Opera Mobile 10 features tabbed browsing, disses WinMo

Opera Mobile 10 beta brings powerful features to world's most-used smartphone platform
Oslo, Norway - November 3, 2009
Opera Software today unveiled the beta of Opera Mobile 10 for Nokia and other Symbian/S60 handsets. Most notable in the new Opera Mobile 10 beta is a sleek design, which Opera first introduced to the world in the recent release of Opera Mini 5 beta. The crisp, new look introduces the Speed Dial, tabbed browsing and the always convenient password manager to Opera Mobile. Opera Mobile 10 beta is optimized for both touchscreen and keypad-style navigation and is available for free from http://www.opera.com/mobile/next/.
Performance was prioritized in this beta. It is twice as fast as the previous Opera Mobile released for Symbian/S60, and users will discover significant speed improvement when downloading pages, zooming and panning. Opera Turbo is also integrated, saving end users both time and money with its server-side compression technology.
"Today's powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser, like Opera," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "This beta continues our work to extend the desktop Web experience to mobile phones, allowing users to surf the Web without limitations, even while on-the-go. No matter the device in use, Opera delivers a faster, easier and hassle-free Web experience."
Fresh design
Alongside the new Opera Mini 5, Opera has revamped the look and feel of its mobile-browser portfolio to ensure that it is simple and intuitive, making mobile Web browsing easier than ever.
Desktop favorites on the mobile phone
Opera desktop feature favorites, including tabbed browsing, Speed Dial and password manager, make it easier for you to surf on the go by reducing the time and effort it takes to get to a Web site.
Advanced compatibility
Opera Mobile 10 beta uses the very latest generation of the Opera browser engine, ensuring that all your favorite Web sites and applications work exactly the way they do on a desktop computer.
Availability
Opera Mobile 10 beta is available for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones running Symbian/S60, 3rd and 5th editions. The beta is free to download to your computer from http://www.opera.com/mobile/next/ or directly to your mobile phone from http://m.opera.com/mobile/.

In my opinion, in Symbian, Skyfire is the best browser of all. It loads REALLY quickly, loads pages fully (not saying Opera Mobile doesn't, but Skyfire does it a bit more quickly).
Overall, Opera Mobile 10 seems really solid. I love the interface, it looks very sleek. My main gripe with Opera Mobile is that it uses it's own system when typing, meaning you can't use predictive text to type. That's disappointing. Also, if you press the pencil button on your phone to open up a list of special characters, it doesn't function like that in Opera Mobile. I wish they would've left it alone.
Yo mama disses WinMo. STOP IT ENGADGET, JUST STOP IT
on my n95 8gb, its the only browser that doesn't actually hurt to use
This + HD2 = goodness
Too bad its exclusively for Nokia / Symbian smartphones. Would have loved to see this in a firmware update on the A5. But that's really day dreaming with Archos. Oh well.
what? that tab implementation is horrible. you can't see what the other tabs have
I'm using it. You can.
Next.
The tabs on Opera mobile 10 work fine, I am using it on a SE Satio and it runs really smooth, thumnails are visible and not a problem for me
omg, do you see those nails??
OMG A WOMAN HOLDING A SMARTPHONE? UNPOSSIBLE!!111one
@MarkAnderson
I have the same problem with the Windows Mobile version.
It looks like a cheap knock-off of the iPhone web browser that debuted almost three years ago. It's sad how far behind some companies are.
Except Opera actually is fluent, fast and easy to use.
Use it and you'll see.
I agree. Some phones still do not have
1. Flash (Camera or browser)
2. Real Multitasking
3. Decent Camera above 5MP
blah
blah
blah
Kettle, Pot, Black.

That's quite interesting, considering the fact that the iPhone browser ripped off the pan and zoom interface from Opera.
Also, this browser looks nothing like the iPhone browser. But hey, keep fanboying away!
wasnt really to impressed with the opera of my Touch pro it was laggy unresponsive at times and slows down my phone and sucking battery life faster than other programs. Internet Explorer FTW (only for my phone lol though)
Opera Mini 5 also features tabbed browsing, and much more besides.
I tried both on my phone and the GUI is practically the same, although Opera Mobile is a bit more polished.
But the performance is a lot better than Opera Mini.
Hopefully an Android version will come along soon as well. What Opera currently have for that platform isn't up there.
Keep it up Opera!
Installed in on my Nokia 5800 and it works flawlessly. The virtual keyboard is actually quite accurate but I wish they would implement heptics on it like in the normal mode. Could be abit more responsive when typing but overall it's a great browser.
This is old hat. Rockin' this opera on my i910 right now. What's new?
I downgrade myself since I actually have Opera Mini 5 beta on my i910, not 10.
After Initial testing on my part i conclude it rocks. Havent seen the opera link setting anywhere. Is it hidden in "opera:config"?
Omnia HD and Opera Mobile 10 FTW

Test...
Test. This seems to suck, as it doesn't send me a password.

Nokia phone not only offers a communication media intended for family, associates plus equals, but moreover a stand for information as well as amusement for the customer.
Wow, you guys really hit the nail on the head with this article. Somehow I'm running Opera 10 beta 2 on my Touch Pro 2 right now... And it is also coming out for Android.
And I like how there's an article for the Symbian launch and the Android launch, but not for the Windows Mobile one. And for some reason this article adds the whole "disses WinMo" to the headline.
