Xbox 360 802.11n adapter rebirths on Costco site, ships November 10th for $88
You can't keep a phoenix down and this Xbox 360 wireless n adapter seems to be a bird of similar feather. After discretely showing up on US retail sites and subsequently managing to drop off into internet obscurity, the 802.11n-compliant peripheral has returned to the scene via Costco's site, this time with a November 10th shipping date and a more attractive than before $88 price tag. With only five days until the 10th, will this finally be the price and date that stick? Who knows -- but at least this time we won't have to wait long to find out.

oops...
@chino B
but it seems you and "low ranked" are already busy
I'm too lazy to Bing it,
how much faster is this than my standard Xbox wireless controller?
It's 12.01% cheaper than expected. Interesting.
Just buy a linksys router (such as the WRT54G2, or a WRT160N if you want N) and install dd-wrt on it. I'ev been using a WRT54G2 that I boguht for $25 and it works great.
This doesn't drop your connection.
Wow amazin, I just got banned today, so I guess no need for this damnit!!!
what the hell does PoE have to do with this? Do you even know what PoE is?
No offense, but good, we don't need cheaters and modders on XBOX Live, enjoy your break from XBOX Live courtesy of Microsoft.
this thing looks oddly like Max from Sam and Max.

$88, really? I'm willing to bet that it has the same Ralink chipset that a ~$20 Monoprice wireless N usb stick has.
I bet it has an even cheaper chip in it.
Did they ever consider releasing it in more than one color to match the arcade/pro consoles? I know it clips on the back and no one's really gonna see it, but still
(this rant also applies to the original g version when used on an elite)
good riddance you pirate/cheating bitch!
you know you are a final fantasy fan when the first thing you notice is the words "phoenix down"
Off topic, sorry - but where did the comcast article go?
It was throttled.
Troll, Be gone!
FIRST !!!
I don't understand. My 802.11g wifi is 54Mbps. 802.11n is around 600 Mbps. How fast do1080P HD movies need? My Internet is only 16 Mbps, so beside local area network, I don't see a huge reason to have 802.11n. However, my laptop does have a built in 802.11n WiFi and I got it for $600 Asus F6Ve.
That price is just stupid.
I don't care if they decision was "Hey you don't have to get it". Microsoft has convinced its users that paying $150 for a 120GB hdd and $90 for a friggin wireless connection isn't totally black balling and horrible practice towards its users.
Just because its a choice doesn't mean MS should be shoving a huge rod up your ass to use it. Fine make it a choice...even make it a little bit more expensive. But $90 for a wireless adapter is simply put OUTRAGEOUS I won't even get into how unbelievable it is that they charge more than $1 a GB for a hdd when most people charge less than 30c.
What a joke that anyone could possibly not say this is a complete and utter ripoff in everyway. This is coming from a Windows and Zune lover....yikes
I've got the original wireless adapter. It works just fine for any game I've ever played. I don't really see the point of this unless you really are big into streaming netflix or something.
damnit and i just bought the G for 76 bucks. Oh well, it works flawlessly though, I really don't see a need for the N unless they start supporting full HD mkv/wmvhd with all codecs supported. Even then, not real sure if my at&t wireless router supports 'N' or not, don't feel like buying a router on top of it all... have a wd tv to play my movies atm.
well thats gay, its only available in the U.S.
what exactly is so much better about this one?? im guessing its better, its got two antenna's
Hah $50, try $600. Just because you're financing the cost of the phone through a carrier contract, doesn't mean you didn't pay full price for it.
Will the G adapter drop to a reasonaale price now? N is not really worth it anyway, G is fast enough for XBox360
xbox gaming works fine over WiFi noobz.
Huzzah for Costco!
Although, it took them almost a week after them to get my copy of Windows 7 to get from Seattle to Vegas...
Please tell me your with the times? Have you actually tried gaming over wireless? N will be plenty fast enough. You shouldn't experience any lag with that type of connection. If you can stream HD content over N why wouldn't you be able to game on it? Hell I know people currently gaming on the G with no lag issues.
If you get a PS3 you don't have to spend an extra 90 bucks for Wi-Fi...and it all around just destorys the 360.
I disagree. I have both consoles and they both have theie pluses and minuses. The PS3 multiplayer is not as good as XBox live but PS3 plays blu ray and XBox does not. PS3 controller is for 4 yr old hands while XBox is made for an adult hand. Neither is rally better than the other, you are just a fanboy.
Get a bridge for a few dollars more and network all your wired only devices. The D-Link DAP-1522 XTREME N DUO wireless bridge and access point can be had at Amazon for $99. It connects wirelessly to your router and has 4 Ethernet ports for your convenience.
I'm a PS3 and I have wireless integrated!
Wow so I need to pay over $87 just so i can pay the $8 a month to play online?
Best buy will have this for 99.99 in coming weeks.
@ninjabranden not necesarilly, ive heard of people who buy regular wireless network peices for around $40 or $50 and had them work. but with these ones you get the microsoft branded and gauranteed your xbox will know its connected.
dude! 90$ ????u can pick up the fucken console for 100$!!
why would I want this over the G?
will N have less lag?
xbox ugh
Looks like Microsoft is going to squeeze some more money out of 360 owners. Kind of pointless considering wireless N will only provide faster speeds among the network. And this also means you need to have a wireless N router. The extra range it provides is a plus though. I actually wrote a few articles about increasing wireless signals for gaming, they would work for this new adapter as well. Check them out at http://everybodyloveslen.com.
question:
does it work with PC or only xbox, because i have the old model and if i do end up switching to this can my old model be used for my PC?
if not then i dont think ill upgrade cus the old one is working ok for me on CoDW@W except the minor lagg sometimes
Does this thing do WPA2?
This isn't expensive it's a aspirational price!
The problem with the original Wireless G Xbox 360 adapter was that it was limited by the extreme latency of the USB bus you are forced to run it through, so streaming media, netflix, and online gaming with tons of players in the match became laggy and shitty..
The new N adapter will run through that same shitty USB bus.. this will fix no problems..
I went to order this and it's been removed. Damnit!!! I wanted to buy it in time for MW2. Gonna have to unplug my cord that connects to my Airport Express when I wanna go online, till this drops.
