Call Daegu home? Just over in South Korea to visit and / or infiltrate the DMZ? Regardless of why you're there, you're probably interested in picking up LG's latest, which has been tempting our retinas
since IFA. Just as we'd heard back in late August, the aforesaid firm's
15-inch OLED TV is reportedly now on sale in South Korea, and it's packing a price tag of around ₩3 million ($2,598). By our count, this is just the second major, mass-produced OLED TV to
hit store shelves anywhere in the world, but we're hoping to see a lot more action in this space come CES. You TV makers
are listening to our
requests demands, right?
My mind is not blowned. There, I said it.
*snicker*
It's not? Well that's okay. Any news about S. Korea on USA websites is fascinating to me, because I currently teach ESL in Korea. I especially love it when there are references to Daegu, Won (the currency), and especially the DMZ. I do have to admit, 15 inches isn't that big - and ₩ 3 million is more than I'm willing to pay for anything, even if it were for a decent-sized TV.
Engadget, keep up the South Korean gadget news about companies such as: LG, Samsung, SK Telecom mobile phones, and Hyundai coming! Is there an English feed for South Korea gadget news here? I couldn't find it. If it doesn't exist - please add it!
Wow... sk8rpro... that really bored the hell out of me.
Nobody cares if you're from Korea or from Mongolia, just FYI.
Lifetime tests for organic LED consumer products are... ?
Who cares? They have stunning image quality (though a bit too saturated perhaps...?).
I guess if you can afford one now, you can afford another one in three years if it dies on you.
ya, because what we all need is another (slightly bigger) XEL-1
troll
While the Lg's oled is better deal compare to the Sony Xel-1, it is still to expensive for the mass market. I hope in couple of years, they will bring the price down to $1500 for a 32 in.
15 inches... yay!
First person to modify this into a laptop should get an award.
(expensive mod with a huge risk, but if it worked would be amazing).
I don't get it? it's 15 inches! are we talking about prick sizes or TV sizes!
I get it if we are talking 15 inch prick not so much a 15 inch TV
Rome wasn't built overnight buddy.
I don't get what the hell you're on about.
I've read somewhere that the screen resolution is not even 720p!
Darn... my laptop's 15 inch screen is 1440*900... WTF, LG?
I think I might have been wrong. The first time I read about this TV (a year ago perhaps), the resolution was supposed to be 1024x600. Now some sites say it is a 1366x768. Anyway, for a price like that, I expect at least 22" and 1920x1080 or 1920x1200.
A 15" screen is hardly enough to "blow my mind" however that outrageous price tag surly is!
I need one of these for my company. Trying to find a 1080p60 capable screen that's semi-portable and less than $6000 (that's what the professional monitors cost) seems to be impossible.
Now how can I actually get one of these in the US?
Just buy a 1080p laptop. The XPS 16" does 1080p, is LED backlit and supposedly very nice.
anyone seen prices on panasonic's g10 on newegg?!?!?!...15 in anything just doesn't exactly float my boat
$2500, ey?
Sweet... then I'll be able to get an apple version with the same or a little less capability for only about $3200 or so probably.
I'll wait for the 32" $500 model slated for release for 2020
OLEDs are absolutly beautiful. I've actually seen one in person before. The price tag may be high, but I can understand. These displays are next generation in high def, so I can't wait for the technology to be perfected. If anyone is wondering "why so small," it's because the manufacturing process is very tedius and he fibers used in the display are very difficult to manufacture at large sizes. The fibers also have a life average of around 3000-5000 hours. Deffinately not worth it a the time, but be patient and this will prove to be great technology.
I'm saving for the 20" will I buy it though it all depends on if it gives me Nausea eyestrain and
vertigo like lcds do for me. Trinitron ftw
