NVIDIA takes its feud with Intel to cartoonish new levels

Oh, boy. Just when you thought NVIDIA 's feud with Intel couldn't rise above endless name-calling, lawsuits and production shutdowns, NVIDIA does this. In a series of not-so-subtle cartoons on the recently established Intel's Insides website -- which NVIDIA's spokesperson has confirmed is, in fact, hosted by NVIDIA -- NVIDIA takes aim at Intel (and CEO Paul Otellini, specifically) over a range of alleged ill doings, and even goes so far as to include a cheeky disclaimer that the site "is not provided, sponsored or endorsed by Intel Corporation." Hit up the gallery below for a quick retrospective, and stay tuned for what we can only hope is a decent comeback from Intel.

NVIDIA is gay! I will never ever buy anything with NVIDIA in it... Freaking criminals ... They mess produced defective crap for consumers that were stuck like me. Maybe you guys forgot all the melted chips but I will NEVER ever forget. It hit to close to home. I hate them from the bottom of my heart... The one company that does not stand behind their mediocre products! Freaking losers..

Here's a thought. The original Xbox's GPU was made by Nvidia, and how many of those are still going? The Xbox 360's GPU is made by AMD and the RROD and the E74 are both errors that stem from the GPU. I'd say that Nvidia does a better job of building it right wouldn't you?
My other laptop is AMD and ATI and I love it! The fact is that it never overheats and it doesn't even have dual core like my NVIDIA laptop. I had 2 that melted already and hard drive died all because of lousy NVIDIA. All I am saying they will never ever get me back as long as ATI lives on. God bless ATI!
@XIYL Your an idiot, Gamecube's GPU was built by ATi my mom still has one from launch running just fine. ATi built the GPU for the 360 not the 360 itself the errors from the 360 are Microsoft's fault entirely. So yes, ATi is still better not to mention that the GPU ATi built for the 360 is better then the one NVIDIA built for the PS3 ouch.

The 360's RRoD problems have absolutely nothing to do with the GPU, they are entirely due to Microsoft's crappy motherboard design which made all sorts of design compromises at the expense of heat management. Nvidia and AMD/ATI both make great products so all of you stop being such fanboys.
You ever open up the 360? Its not ATI's fault that the mounting system provides the highest possible stress in a very illogical layout, as well as leaving no support for memory chips whose connections can become weakened due to extreme temperatures. ATI does not control the melting point of solder.
Maybe Microsoft could have made the case a little more ventilated and passively cooled in addition to its fans. God forbid that make it modable, better stop piraters at the expense of console failure! Oh wait, you CAN mod it anyway! What jerks and/or idiots.
Nvidia has a long history of hardware bugs in their designs, often causing quite a mess, they even asked in their own drivers if you are sure you want to do something as daft as using their IDE drivers once, knowing they failed, and their old GPU's also had things not working, but so has ATI once in a while, and nvidia just drops support completely and discontinues stuff at the drop of a hat.
But at least nvidia tries to actually push some things up the development ladder instead of just talking that they 'support the idea' and 'are very excited' like ATI often does but then fails to deliver, nvidia had OpenGL drivers first, they have OpenCL first, they have DirectCompute first as the new benchmark on http://www.ngohq.com/news/16710-first-directcompute-benchmark-released.html shows.
So yeah they have their flaws and their qualities.

instead i think they should pair up and try to take out amd and ati. intel with its crummy integrated graphics and i7 and nvidia with its high-end graphic cards and i guess tegra

Without AMD, you'd probably be stuck on Netburst, without ATI we might still have the shit slurry that was the FX series from nVidia.
Taking out the competition would be a disaster for us consumers. Intel would have no reason to push the limits. Prices would rise while performance sunk.
Also intel is already developing real graphics hardware and doesn't need nvidia anymore for such I expect, soon(ish) we will know how they did.
Oh snap, AMD should hop on board and publish their own cartoons. That would make it quite interesting to watch.
All graphics card companies should just start partitioning large amounts of money toward making cartoons.

Maybe some ground could be covered with cartoons actually. Read an article referencing the cartoons Ben & Jerry's used to attack Pillsbury's Haagen Daz brand which helped open up markets they were shut out of due to similar rebates that Intel is using (which probably are legal even if unsavory, hopefully itll be found that Intel used the rebates in an illegal fashion)
I wouldn't think itd cost too much to create a few quick cartoon sketches like that.
I am waitiing to see if AMD can get some traction with this whole Vision Branding idea. Sounds logical in theory, but will it work?
if anyone wants to spend money, then Nvidia get your ass into gear and give me a replacement for my 8600m GT which although replaced a few weeks back is just waiting to screw me over again.

"invidia" in Latin means "envy" in English. It's other meanings (such as "hatred") are secondary.
While I disagree with the method, I believe Nvidia is in the right to criticise Intels monopolistic practises. Indeed I think AMD should sue Intel, as AMD lost a lot of business because of Intels kickbacks.

Intel should go to court, and when called the entire gallery (filled with Intel employees naturally) would stand up and go 'Bum.... bum bum bum bum". Case closed.
If NVdia hates Intel so much why dont they start making their own processors/chipsets or at least buy via. This will get them nowhere imo.
Via is bigger than Nvidia.
They can't make x86 processors, Intel hold licenses to them. They can't buy VIA and use them for the licenses because they won't transfer. They can't make chipsets for new i7/i5 because Intel haven't licensed them.
They may have better luck focussing on graphics solutions for embedded devices, Tegra and the like. They already do to an extent but I think they should continue to focus on making powerful chips for small devices.
They were going to partner together. I'm not sure what came of it, but I guess the ION2 + Nano 3 will be the result of that supposed partnership.
That leaves me to wonder about the fate of the VIA trinity platform though :\

The RSX architecture is derived from the GeForce 7800 series while the Xenos in the X360 is based on the R600 architecture which was used in the HD2000 and HD3000 series. That mean that the Xenos is more advanced than the RSX but that disavantage is aleviated by the usage of the cell in the PS3. This difference also explains partially while some port that were made for the x360 first and then ported to the PS3 are crap.
At the end of the day no matter how powerful the PS3 is on paper, the graphics on both consoles are nearly identical. I remember reading into a lot of this a while ago and there are advantages to both but they level out.
Sometimes (as mentioned above) the 360 will perform better because things are optimised for it and then ported to the PS3. There was that big article on frame-rates in GTA:IV measured with some high end equipment and the Xbox 360 came out ahead. I don't believe the PS3 has native anti-aliasing. I also remember in GTA:IV they had some effect turned on for the 360 which actually made the detail look worse, it would look better if it was turned off.
