We won't cancel our trips to Vegas just yet, but
Boxee is planning on giving users an early peek at its new beta release -- with all new UI, queue, navigation and search features -- December 7 at the Music hall of Williamsburg. Beta Unveiling visitors will be the first to get their hands on the new version and see new applications being launched by partners, leading to early access beta testers giving it a four week shakedown run before the planned wide release January 7 at CES. Any ideas what form Boxee might take in this next step on its
road to commercial viability?
MY NAME IS BOXXY
D:
fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I love you Boxxy
sure is /b/ around here...
although, i was just about to come in here and make a boxxy reference as well.
@TendoMan
Rules 1 and 2 new___ (stupid censoring...)
Rules 1 & 2 only apply on raids newf@g
rules apply everywhere. now let's stop this and get back on topic
The fact that rules 1 & 2 were not followed EVERYWHERE is the reason the chan died of cancer.
it died with the unfunny "you laugh you lose threads", the stupid "you fall in love you lose" threads, the countless advice dog re-makes, people forgot that funniness originates from originality, not recycling the same content on EVERY single thread.
Boxxy? Is it really you? Please come back. A lot of us love you. Just stay away from 4chan this tiem.
Boxee with Windows Media Center best combo ever.
Set top box?
I love Boxee!!! But, "road to commercial viability" scares me
I'm not TOO worried. I imagine they might start looking at licensing deals for embedding it with hardware and the such, while keeping the standalone software free for those who want to use it on their own devices.
Boxee box to be released December 21st, 2012. Heard it here first.
I see what you did thar.
There's nothing wrong with a fork. But Boxee makes things unnecessarily simple, and loses a lot of functionality in the process.
I like Boxee, but their performance seems to suck compared to Plex on my Mac Mini. By sucking, I mean screen tearing with 1080p videos.
I've heard Plex uses multi-threaded video decoding so it can utilized a multicore system, where Boxee can't. Not sure if that's true or not.
I came by to post the same thing. At first Boxee worked ok. Once I loaded in my library froman internal hard drive, the app when to crap. It wasn't worth touching again. Plex works too well. I've had some Hulu streaming problems which is expected (right?) but has been otherwise flawless.
Don't know about threading though.
But my issues with Boxee were so bad I don't know if I'd try again until the full release.
Hey stupid moron system designers, why don't you use this software, instead of the terrible software you're thinking of using, or currently using?
Don't forget Boxee has Netflix streaming and Fancast Now
Did someone say, Boxxy?
yes actually. right at the top there.
OoooooooooooooooooooOOOoo Boxee I love Boxee give me an update and new features please. Ok, inappropriate excitement /completed.
How these guys are ever going to go commercial with all of the GPL XBMC code that's at the foundation of this application (not LGPL, mind you, but full GPL) is truly beyond me. I like Boxee but I also understand freedom. Or do I not?
