T-Mobile USA down all over the place? (update: yes)
We're getting reports from sea to shining sea this evening that T-Mobile service is down or intermittent on both voice and data -- particularly bad timing in light of the recent Sidekick drama. We've tested in New York and it's definitely down for us -- both voice and data -- so how's service treating everyone out there?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: We just got an official statement from T-Mobile, and it's confirmed -- service is down. Here's the statement:
Update 2: All service is now restored, according to the company -- they say about 5 percent of users were affected by the outage, though circumstantial evidence would certainly suggest that the number is higher (especially considering that New York City was one of the dead zones)."T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available."

Your cell phone goes down... and you immediately think "Oh shit, it's time for a different carrier?" If you decide on switching for the temporary disruption, which by the way, my service is now running great again, I seriously hope whoever your carrier may be that this sort of disruption plague you. Fools.
If you had a job that relies heavily on being able to be contacted, you might understand. Those who have it for recreational purposes aren't going to care as much. I am a Network Admin, and I am on call 24/7. If the President of my company has computer issues, or the server goes down, server room gets too hot, humidity is off, power goes out, etc, I need to know about it. Immediately. So yeah, it is a big deal. And my phone was dead for about 5-6 hours last night.
If you were smart, you would realize that nothing technology-wise is up 100% -- even with redundancy. So, no, you still don't have an argument.
Again, there were network admins around when cell phones weren't around.
umm yea.. my coverage was down from 5:30pm till about 1:00am, no voice or data! I spoke to a rep from my landline at wrk. They handed me a $5 credit to my bill for the trouble.. gee, thanks.
My blackberry was acting funny all night, the EDGE signal went completely out so I was on the GSM thing for a while but i could not text any body or get data. I could not receive any calls, I was just able to make outgoing call to other non tmobile cell phones and landlines.
So, how long before someone blames this on Microsoft?
wow everyone needs to relax no matter who you will use as a carrier the system can fail, no matter what if no one can accept that fact dont use technology at all, what if verizon has the same issue tomorrow att next month srint next year are you going to do nothing but jump carriers, thats a bit nuts, no matter how you look at it have a back up cause as time progesses you will see more outages happeneng with all 4 major carriers.
well im on my 4th phone from shitty ass tmobile in 7 months, so im gonna complain all i want. tmobile sucks shit and when they start giving me free phone service than i wont complain. as long as im paying for something it better fuckin work!!

Come on, I have been with T-Mobile for almost 8 years. In my experience this is the first time something like this has happened. Things go wrong with all networks. Nobody and nothing is perfect. Before T-Mobile I have been with Sprint, AT&T and a couple others. Now I can tell you about some experiences with them. T-Mobile is pretty good. Their plans are the best out there except for maybe Cricket and others like those. GO T-MOBILE!!
See,T-mobile sucks. Switch to at&t.
If you are a customer and call T-Mob's customer Service, they are offering to pay back $5 per line on your account. Not much maybe, but I do appreciate them acknowledging the problem.
