Jimmy Fallon says on national TV that ATT's NY network constantly drops his calls! I guess they dont have an app for that!
I just wish I could watch these clips on my iPhone.
Josh, you looked better with a beard/facial hair haha
This TwitterPeek idea is actually pretty good. People can avoid the crazy data charges that cell phone companies use, and still communicate with tons of people, since damn near everyone uses Twitter these days anyway. It's not enough for *my* tech needs, but it's a good device anyway.
I go into more detail at the link (http://www.urbaneapts.com/urbanereflections-blog/?p=3003). But overall, I like the idea of TwitterPeek a lot.
